All right guys, today we're going to show how to install our photos pop up drains with or without overflow. First box you can see comes in two different sections, this section does come off which you want to take for, this first part installation always remember to keep this o-ring inside this section here. All right next you want to take off hexagon faster here as well as this plastic disc. This is a slippery disk so that when you install underneath that this piece here has a little bit of friction nonfiction go ahead and take off both will be to hear gaskets. All right I'll show you those, here you want to use the thinner one first and this goes you can tell it flares up you want that player to be up against this flange here like so she sit nice up against that flange that right now is install installation on to your dream was simply in there like so underneath the drain you want to keep this flap up.
You can tell it's just going to be a rounded edge of the bottom you want this to be up so that when you secure it is that's nice steel underneath yeah right next is this plastic piece and then underneath is that fastener. All right give us all the way to the top you may want to do a slight fastened with some set of pliers site so that it's over time that nice and tight that bottom. Oh ring is going to start you know waiting underneath they're creating that seal underneath as well. After this you have one last step before the peach shopping process and that is this piece here which is simply just slide on and make sure that o-ring is all the way down in them in around, all right that's it.

Thank you for posting - especially the direction of the undersink gasket. For DIY folks out there, use plumbers tape on the threads to prevent small leaks.
I wish all the DIY videos where this clear and easy to understand. I'm swapping out a vessel sink and didn't think to note the order of the gaskets. I've searched all over the web for some instructions and here you are. But I have to agree with some of the other posts, Teflon tape and plumbers putty can be helpful for stopping leaks.
This is exactly my leaky drain unit. Thank you for the video. Whether or not I use plumber's putty between the bowl of the sink and the push mechanism in place of the 1st silicone ring at 1:18 is another matter.
I decided to use plumber's putty and there is no leak after reassembly.
Thank you so much. You saved me. Excellent video! Very helpful for someone inexperienced like myself.
I had a leak in my sink I was able to fix it with your helpful information, thanks for explaining which way the washers go. 👍
Thank you, you helped me out. I had the bottom rubber gasket upside down and it was causing a slow leak. I watched your video, and made the correction, and now everything works.
Thank you for the absolute excellent clear instructions! I see there is no need for plumber's putty, even better. And below some suggests plumbers tape on the threads. Thanks for posting, really great instructions!
Thanks! This was nice and clear and I'm glad you mentioned the proper orientation of the plastic gaskets.
Great tutorial! Did everything they did but I did use Teflon tape for the threads. I did not use plumbers putty. It works like a champ.
Full disclosure it did leak at first but that’s because I didn’t tighten down the nut to the stopper good enough. After that it worked great!
Just received two of these drains today with no instructions. Thank you for a clear video as to where all the gaskets go! So frustrating getting all these parts with no direction on where to put them. Only thing missing was the plumber's tape, otherwise well done.
You so much my sink has been leaking for a month is solved my problem thank you
I noticed that there was an overflow outlet in the basin, so why didn’t the waste have the necessary slots to accommodate?
I also note that the instruction sheet from Riobel suggests you apply caulking between the gasket and sink...both upper and lower. and teflon tape on the threaded piece. Does not seem necessary to me.
Just got to this video. I have the exact same pop-up drains in a double vanity. I installed both and both leaked. I'm pretty sure they both leaked at the threads, so here I came on youtube checking to see if I need thread tape/compound and/or putty. I'm surprised this video didn't mention anything about putty. I put some putty on the drain tube, just below the top flange AND a generous amount of pipe thread compound. 1 hour in and no leaks so far. :)
Yep. Pipe dope on the threads underneath (and the nut) would be best-practice. Typically, dope is a lubricant not a sealant.
kellerrobert80 hi what brand pipe dope would you recommend?
I've been watching too many plumbing videos, and the best plumbers seem to use both "thick" Teflon tape and extra-strength pipe dope: Oatey Hercules 15806 Megaloc pipe dope (sku 554499 US$11.20 at Home Depot) and Hercules 15100 or 15102 or 15120 Oatey Megatape Professional PTFE Tape (Amazon for about US$9.00). I'm sure others will work, but as a DIY-er, this combo has never failed me. No, I get no money from Oatey--their kinda pricey stuff just seems to work.
Thank you for sharing this so helpful
helped my dad a lot
Thank you dude you're a life saver
Simple to follow & understand. Wish you would have identified the product you used. Thanks!
can you widen bathroom sink for a bigger sink drain
Super helpful! Thank you. Quick question: does an pop-up drain with overflow work with a no overflow sink?
Absolutely
Thanks.
Thank you
This is instructions, 👍🏽
nice clear video. My question relates to what drain size to purchase. I'm looking at a sink with a 1.75" drain hole. It looks like the pop up drain needs to be slightly smaller than the sink hole from your video. Are there tolerances I need to know about and adhere to? thx
Which brand is the spring pop-up. It looks like what I am looking for.
It appears that the sink has an overflow hole. The drain that you're installing appears to be for sinks without an overflow. Am I seeing this wrong or did you install the wrong type of drain in that sink?
That drain definitely didn't have overflow ability
Came here after doing the same mistake, buying the wrong type of drain, which definitely leaks when water goes down the overflow.
Going to buy a new one tomorrow.
Hloo sir how u give this threading on ss pipe pls
Let me know
What if it has the drainage holes
Can I ask what brand name is that pop up drain?
Hey guys! I installed the push drain and have a leak coming from the bottom black gasket. Any suggestions would be helpful
I hope the extra hand in the video was a kid...I am like dude can you let the dude that put it together test it out...it was like they were so anxious....lol
You better tighten that but a little more
No plumbing tape,, you be back in few days,, with nice leak to fix.
Yep
kellerrobert80 😀😀😀
Donald Cook I had to use Teflon tape to stop it from leaking. It works great now.
Where exactly you teflon tape on??
I did exactly the same things and its leeking how to fix it?
He did not use silicone sealant around the gaskets (top or bottom) or teflon tape around the threaded portion of the pipe that mates to the head of the drain assembly. The gaskets alone will not provide a leak-proof seal..
Make sure you have an overflow drain if your sink has an overflow hole... Learned this the hard way!
so....there's no easy way to clean the drain if there are hair clogs
You forgot to show how the pop up part comes out for cleaning.
How does it come out for cleaning?
@@algarshong5341 lifts out.
Easy to do when it is not in the bathroom how do you attach it to the drain pipe??
A P-trap
LOL watched this at least 10 times you put the wrong gasket up top the thinner one went on the bottom not the top
That will leak like a fire hose. This video is garbage. Basically read you the instructions that came from the manufacturer
Andy Duomo what would you recommend add to his instructions?
@@andreygv first of all get an overflow drain to match the overflow sink
