I remember this song on the radio and on Friday Night Videos when I was a little boy. I haven't heard the song ever since. It took me almost a year to figure out the name of the song and the group. It's been bothering me not being able to find it, and when I tried humming on it on google, it wouldn't come up. But now, I have finally found it thanks to the "Lost Rock Songs Of The 80's (Part 7)! But I never heard of Duke Jupiter except for this song. So this song must be one hit wonder I bet. But I'm so glad I finally found this song!!! And I just added this video to my VH1 collection! AALLRRIGHT!! YYEEAAH!!!! I HAVE BLASTED THIS SONG ON MY HEADPHONES!!!! WHAT A FANTASTIC JAM MAN!!!! LONG LIVE ROCK N' ROLL!!!!!!!! 😁🌟💖🤟🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
The name came from our oldest Brother (3 boys in fam) Mike (who used to jam with the band on Saxophone in early days) he was known as “Duke” to the band mates. Marsh Stiler was very quiet originally: so he was on “MARS”, Mike Stiler was (Duke) on “JUPITER” cuz he was big? I was too young for a nickname but my name: Jay Stiler.
I owned The White Knuckle Ride original record when it was released, made a copy on audiocassette and listened to it a thousand times in my car. Still own the record but I never knew about this video until today, reminds me of ZZ-Top videos...
I was in a hard-rock cover band in the 80's, and this was one of my favorites to play. I played guitar, synth and sang background vocals - got to do it all on this fun song.
Back in the 70's and early 80's Rochester was known as Nashville of the North.....so much talent came out of Rochester.......drummer for wings, guitar player for Alice Cooper and of course Black Sheep
And in the year 1985 the music business went into a recession and made a fraction of the music video it had in 1984. MTV lost more viewers and more money in 1985 than any other year. And *that's* why they stop relying on music videos for their programming.
Heard this song 30 years ago. Looked for it dozens of times. could never remember the title. Thanks.....MADE ME SMILE.... As soon as I heard the rooster crow!!!!!
I sing this song to my dog (female) when I play it. "What's a little lady like you driving in an automobile?" Then I imagine her behind the wheel driving a car.
That's why the 80's curbstomped every other decade. Where else could you find a band called Duke Jupiter or Virginia Wolf? Straight out of a sci-fi comic book.
"Duke" was Marshall's older brother Mike, that used to jam on Saxophone with the band back when Earl Jetty was still alive. Earl was the original drummer...(Joshua & Red white and Blues band anyone?) They were 1st called "Joshua Sun", because they didn't have a name yet basically. Marsh was "Mars"... So mike was Duke"Jupiter"... Get it? SUN, MARS, JUPITER etc. go figure... I wish that WCMF would release the original Radio shows they did Live in the studio, (they were very, very good shows) They used to party a lot so probably nobody remembers this all but maybe Greg does... I was too young to do the drinking they did so I remember. Thx, Jay www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/2014/05/31/whatever-happened-red-creek-inn/9783329/
@@feedbaxlow Just the mention of the Red White and Blues Band raised goosebumps. How good were they? I saw them at the Palestra and actually remember how great they were... that says something if you were ever there. Felix Papalardi said something like 'and we're supposed to follow THEM?' But Duke Jupiter is just fantastic, not only a top band in the area, but a really top band overall. And I think I remember Mars St. Miller of Kid being in that name lineage as well, along with.. Lincoln Zephyr? synapses are firing now...

A lot of good blues bands and guitarists in Rochester back then...good music scene.

sicily1973 😁
I've always loved this! Still have the 45 :)
To me, Genesee Beer made Rochester, New York famous, but Duke Jupiter is another good reason to like the place.
Song just popped in my head and I came to find it... love it great times great decade of decadence. They don't write em like this anymore
The only hit on Motown's short-lived MOROCCO label. MOROCCO stood for MOtown ROCk COmpany.
I haven't heard this in decades lol Talk about a song list to history, this is it! 🤣 Thank youn
Let's hear it for back in the day, when MTV actually had music videos!!!
But wasn't 1984 just the other day? HA!!!

peaked as high as No. 68 on the USA Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1984.
Awesome band! Great video quality r1x2f3. All of their albums are "Outstanding"!
Very cool and undeniably rocking epitome of a driving tune . White nuckle Rock !!

Kick ass, lots of zz top influence, pretty awesome music
Rickey is a great bass player. I remember when he played bass in Rockcandy back in the late 80s in Buffalo NY.

Still a damn fun song!!!!
Best cop rock band scene ever! Wow seems not long ago.
I sing this song to my dog (female) when I play it. "What's a little lady like you driving in an automobile?" Then I imagine her behind the wheel driving a car.
Hard to believe its been 34 years. Seems like yesterday. Music was so real back then, and now it's all garbage.
On an album called White Knuckle Ride. Awesome guitar.
Better evertime I hear it
My father was very good friends with lead guitarist Greg Walker..I met him in person when i was a little girl! Very talented
I know their bassist Ricky, great guy, but much shorter hair these days.

This video is brilliant
i think they were going for that Zz top vibe on this one lol
Great example of some of the best music that came out of the 80's. Love the video. Typical look for the LittleLady....down to the super frizzy hair :)
Gran banda y rola
Duke Jupiter una gran banda con un sonido muy similar a Loverboy, Sammy Hagar, April Wine, ZZ TOP de los 80s
Y el video me recuerda a "Stay the Night" de Chicago
Roc city baby!!!!!
This is really awesome.
what a time machine....
I would love to know where they came up with the name Duke Jupiter, it's pretty cool. Sounds like an intergalactic gunslinger. Great song.

For the longest time, I thought this was a ZZ Top song.
Does anyone have the song by Duke Jupiter called "Do it All Again". If you could share that would be great. I have looked for it for years.
Awesome band and great video!
Those dancing traffic cops! :D
You got it! Kinda ironic seeing Marsh and Greg in Police uniforms, LMAO.
Rochester's own.
