Thank you so much for posting this video, it truly is an inspiration. I was about to give up on my horse and retire him but you have given me the motivation and a formula to work with!
We have a beautiful Andalusian who has signs of kissing spine. We are waiting on a final reading of the radiographic report. I am very encouraged by your video.
hello-she was medicated with a steroid based injection in april she is now being ridden daily and overtaking all expectations- she is now working in a lovely outline without the aid of the bungee and has been introduced to canter work under saddle following several weeks of canter work on the pessoa. i will upload more videos soon of all the above thank you all for watching it means alot to know it is helping others facing this dreadful time with their horses
Hi Rebecca. I have tears in my eyes as it is suspected my horse may have kissing spine. I have scheduled an appt with the vet, but from what I have experienced with my horse, read and seen as I googled, I am concerned. I will tell you tho, your video just brought hope and optimism my way. Thank you so much for putting this together. I hope you and your horse are doing well. :)
Hi Rebecca, how is Holly doing now? I have TB mare who is also having a few troubles and unfortunately, has suspected kissing spines or a similar sort of problem so I was just wandering how your horse is now.
Thanks for making this video- any updates on how shes doing now? My horse recently (In April) got his KS diagnosis-along with a ligament tear- we are just starting the longing and Pessoa now.
Hi Rebecca. Wonderful video. I am having similar problems with my mare. Have done lots of lameness exams on her, tested her for Lyme, ulcer meds, chiropractor, massage, supplements and nothing has helped her. She is at the point that she doesn't even want to brushed. She pins her ears and stoups her back feet to threaten she wants to bite or kick. She has kicked at my hand for brushing her sides.of her belly. She appears to be sore all over. Her hind legs are very stiff and she drags her toes some. Doesn't want to be saddled. Cinchy. One time I was tightening the girth and she.dropped to one knee but continued to eat grass. I have been thinking about putting her down. I have not been riding her for 4 months now.
Bobbie Snider Hi bobbie, I had a physio come out to Holly rather than chiro, it's much more gentle, it sound like you need to manage the pain before you start trying to do more with her (that was Holly's problem in the beginning) you'd need to get your vet to advise on how best to manage her pain first. Once xrays Confirmed Holly had kissing spines I had to start the rehab then she had her back injected with a steroid (like what we have in our joints) cortisone. It helped so much that we could step up the rehab and show Holly that things aren't going to be painful anymore. We went on to compete, hack & really enjoyed life. Sadly in 2014 I lost Holly, I partly blame myself, I had to have major spinal surgery and the recovery was long, I couldn't keep with the work with her to keep her back strong and supple, when I did eventually start riding her the symptoms started rearing their head, xrays confirmed the worse and I wasn't physically able to do what I did before. However... Don't give up on your horse, she probably just sees everything as a negative because of pain or discomfort so is blocking u, speak to your vet like I said. Also for stiffness I use turmeric golden paste, we used it on our old girl and the results were quite remarkable. Good luck x
hi thank you i wanted to post this video for that purpose to try and help others see there is a way i have uploaded some others so please have a look xx
I'm confused. You say that 7 out of 10 horses have kissing spine and only a few recover without surgery? That can't be right. I teach dozens of people and none of their horses have kissing spine, certainly they don't have back problems that require x-rays let alone surgery. I'm not discounting your experiences but I don't think your statistics are correct.
Hi, my stats were given to me by my vet. Sorry for any confusion, like I said in the video I'm not a vet I just did what worked for my horse along with the support and guidance of my vet
This is very good. I also recommend core conditioning for horse by Visconte Simon Cocozza. Excellent book and I am using the exercises for my horse.

Will you maintain using these excersises once Holly is up and running?

I was wondering, do horses suffer with this because we ride them and put pressure on their spines?
