Man, here I've been using a prybar and a mallet to take these damn things apart and you used a square shovel? Learn something new every day. Thanks for the vid!
My only recommendation would be to add a horizontal board going across the 3 support boards under each set of shelf boards. The support board under the center of each set of 3 shelving boards is there to provide sag support for the middle of the shelf, but there's nothing supporting that middle support board, it's just free-floating underneath.
@@OfftheGridMakes and please accept my apologies, I can be very rude sometimes. I meant to start with thanking you for the video. I was looking for some ideas on ways to convert pallets to shelves, and really like what you did.
I already dismantled the whole pellet. So I can't do what you've done, haha! Also, I annoyed the whole neighborhood because I don't have a shovel. I used a wedge and the back of an axe. Very metal.
Ac contractor ? As a hvac tech id say explain yourself ? Or i will only install the heat pump unit(ac) and thats it or we going back in time to the window plug ins? Hopefully you meant a mini split lol all jokes
Well that's a tough question. A lot would depend on wheteher you used screws instead of recycling the nails like I did. I guess they are cheap enough to do a destructive test on them?
You couldn't figure it out? You need to hear nonsense like, with no further adew, obviously, as you can see, simply, you don't want that? This video was perfectly understandable
@@richardordonez8331the only thing that was SLIGHTLY confusing was the side slats. Where did he pulls those from sense they looked longer than all the others. And since its a recycle project he didn’t buy them. But other than that, it was all pretty self explanatory with everything he did.
Your telling me I looked up videos to break down a wooden pallet and not one showed me the square shovel method lmao MY NEW FAVORITE PAGE!!!
Thank you. It works for me too!
I literally bought a pallet splitter because I thought there was no other way
Never thought about using a shovel to take the pallet apart. Thank you

Yep can't beat a good old shovel!
Yeah, I spent the evening using a pry bar. Lol! Wish I had seen this first!
The name of the video should be "How to take apart a pallet using a square shovel" 😮
Love that sand paper tool you have made, gonna make me one of those! Thanks for sharing!
Have fun!
Pretty nice. Plus I hot to learn a new trick with the shovel. I usually use scrap wood for my lever.
Great idea and I need a shelf for outside so I'm going to make this one. Another perfect project from RUclips University thanks Professor lol.
Free education! - Can't be beaten.
This is just what I needed mate. Need some shelves in my shed and don’t wanna pay anything for them and don’t mind doing the work 👍🏻
Today's project 😀 my colleague didn't believe the shovel trick would work....it does. 👍 now to attempt the rest of it.
Yes the shovel works well but if the pallets are old with rusty nails it can be a bit harder
Lawn & landscape company here, need more shelving, & have an abundance of pallets. You’re a G brother
thank you
I’ve been using a sawzall for my pallets. I’m going to try the shovel next time.
Thank you at last being shown how to disassemble from start to finish
Yes, I would love one please!
That was quick and easy. Thanks
Awesome tutorial/demo! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
God Bless The Videos that Get to the Point 💯
I agree - should be more of them!
Interesting trick for breaking a pallet down, I’m gonna have to try that one
Be sure to use a sturdy shovel. I have broken cheap shovels doing stuff like this. Actually, maybe buying cheap shovels is the real problem lol
@@RoyArrowood possibly, can confirm that my shovel gave a crack once when trying this
I'll have to try that shovel technique.
Thanks pops ! Got a bunch of pallets and im just to busy to think of my own idea
Nice tricks and nice video!!
Thanks!

Yep that'll work for shelves that have a higher loading. Thanks for the input.

Good job, thank you for the video 👍

whatever gets the job done I guess!
@@OfftheGridMakes Your method is way faster.
How did you make it so tall? Did you have to buy the wood for that? As in to put the two smaller pallet shelves together.
Perfect! Thanks
Glad it helped!
As an AC contractor that uses Goodman/Daikin I think I'd like a shelf with that logo on it haha
Nice

@@mobmob5944 I didn't understand any of that. Sorry
@@RoyArrowood thought you were a “ac”(contractor)?
@@mobmob5944 That's correct
whats the weight limit per shelf ? wanting to build this myself and curious about the limit

Yep… that’s one way to do it.
Should show which pallets are safe for indoor use
Maybe you can help me on that one?
This is the easiest I have ever seen one how many pallets do you need
I believe you could do it with 2 and a bit!
THANK YOU!
Do you think people would buy these from me if I sold them? If so, how much do you think I could get for them?
You can only try. The market will decide what you can get from them
You safe me £30, thanks😊
How many pellets would I need for this?
3 would be enough
I sell pallet slats that I break down
The amount of wood that goes to incineration makes my blood boil!!!
@@TheEssexSpurssell?? There are tons of places that give them away.
@@bananaers1 yes sell. People just want the single slats. Hard work but sometimes £300/£400 worth of wood a day.
Any particular reason you use nails instead of screws?
Well it's supposed to be a recycling project so I thought I would re-use the nails I got from pulling the pallets apart.
@@OfftheGridMakes my boss always said “i bet i can hammer down 5 nails as you drill in 1 screw “ he wasnt wrong
Not a clue what just happened there
Tremendous
The wood all busted up when I tried it.
Yeah, it'll do that. I use scrap wood for leverage which works pretty well, but I still wreck a decent number of boards if they're too thin.
Umm... u may wanna explain what the hell is going on
A picture is worth a thousand words
