The clip at 9:27 is an awesome showcase of a property in smash called anti-rebounding. This prevents the user from getting any hitlag from clanks (but not on hit). Very few moves have it (a few notable ones are bowsers ftilt and dks smashes), but mac happens to be blessed with a TON. Almost all of his grounded moves have this property and is the main reason his ftilt is so nasty. Hit one can clank with no lag, cancel out an opponents attack, and leave them open for hit 2
While mac does have that, it's not what happened here. It's a different weird game mechanic where if the last frame of a strong move clanks, the person using the move doesn't go through the clanking animation, and doesn't have the endlag. The anti rebound is on his tilts
Looked to be more Little Mac just beat Falco's landing F-Air hitbox (which I think is considered by the game as a grounded hitbox) Clanking will occur regardless of the moves frame in most cases Following the 9% rule Little Mac's F-Smash deals at base 20%, Falco's Landing F-Air deals 3% base (1v1 multiplier is not considered in clanking). Thus Little Mac soundly beats out Falco and forces him to be stuck in rebound while Little Mac was able to move. Falco also had Landing Lag to deal with aswell which is why it took so long.
I knew about that run faster trick for about a year, and an interesting fact I found about it is that if every character who can go faster by using that trick does, then Jigglypuff runs the slowest. Incineroar runs less than 1% faster than Jigglypuff, while also being not the second slowest, but the fourth slowest overall. Steve (third slowest) and Dr. Mario (second slowest are in between the two Pokémon. And yes, this excludes moves that make the character go faster, like Rollout.
WhyDo explains it perfectly You mash the stick to get perfect dashes, or time it for each "step" your character takes Incineroar can foxtrot to travel ground faster but most prefer running regularly so they aren't restricting themselves So it’s mainly used to chase people's asses down when they get launched across the stage I think what's more important is your animation and how easy it is to see, tricky movement goes a long way
4:09 I remember from PKbeats video that weight of character actually enhances their item throws. But I don't know, if that the case for speed of the throw
I'm surprised people barely found out about some characters being faster with their dash speed than their normal run. I've been utilizing that since the beginning of Ultimate and you can notice through some vods.
I only started playing smash ultimate seriously in the last 2 weeks. (owned the game on release then never played it after day one) I noticed the dash faster than run thing within like 20 mins. I'm surprised this wasn't found out sooner. cool vid.
Yeah the dashing in perfect repetitive motion is called Foxtrotting. That was introduced I think in Melee. It's definitely an optimal movement tech to help get away from opponents or just to get to other places.
*I feel cool whenever a new tech video comes out and I've already been doing that for a long time. Like the faster dash one. Been doing it for like 2 years especially with Ganon*
I have an idea for an episode! How about you guys compile some clips of each other and show it off like it’s smash review! You can even go so far as to do certain characters and see each others reaction as well as ours!
You guys should do a whole video on the dash thing, I want to see the difference it makes for dk and I want to see if dash attack is faster for him lol, I think it has to much end lag to be faster though
Those Megaman clips were so clean and refreshing. Can we please get more submitted clips rather than all the Pac-Man/ROB/Shoto clips all the time? Show some love to the more under represented characters!
I finally get why people do hate Steve, poor Ike's soul. Even my sister who know so little of the smash series thinks that Smash doesn't looks like Smash anymore. Still like Steve, he changes his surroundings so bad but that's the essence of Smash: Is fun.
The dedede at the end thought he has time to do another suck to reflect but I’ve been in that matchup plenty before and you definitely don’t, falco is too fast with the reflector, the best you can do is use ftilt or side b again to get the faster gordo reflect.
Please try doing Steve’s dash, I’d like to know, I don’t have a tv yet cause we just moved to Vegas and my other controllers are in the moving container(s) so I can’t really test it
quick tip, for once smash legends or 5 comes to the switch pro or 2 or whatever: do giveaways, engage as much as thousands as you can, cus you channel will go insanely wild if that game gets announced
Is that not just fox trotting? It’s been around I think even since past smash games. Basically, some characters have an initial dash that’s faster than their actual dash speed, so if you repeatedly use the initial dash you’re just faster. It’s something I did learning to play Ultimate and I didn’t even know it was any better lol
You be giving me Inkling roller nightmares
That's a good emote

So he's effectively "plus on clank"? Like he has frame advantage in "attack vs attack" moments? Am I getting it right?
Correct, everyone else gets a delay, Mac doesn't.@@goldman1996

@@pissanti it was also down angled, which has 4% more base damage than the other 2

The way Little Mac cleared that huge pit was very entertaining to watch

The dash dash dash thing also makes it easier to space your dash grabs
Link to dash/run chart?
I will be so happy to see this channel pass 500k when smash 6 comes out
Glad to know I'm not the only one that uses Y for grab and Z for jump
10:40 what is going on with Steve's shovel?
It broke

0:33 was my favorite!
Everything else aside from the movement tech bleh ngl
This Diddy Kong Racing music is giving me life lol
6:01 🔥
MKLeo has been doing that dash trick for years with Byleth. Look for his Byleth shield break punishes you’ll find a few example of it.
I've been using the run faster trick for 5 years as Wolf and it definitely is useful!
I think it would be a cool idea for you guys to implement a clip from one or both of you every episode!
You guys should do a whole video on the dash thing, I want to see the difference it makes for dk and I want to see if dash attack is faster for him lol, I think it has to much end lag to be faster though
"That's some bad coding right there!" Did You Mean: Steve's entire kit
The dash thing definitely helps with ganon, poor guy needs every movement trick he can get lol
as an incineroar main, I can safely say that I've already noticed the difference, haha
it's very very appearant
Lucas DJC works if you hold in any direction; even up or down!
My first ever tournament game was against sparkle as hero on stream. Can confirm he crushed me like an ant

Was doing this with puff since 2019
a known but really underused dash tech.

Someone needs to explain what was going on with the mega man leaf shield at ledge
How can I send my replay for smash review?
11:29 lol I do this all the time with incinaroar. I didn't realize it was faster I just like doing it cause it feels more responsive lol.
For Lukas : he uses an attack cancel to back air

_But hey, that's just a theory._
They're just know learning about foxtrotting? I've been doing that with Puff to make certain combos easier.
