A perfect example of an educational project that was first dismissed as a mere fantasy, but now provides even quite a few jobs and economic/tourism income in that region of England. Proof that when you combine creativity with professionalism, you can achieve truly great things.
BEST museum in the Country, it shows you exactly in "snap shots" how life in Durham Coalfields and North East was to a "socially acceptable" degree. I love the place, my Grandfather lived in one of the miner cottages from Hetton-Le-Hole.

A brilliant place to visit..can't wait to go again.
The kids of today have never lived my grandson is 21 this year and is itching to and see this wonderful place
Would be great for the BBC to revisit with this original footage
Just got back from there Tuesday 1st October, it was the 3rd time I have been there, everytime I go it gets bigger and better
I like the store shed items waiting for a turn on display, or to be lent out as a film prop even has an iron lung to roll out for a suitable script
Councillor John Mawston at 19:38. John is a Hero of Houghton-le-Spring and is known as Mr Houghton Feast!
On some of the videos of Beamish, I have seen a Local Policeman Constable out on his beat.
good to see NO 14 running as never seen it running, any more videos of the j21/no 14 running?
Most excellent!
Robert Peel (1788-1850) the Founder of the first new Metropolitan Police Force in 1829 in London.
❤️
What a great story this is.
A film of Frank Atkinson's achievement could be very good.
What parts of beamish are real and man made? Like was it an actual village before the museum?
The 1940s Farm, the mine and Pockerley were already here, everything else was built or brought here for the museum :)
