Olivia is really acting like she didn't know shit when we knew that her grades were trash her senior year. Like girl we know you wouldn't be able to go to that school with those horrible grades of yours. She even said that she was not interested in learning and that she was just there for the parties. as someone who's applied to 15 colleges so far and is planning on five more in a month's time, worked their ass off to get good grades and standardized test scores, started clubs at my school and worked hard at extracurriculars, had a part time job through all of it, and been the most stressed out I've ever been in my life & seen most of my friends go through the same thing, I have nothing for this girl. nothing. all I can think about when I see her is that someone like her could be taking my spot when decisions are released. could be taking one of my friends' spots. all she's given me and millions of kids like me is that fear and bitterness. we don't need an apology tour, we need change.

I've been through the same situation with a girl who was just like Olivia, that got into a school because of her mother's influence. I think the whole college admissions scandal is a real slap in the face to all the people who might have applied and did the work to try and get into USC or any other school for that matter, but because of the likes of Olivia, her parents, her sister, and many others who have possibly done the same thing, got rejected. It's even a slap in the face to all the celebrity kids that try to make their own path without their parents' influence.

I have a theory that might be a little controversial but I’m gonna say it; this was damage control and all of them and the red table including Gammy were part of it. One of the most slick strategies of damage control is to go on a show and have the host use the criticism talking points so that the general public would have the impression that there isn’t much left to say and that their concerns have been addressed already, kind of like in the office when Michael Scott is talking nonsense and the other characters act like how a regular person would do and pretend that they are just as shocked, weirded out or annoyed all while being part of the the show as well. Therefore it comes as kind of fraudulent bc even with all those concerns “taken into consideration” Olivia Jade was still given a platform or was allowed in a space to tell her redacted side of the story. The Red Table might make that their thing, bring ppl who have done clownery to the show, have Jada, Gammy or Willow act as the general public and call out the bs and by the end of the show have ppl move on to the next thing. "I didn't spend a dime, most people don't" I disagree with this in that paying for things like private school, or parents paying to move into certain neighborhoods, goes toward that end goal of a student attending X college. I feel like there are lots of explicit and implicit costs that go into it -- whether it be spending the absurd sum of $500K (which really screams a lack of faith in their kids imo) or placing your student in ECs that build skills desired by colleges.
This was the only point I didn’t fully agree with, as well. Maybe she meant something else by it, but yeah, there are a ton of “invisible” indirect costs to attending college and even during the application process. For example, I’m Puertorican and my parents are on the island and we’ve had to pay to acquire certain documents, have a lawyer sign certain things, and pay to have papers expedited to me, which ended up being around $120 dollars total by the end of it all.
She probably meant to apply. Olivia’s parents technically made that purchase for the application which the usual fee might be $50 but nothing remotely close to $500,000
There are studies that prove upper middle class and rich people spend more on their kids education and it directly relates to college acceptances. People are literally buying their way into college and poor kids get told they are less deserving.
