I am Djiboutian, i understand most of the Northern Somali dialect, I speak the Djibouti Somali dialect but I do not understand the Maay and Benadir dialects. Somali linguistic varieties are broadly divided into three main groups: Northern, Benadir and Maay. Northern Somali forms the basis for Standard Somali. It is spoken by more than 60% of the entire Somali population.
Somali NS nah its waqooyi. according to research. southern dialects and accents is so mixed due to Arab, Persian and even some south Asian influence.

people keep saying that the somaliland dialect is arabised need to realise that somalias one is influenced by italian. most of the words they were saying are loanwords so it aint deep. somali is only maximum 20% arabic loanwords. also they were only speaking in small conversations so how do you go to the conclusion that somalilands dialect is the same as arabic?

I laugh when I see brainwashed people that cant see any progress but the same gibberish, same slogan such as somaliland somaliland do you want to know the truth UK is only great because of the diverse of people who are here. I was born in so called somaliland and am glad we ended up in the UK.

When we do this we can start not to relaying on ETHIOPIA but out true mite.
By doing this it would means we can get investers to invest in our part of somalia get access to our natural resources. Get the right infrastructure build with our interest in mind.
2) Creat the right laws to help us use the best minds and not tribe.
A person should only be as important as the knowledge they have and if we don't we get our people to learn it and teach it. People that finish top 3 in every university should be In their speciality fled.
Creat special university's for each field we need and get those people jobs in their fields, get the best knowledge in our part of Somalia.
3) Be came a exporter and cut down on emport especially in food we make all we eat or most of it.
4) in our sea we refuse to give any licence to any foreign vessel and protect it really well.
Only we take fish from our seas and not a foreign country.
5) be a example to the rest Somalia in knowledge and state laws.
Bye doing this we can reach the success like we never reach before in our 28 years of peace and people would be glad to be from the north of Somalia way more because of the economic success we would reach in a few year inshallah may Allah make us aware of our pretensal and may we be smart enough to take it.

The official written Somali was created in Burco which is why Burco people speak the standard and best form of the language. All official documents/Music and most importantly Poetry are written and performed this way.

SARA xx yeah most of the words that BOTH were using are loanwords. The somaliland one uses Arabic loanwords and the southern one uses Italian loanwords. Mind you that Arabic only makes up 20% of the somali language. All languages use loanwords.
