Giving some info about Cing as a whole was a really good move. I don't think I've ever seen anyone cover Glass Rose before to be honest. Not that I think it's very good particularly, but I like PS2 oddities so I enjoyed your take on it. Anyway, I love Another Code. Great video dude!
Hikikomori Media Hey um i havent played this game yet. i just learned about it and i really wanna try it. do you think i can play this on Emulator in my phone/tablet? will it work?
I know it's an older video, but I love that you put so much effort into explaining what Another Code is to people who might not know the game. Gonna watch your review of the sequel now, since that's probably my favorite game of all time.
Trace Memory is one of my all time favorite adventure games. It was among the first I ever played and a big part of me getting into the genre. What I wouldn't give for Rika Suzuki to write another one. Great video, btw. One of the only I've seen that gives this game it's proper due.
@@HikikomoriMedia I've seen it and it's a great video. The point you made about CiNG's bankruptcy going down just shy of the genre's big comeback was something I've thought about a lot. I also liked your Blue Stinger review. Really funny stuff. Hope you make a Hotel Dusk retrospective some day. Good commentaries like these kinda keep the games alive.
Excellent review. Trace Memory is one of my favourite games, and I agree with all of your points. I'm interested what your thoughts will be on the remake. new review soon? :)
this is the one game that has left a massive imprint on me from when i was a kid, playing it and seeing and hearing how creepy everything was made some kind of core memory in my brain that i often think about. i finally remembered what the game was called and watched a play through and its better than what i remembered. a story that was driven with such emotion and family history is so cool and unlike a game ive ever played.
Trace Memory holds a very special place in my heart. It was the first game I ever got with my first DS Lite on my birthday. It took me a while to finish the game, but I cried when I saw the birthday candles at the end that I got to blow out. It made me think about when I first got the game and my DS. Cing did an amazing job and I love the artwork. It's a shame that they're not still around, but I look forward to hopefully trying their other games. I've replayed Trace a few times now and it really is a great story and makes you feel a range of emotions. I wish we had more games like that nowadays.
I wanna thank you for this video i was searching on trauma center videos and suddenly found this video on my recommendation after watched this video i started playing another code and hotel dusk and i feel love with these two series
I know I'm like a decade late, but it's lovely to see someone else who knows this game. A lot of people actually judging by these comments!! Hi fellow Another Code/Trace Memory fans! I wonder if I can theorise with any of you because I have been left with so many questions for nearly 20 years XD
The memory of this game’s scenario quality, never left me. It pushes me into my dream : becoming the director of my very own novel game and doing a job that makes me remember how lovely it is.
I actually breathed a sigh of relief when you clarified "Indigo Prophecy Syndrome" as the inclusion of forced QTEs. I was worried you meant the story jumps the shark halfway through.
Great video! Never got around to actually playing the sequel, but Another Code was such a cool game. Really hyped to see more videos about CING games as I only ever played Another Code and a little bit of Hotel Dusk. Never even knew about Glass Rose. I love how ambitious games were back then. The whole time limit thing probably would have pissed me off, but its cool that developers took chances like that when making games.
+GameRamblings The time limit thing isn't so bad in Glass Rose - some of the chapters are 10mins max, but when you're trying to reread convos and find topics to press it can hamper the immersion a little. Still worth importing if you can.
Surprised to see Glass Rose mentioned on here, I own a copy and it truly is an awkward gameplay experience. Loved Trace Memory/Another Code & Hotel Dusk/Last Window.
Years ago I could never beat the game because I also had no clue how to complete the stamp puzzle and didn't think to do that, and it got lost later on. I'm glad I found this review, playing it up until that point waa great.
Btw, you can complete it on 2ds. Just like Phantom Hourglass, you have to put it in sleep mode twice to do one of the puzzles (the equivalent of the map puzzle from PH)
This was probably my favorite video on your channel and one of the most informative ones about Cing I've watched so far. With the somewhat recently released Chase Cold Case Investigations on 3DS it appears the spirit of Cing is somewhat alive still. Any chance you could cover the rest of the ds/wii Cing games like Hotel Dusk, Again(not that good I heard but had an interesting look to it), Last Window and the sequel to Another Code? Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.
Can't wait for you to tackle Hotel Dusk and Last Window, they play so similarly and take place in the same "fictional universe" so you get some easter eggs here and there. I also enjoyed the story of those more.
Damn, this was a really good review :) (like the ds layout) I remember reading about this game in the Nintendo Magazine back in the day, and though it looked interesting. never pøayed it though.
@phantomxero1x447 yes I saw super excited 😊 I’m affiliated with video games plus so as soon as I saw it I contacted my friend there say “I’m super excited “ lol thank you for letting me know :)
Nintendo revealed that the Famicom Detective Club games are being remade and will be localized for the first time. What are your thoughts? Do you think Nintendo will get back into the adventure game scene?
Playing on my 3ds now (r4 card ftw) can I also recommend the Zero Escape series (i liked playing on the ds even without the timeline/tree lol) and ghost trick phantom detective and TWEWY and honestly there are a good few hidden gems in the ds world
Another Code is a much better name. Trace Memory might be slightly fitting, but Another is the central focus of the games, plus it lines up better with its sequel. Trace Memory just sounds so pretentious.

+ThorHighHeels thanks. Trying to show Cing some love and hoping for the best for their new company.

@@HikikomoriMedia This is a really good game! I wish Switch would make this game downloadable so I can play this again.
I hope you make a short or video mentioning how nintendo will release both games with Ashley in english as one release in janurary.
i played this game as a child, and it has had so much impact on my life. I love it
Thanks for watching Sadie! I made a review on the sequel, Another Code R on the channel. I really enjoyed it.
I have a very similar experience, it marked me too. I also have to admit I had to look the solutions for 2-3 puzzles.
Subbed for the Dobson roast.
You are doing god's work.

Thanks. I am a HUGE Cing fan. (RIP)
The scene where D moves on and transcends into the sky fucked me up as a kid. I love this game.
Very dark subject matter all around for a launch DS game. Cing has made me devastated on more than one occasion
Can't believe Another Code is back!
The world is healing

Came for the Dobson ree, stayed for the good review. Bless you.

Not so dead after all huh?
We won everyone!
Not dead anymore!

@phantomxero1x447 Are you serious? Where did you get the news? The company that created the game went bankrupt. If it’s true, that would be so great !

Well, The switch version is finally here. It does look great. I can't believe it. Years goes by quickly
Surprised to see Glass Rose mentioned on here, I own a copy and it truly is an awkward gameplay experience. Loved Trace Memory/Another Code & Hotel Dusk/Last Window.
It's like an Art House game, pretty cool sounding. The puzzles do seem pretty awesome too! Nice review man!
+Retro Game Players definitely low-key release on this one. Not the standard Nintendo approach with it, very arthouse.
Years ago I could never beat the game because I also had no clue how to complete the stamp puzzle and didn't think to do that, and it got lost later on. I'm glad I found this review, playing it up until that point waa great.

I want to play it someday...

Great review! I'm plaing the game and it became one of my favorites on the DS.
Mine too! Thanks for coming by
This game sounds like a lovely visual novel. Unfortunately, due to being unable to afford many games, I had to miss this title.
Another Code R is literally my favorite Wii game, CiNG closing doors still hurts after all these years too bad Nintendo didn't picked them up.

Dharoz yeah I'd like to continue delving into cing titles. no immediate plans, for Chase until I get a way to capture 3ds games.

hyped beyond belief!

Really liked this one. Especially since I have never heard of it.
Best game I've ever played got me interested into puzzles and eventually the police academy
I got another code last year 2022 excited to play it im behind on my gaminng games.

Amazing review, I love another code
Only played it cause albino gurl was waifu. I liked it, i tend to enjoy the majority of those "mistery" adventure titles.
Dude I claimed her first

God I hope so. Best I can do is support Famicom Detective Club
They should make a remake of this game

yes
In France it's DAS not DTS
Yay!
They really butchered the localisation in the United States. The dialogue is way better in the PAL localisation.
My grandmas....
How strange
these games are great Forgettable & weird
I still have the game I passed it I the bad ending so I'm replaying it hoping to get the good ending.
