This is really not best heavy tank for new players don’t have that much armor on hull it’s too fast like medium it’s easy to make mistake with it new players will do better in IS4 ,pz VII ,object 705A and E100 too.
I completely agree i struggled with it when i got it at first bc it was the 1st thing i got and i tried playing it like a heavy. Now that im much more experienced im slowly bringing up my winrate in it trying to undo the damage i did as a new player
I think you showcased pretty well why this tank isn't beginner friendly with the lack of the gun depression and the tank being too fast for the average inpatient tanker.
Its not a new player friendly tank. Little to no gundepression and armor is bit unreliable. 60tp is the best new player friendly tank, and if the whole path to the tank is considered is 4 is the best one. With bit of talent i would even recomend st-ii line over 277. St-ii line is right next to the is4 and lets face it kv3 is better than the is at tier 7. Its a more comfortable grind to is4 and its also clearing a way a fun tank line. For first medium line e50m.
I see your point about the 277 line being beginner friendly and I agree BUT only up to the IS-3. When you reach Tier 9, the T-10, you start to feel less more of a heavy tank and rather more like a heavy-medium tank. The T-10 has LITERALLY no armor for its tier against heavies, but it is compensated by a really good gun and a really good DPM, of course you still struggle with the practically non-existent gun depression and that means you as the one playing that tank has to work it out somehow which I think isn't what BEGINNER players can easily do. Yes you get the same gun depression issue on the IS3 but with the IS3 you are facing much weaker tanks compared to what the T10 faces on average. The 277 is just a direct upgrade to the T10, you become faster, better gun better armor, but by no means a different gameplay.
This, i have much better stats in obj 257 than in t 10 even though they seem to be very similar tanks. Same goes with tank destroyers, i do much better in TDs with high alpha and woth armour than in faster sniper like TDs even though I prefer playing faster tanks in general because going fast is fun
Good video but i respectfully disagree on 277 being beginner friendly. A tank being beginner friendly has to be forgiving for their mistakes. In the soviet tech tree, IS7 is far more forgiving heavy. Making mistakes in 277 is far more punishing than in IS7
IS7 just doesn't have the penetration for me to recommend it to new players. Its between this and the E100. And since the entire line is nice and you learn along the way, most people will understand it by the time you get there.
I forwent hardening for bond vents and use left hand for the first field mod. Hardening doesn't work cause it really cannot brawl, the only effective way is to reverse sidescrape. Gun is also trollish hence why I chose vents (helps maneuverability, perfect charge, and ammotuning skill) The standard shell pen is one of the best thing about this tank (ammotuning makes it even better), 3 marked it recently with mostly AP. Though this tank is not for newer players, it is one of the harder tanks to master and the easiest to screw up in. If you master this tank, you will most likely be able to play well in most heavy tanks and mediums.
Hi, for me the better choice is the WZ-111 model 5A - I don't know why but I find it much more enjoyable to play with than the Obj 277. You could also record something about the WZ-111 model 5A.
I like to play the Vz with the single shot, not so much because of the intraclip but because I despise waiting 20 seconds just to do 900 damage, assuming I pen because the Vz has meh pen and the autoloader just trolls alot, and as much as I love the Vz, there's always matches where I feel like "why am I playing this instead of the 277 or the IS-7, they the same thing but with armor and without 3 weakspots on the turret"
I usually play 277 because it is the most consistant out of is7 vz55 and 277. If i want a different play style i play vz55. Is7 imo worse than the vz55.
the gun-problem is still in play, so to say. I do believe that Mailand had a video out, where he had the same problem on "secure haven" (I think the map is called in WoT).
Nice video, I think its a decent beginner friendly tank as long as they learn by the time they hit tier 10 that just because you are fast, doesnt mean you need to mindlessly rush and die. I actually think the gun on this is pretty good, yes it has trollish moments, but really all heavy tank guns with higher alphas have derpiness
0:22 I am gonna stop you right there WZ-111 5A has 90% of what 277 have. + One second better reload and more gun depression and more trollish hull armor. Sure 277 have better turret when the hull is in cover but on a ridgeline the 111 is so much better and over all it's just better package just because of the dpm and gun depression. And from my experience even the gun behaves better
It is a fast medium tank with crazy turret and fat Russian gun. It is not beginner friendly in my opinion. And if you can afford you should play with the equipment that protects your ammo rack. Trust me, this tank has a great chance of transforming into a convertible at any time.
before I clicked on this video I was in queue on el halluf with my 277 having same build came out with 7k combined this tank is built to dominate best scout in late games with no light left wanna roll with mediums no problem care to brawl with heavies load 340 heat no problem this tank is like your first care you can drive and ware it like a sock but it is pretty hard to master at first
277 is prob the best tank to learn how to properly use armor, gun depression, and rotations since even though armor and gun depression are lacking... you can make it work and its not as dummy proof as an is-7.
The problem with most 277 fan boys is they think they are driving IS-7 or equivalent to IS-7, which is not. IS-7 turret doesn't have weak points unless your penetration is more than 370. IS-7 is faster and bigger. The only good side of 277 is better gun thats about it
What is Max YAPPING abut now? 277 is for good players only as it has non-existent Hull armor and is too fast for newbies. Speed + no armor = big NO NO for a beginner. IS 4 is much better for beginners
So almost every tier 10 tank people play, gives them a negative win rate difference. How does that work? Shouldn't half the tanks have a positive win rate?

Even you, a good player, struggle with gun depression, how do you think newbies can play around it comfortably? In my opinion, a S. Conqueror is much more suitable for a new player. Just needs to learn to play on ridges and if it's flat ground, side-scrape.
I dont know why, but for me the obj.277 feels like a downgrade after the T-10. T-10 is fast, has a reliable gun, reasonable armor and very good sidescraping. Obj.277 has none of this.
277 is absolutely NOT a good heavy for new players. It is very fast = likely to get into a good position too early and get fucked. The armor is mediocre if you don't know how to RSS, and the gun's dispersion is very unreliable. IS4 and arguably IS7 are MUCH more suited for beginners.
match 1..typical match these days...no matter what tier...you just arrieved at your flank and see that half of your team is already dead and a red roadtrain is comming towards you

Those win rate differences are not calculated correctly. All but 10 tanks make you worse, and those 10 only have a slight advantage? It doesn’t add up. They have to balance to zero between the ones making you worse and the ones making you better
For every T10 tank that loses, a T10, T9 or T8 wins. The tank win rate numbers only work if T8 and T9 tanks on average are better than T10. They’ve calculated the numbers incorrectly
@ "Win rate difference" just means the difference between a player's overall win rate and the win rate when playing a specific tank. If your overall win rate is 52%, but you have a 54% win rate in a 277, the win rate difference is +2%. It's a way to measure the potential power of a tank. There's not much to calculate wrong, and it's definitely not a zero sum equation.
I absolutely hate this tank, the gun is so disgusting, there are less accurate guns in the game that hit more often, the shells fly anywhere they want and you will randomly miss E 100 lowerplate from 50-100m, this tank along with IS-7 has a gun with down's syndrome
This game is and remains absolute garbage and should be banned in the EU at least. What is going on here is a complete rip-off, which in my opinion is criminal in nature. Why isn't matchmaking and RNG improved? Because it's ONLY about money. Change the RNG settings a little, misses increase, change the camo and even more rubles start pouring into the mafia's coffers. Even more tanks, even more events, even more loot boxes, even more paid storytellers, ....... It's a disgusting game of lies. Do you really seriously believe that these storytellers have a normal account in this game? They lie to you and fill your pockets. Then there's a little indignation when their employers go too far. You can only laugh at so much falsehood and lies. Which of these indignant people doesn't have a WT on E100? Shame!
While I commend you for trying to help the noobs stay alive, while they advance through tiers much too quickly, these low skilled players are the ones who show up on the teams of skilled players who use a "free to play" account. I try to dissuade new players from playing in the upper tiers, because it seldom works out for them, it's costly for them and it'll most likely cause them to abandon the game as "unwinnable" without a premium account. And we need new players, because as of today WG has refused to do anything about the professional seal clubbing platoons that literally ruin the bottom tiers for new players!

The Obj 277 is definitely not a noob friendly tank
its mostly used in CWs

I love the way you do 4hp damage ramming an IS-7 in the side but take 252hp damage

Stopped playing the Vz after unlocking the 277, favourite heavy in the game at the moment love the 277

Problem that shooting through gun absorb shells happens in recent patches, I'm quite afraid to do that nowadays.

wz 11 5a>277. the only real advantage 277 has is being a bit faster with smaller capolas. 5a has better gun more dpm and more gun depression

The whole line, and then the tank at the end, is a complete package for new players.
On paper it says no armor but the hull armor is super super troll. The hull can bounce way to many shots for the mobility.

Tier 10 is a difficult tier, so it's not surprising that tank WR is lower than a player's overall WR. Compare tier 10 performance with tiers 6 and 8.
