Agreed. Tarja wrecks Floor on this song and everything else besides romanticide and GLS. Those songs fit Floor better but she eats Tarja dust on the rest of pre-Anette nw catalogue. Floor seems to have given up her beautiful striking classical voice in favor of run of the mill rock shouting and vanilla contemporary soft singing, its so sad. *Edit to say that this is coming from someone into black, death, crust and grind I've nothing against harsh vocs, but Floor just sounds as good as the next rocker chick now, when she used to be a cut above. Tarja still has her signature sound mastered tho! Ligeia you should check out Unleash the Archers, not even Floor can top that girl's rock singing!
@@ScheisseTyranna gls is beautiful on its own floor does not do more than alter the final with a pushed belt. Besides Floor's classical technique was never beautiful. Her cover of "she is my sin" while on After forever is atrocious. Her forteé was always her belting which has taken a toll also. Understandably.
@@LigeiaNoire I live for stuff like Emphasis, she sounds quite well with her own songs but doesn't hold a candle to Tarja on anything else. I also agree her technique isn't great, seems so forced and tense always! Yeah she's touted as versatile but only average quality on all styles not a master of any, but my humble personal opinion is that she sounded wonderful *in studio* in her AF days. She just doesn't have it now, she sounds very average. Tarja has always had an innate quality that Floor just doesn't, on top of Tarjas professional training. I ultimately agree with you on everything except that i personallt enjoy Floors work in AF way back when. Tarja sings all pre Anette nw songs far better than anyone, but I do think Floor style fits well in Romanticide. Floor does fine with GLS imo but its vastly overrated by thousands of ppl just because she yells at the end of her rendition. I'm just happy to see Tarja so happy outside of nw, she's a living legend! *just my opinions, Tarja objectively has better technique and a magical voluminous voice that Floor can't compare with no matter what Tarja haters say.
@@ScheisseTyranna Tarja is a living legend and she earned it. It does not matter what she is trying to do now with her vocals it won't change that. Because as you wrote it is innate to her. I prefer darker heavier timbers like Tarja's but Floor's is good too. I've never cared for AF. Always bored me. I do enjoy Mark's work on Epica and Mayan. Epica is the best symphonic metal band out there. And I enjoyed Revamp a lot. Much more exciting than anything she has done before but I don't follow her closely. Romanticide and DATDDO are great but man all the rest just no. I was watching the show at wacken in 2013 last week and She is my sin or Ever dream just made me uncomfortable. So much effort and push. You just can't sing those notes with your chest register... It ends up like plain screaming in some parts. Not even going to eoah or wishmaster or even Slaying the dreamer currently which I though she would be good but it needs too much power and a heavier voice colour to get the same punch. The lyric parts are just meek.
