for some added context you might be interested in, the track 'infrared' on this album is dissing/insulting Drake. Drake responded with 'duppy freestyle', and then Pusha T responded to that with 'the story of adidon', one of the harshest diss tracks of all time, which is definitely worth checking out!
YES! This is such a well done and fun album to throw on. It's got so much confidence in it, and the production is some of my favorite ever from Kanye. The energy and confidence on this album is ridiculously large. lol Pusha T is truly a legend, and has been releasing hits and great albums since I was a teen. (I am 36 now) I will forever get excited when he drops a new album or single. And don't worry, a lot of us appreciate that you just throw on the music and enjoy it. Where it takes you is where it takes you, and I love it. Have a wonderful and positive rest of your weekend, while playing Street Fighter 6! lol
@@mercurialno6 Nope, you still have both 808's and Graduation to listen to. Those are my two most anticipated albums for you to react to. Please bless us with those reactions!
13:51 😂😂😂😂 that burp was so random in the middle of your point... I also love when rap songs play the sample as the chorus. It takes something from the past & gives it a new context.
To answer your question at 18:46 its very conflicting being a kanye fan (having been one for over 20 years now). We all acknowledge that hes one of the most genius music minds to ever do it, but we also acknowledge that hes going to unapologetically go on rants and lash out on subjects that the majority of the public have opposite views on. Its hard to not play his music still though, considering he has his hands on some of the best pieces of music ever.
Bro Daytona is sooooo good Great Kanye production, he always said he thinks Pusha T is best when he spitting bars over fire beats, so when Kanye is producing here, there’s no pressure to create some grand creative conceptual innovative project, he can just make fire beats. Kanye can do the soul sample flip in his sleep, that’s why he’s always trying to do something different in his albums, challenging himself. But sometimes, a tight track list of fire beats and fire bars is all you need, pure unadulterated fun!
Another great album from this 5 album release, KIDS SEE GHOSTS is still the best and I consider it a top 15 album off all time for me but DAYTONA is still amazing.
Many rap lyrics are based on current cultural references like you said so Trump has been referenced in hip-hop regularly since the 90s. To me it does date it but that isn't a bad thing, I can easily enjoy media from the 20s-50s or listen to music in languages I don't understand and lacking context to connect me to the art rarely makes it worse it just means I appreciate it in a slightly different way.
Ayyyyy good random album to react to. I get excited when I see your somewhat rare uploads. Chairs! Also a story behind the album cover. Kanye paid a TON of money for that picture. It was the crime scene after the woman died. Funny you mentioned Woodstock as well. Rapper do strive to be “rockstars” these days.
Pusha T has used that "yuugh!" refrain through most of his career. His lyrical ability is top notch but the subject matter of the raps is almost always coke.

Please do, it's almost dry next!
Selling cocaine in a open air!
Absolutely
One of my favourite albums. Pusha's lyricism is on another level with this one, commands so much attention

YESS DAYTONA IS A TOP 3 RAP ALBUM IMO pusha t sounds so villainous his delivery is so hard hitting

Interesting.
Basically bullied Drake into being a father lol
The Story of Adidon was brutal. "Love that baby, respect that girl / Forget she's a pornstar, let her be your world, yuugh!"

Listen to 808's & Heartbreak it's the only album you haven't listened to and I'm sure it'll redeem YE for you.

I like the idea of it. I will definitely do it at some point!
14:00 To what you were saying, that George Jackson sample introduced me to his music and am now a huge George Jackson fan because of this sample.
Now I want to listen to the album again.

You’re right about the instrumentation dropping out a lot for his verses. It’s like he really wants you to hear what he’s saying. Nice observation.
