hi gareth! do you know if there is a formula that calculate the distance between locations in smartsuite or (even bettter), if there is a specific way to calculate it?
Hi Gareth, I'm a subscriber and a customer. Can you shed some light on how Smartsuite and Zapier/Make automations interact with these compound fields? Does the API "show" each of the subfields and allow values to be entered into them via automation? I've been exploring Smartsuite thanks to your recommendation. While there are a few missing core features that are holding me back from making the switch just yet, I am optimistic about SmartSuite's roadmap. Compound Fields are one of the many "no brainer" ideas they've rolled out with and make me excited.
Great question! To access these "Sub-fields" I've found it helpful to first use a formula to access the specific piece I'm looking for. For example, if I want to send an email to First Name instead of Full Name, I create a new field for First Name and use a formula to extract just the part of the name I'm looking for. In SmartSuite, that would be something like... [Full Name].[First Name] - then I'll use this formula value in my automations.
Soon I believe we'll get the opportunity to access the sub-fields directly in automations!
These subfields are great. I agree they will be even more powerful once make has the ability to access the sub field to. Also I am wondering if Smartsuite might give us the opportunity to create custom sub fields. For example I store a lot of passport information for my entertainers. It would be great if it was just one passport field with all the subfields for the additional details rather than having all of those in separate fields. That is just one example but I have any situations where sub fields could be incredibly useful if we had the ability to custom make them.
Damn... This is pretty impressive. But I got SOOO much invested in Airtable 🤣😅
The struggle is real 😂
