I have a list of projects as well. Dusty house built in the 70’s with electric ceiling heat. Probably much like a yurt dust wise. New shower going in with dust accompaniment. Nice to know others have challenges and accomplish the goals. Your mini split issue seems like dream for me living in the desert southwest. I kept my evaporative cooler because it helps my skin feel much better. When temps reach triple digits we laugh and say “it’s a dry heat”. Thanks for taking us along it reminds me that nothing lasts forever and I will eventually have a new set of goals although they may not be Martha Stewart approved.
Mike, check your local area for what's called an IBC Tote. Most food companies will give them to you for free. Run your split system water to one of those tanks. You can hook a garden hose on to the tank, and water that way. Just an idea.
What happened?!!! I feel like the baby was just born 3 months ago and now he’s walking and talking and has all of those teeth. Where did the time go🤷🏽♀️
Little Man is growing so fast!..and got all those teeth and chatting away…he’s beautiful! All your kiddos are…your “description” of why you live in a yurt and what it is had me rolling with laughter! Too funny!!..blessings guys ❤🙏🏻
The little guy is so adorable! And look at all that hair! Time is flying! Just too cute! Mike, I think it's great that you have kept things real! You are right, on a homestead the chores, projects and repairs are neverending! I don't care who you are, mistakes are made and learned from. The next time is always a bit better than before. You, your family and your homestead have come very far in a relatively short amount of time! Your homestead and family is something to be proud of, don't let anyone tell you different! Take care, guys! Always a pleasure!😀
Mike, please put a screen of some sort on the end of the pipe. You will have bugs and little critters in there, blocking the water flow. My brother had this happen and it flooded his attic where the unit was sitting. Mice! Love your channel and watch all your videos. Blessings to you all from Kentucky.
I'm thinking it's hiding in the top pocket. Kinda like when you lose a sock in the dryer, it's usually stuck inside of another article of clothing. But sometimes... they're just, lost. (Where do they go?😂)
This is your home not just a house. This is where the kids are allowed to be kids. Where your family shares dreams and goals of the future and a lot of great memories from the past. It may not be what others are used to but it's how your family is happy. Don't let anyone negative mess with your kingdom. You have a wonderful family. So much love you can feel just by watching your videos. Keep up the good work! You are both great parents.
Loved this video! You're right about the humidity making it feel hotter. I live in the West and i could never take the humidity in the South. Gotta love my dry heat! Hezekiah is so adorable! Thanks for a great video!
All I could think about was how impressed I was how Mike cleaned up after himself, even putting the screwdriver back in the drawer! When my husband does a project he doesn't put ANYTHING back where it belongs.
Lacey, I love that honeysuckle idea! My youngest son (now a teenager) loves picking the blooms and getting the nectar from each flower. While he's away (visiting family), I will try my hand at making this for him! Thank you! And Mike, I think your project for getting the condensate out of the house and using it in the garden is a very good one. We have one window a/c unit that drains right out onto a paved walkway and we've rigged up a sloped drain pan to catch the water and drain into a 1 gallon bucket. Every time we go out into the garden, there's a bucket of water ready to use and the mosquitos don't get a chance to grow new generations in it because it doesn't sit long! I think the mini-split system is much better than a ducted system for several reasons and the main one is I think the venting and ductwork can really become a headache when you decide to do any changes within a home, even rearranging furniture! I think a mini-split is also more energy efficient, too.
Another thing that no one tells you about a mini split is that the squirrel cage or blower needs to be cleaned, every year. All the dust and moisture creates a crusty mucky mold on the fins. You can either disassemble everything to get to the blower or easier to just remove the plastics and use a paintbrush/toothbrush to clean the blower fins. Your air velocity and overall cooling efficiency will improve a lot with clean squirrel cage. While you're there, spritzing the evaporator coil with a solution or an appropriate coil cleaner of some kind. Might as well hose down and spray clean the outside units too.
Had a wonderful massive honeysuckle vine at my last house, and I miss it so much! Don't the blossoms smell heavenly? Never knew you could make stuff with it. I need to plant one at this house!
I'm really excited you upgraded your dehumidifier water drainage. I have used this type of water to for my plants for decades. I even add fish poo liquid to use as fertilizer. It is safe water. You can filter it and drink it. That is how the space station uses there condensate and the lab in Antarctica.
I love The Urban Harvest. I watch her RUclips channel on a regular basis. She is in South Florida like I am just on the opposite coast. I highly recommend her for those who live in South Florida.
Wow another great video!!! I want you all to know how much I love your content. Keep up the great things your doing. May God continue to Bless you all. Such an inspiration you us all!
😂😂oh my goodness! I got such an understanding laugh when you showed the baby by the drip bucket! I needed that! Thank you! Love how real your family is. Don't change a thing!
So glad you got rid of the hazard. Good job. Always feels good when you're done. You did a smashing good job on it. Now that bundle of cuteness and sweetness is safe. Peace!
Mike, you are so right, sometimes we have to do projects because of lack of funds. That's why I'm stripping bathroom cabinets to paint and not hiring someone to do it for me.😊
Great accomplishments & yes, there’s always something to fix, mend, replace or paint! In my 7th decade & I’m still fortunate enough to do many things on my own but much slower🥰 Thanks for sharing & blessings to all🤗🇨🇦
Mike maybe you should have added a water catchment in and you could have used that to flush the toilets or even run it out to still water the garden with no pressure needed
Hi Y'all, when ? When are you going to add the other yert? I think that you should make a little hallway between teeth, that way you can build three bedrooms and a bathroom on one side and keep the other side as a kitchen, living and extra bathroom only. It will look so good. Like an update home. 👍😁
They have a kitchen and living space in the other yert. I don’t think they re looking for a second home. I think they re thinking more about extra space which would probably be including bedroom spaces for the now 4 kids that they have.
You might get some wall mud and create a texture on the drywall then paint over that. Looks really nice if you like a heavy Monterrey texture. Did my whole house and it was a lot of work but it looked great. I would put a screen over the end under the yurt to keep wasps and stuff from going up the pipe.
I am always taking on a project that I have zero experience in mainly because I just can’t justify spending money to pay someone else to do it. However, I am aware that there are a few jobs that are more suited to someone who is either trained or physically capable (translation- much younger than myself) and at 53 I am hiring out those jobs But there is so much satisfaction from completing a project that I wasn’t sure how to do it or how it would turn out!! Thank you for showing us real life!!
Great job! Now please get a hose draining the condensation as far away as possible from under the house as soon as possible. We just looked at an otherwise beautiful home that had a terrible mold problem because the air conditioner condensation was draining under the crawl space. There’s now $50,000+ minimum of work that needs to be done to remediate the mold and ensuing problems. Those little ones are too precious to risk!
😮 Mike, they what's called a "Keyhole saw", a small handsaw that would work perfectly to cut out those smaller jobs of sheetrock/drywall. It will save on the MONTHS of cleaning the dust (and fiberglass) now in your space. I agree to use what ya got, but sometimes a tiny investment will payoff. This after the fact, I know. Great job though
You did a great job! Yep less moisture inside the cooler it is. I lived out in Cali and in 29 Palms it could be well over 100 degrees but the dryness made it very tolerable, and I am a red head so..yep, and I rarely burned out there as well. I would harvest the water, and make use of it. I am curious, I know the traditional yurt styles, but I am curious, does a yurt have to be round? I mean as long as the roof is braced up and you have your "flooring" you could theoretically make a rounded square or pill shaped building right? I have a dream to live on a homestead. I am getting older and not sure I could save enough, but it's my dream to do so.
Good job, Mike!

Hi.... Mike Dickson and Lacey thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Hezekiah is such a sweetie pie.. i love the way he gets so excited about going outside. Bless his little heart

Just an idea.
Agree…Jason from “Sow The Land” has great water catchment systems going on at his homestead too..and he uses IBC totes as well. 🙏🏻
Why is the drip line inside? Mine is outside.
What happened?!!! I feel like the baby was just born 3 months ago and now he’s walking and talking and has all of those teeth. Where did the time go🤷🏽♀️
It goes by so fast!
Those genes 💪💪🏽😅
I know right?!…the littles get big faster and faster the older I get lol. ❤
True
I didn't even blink!!!
LOL. All I could think when Mike started in with the circular saw was “ it’s a good thing Mike dusted those cobwebs.” 🤣
lol 😂
😅😅😅😅
😂
My mom had a magnet on her refrigerator that said, “Housework is like stringing beads with no knot on the end.”
That is the truth! ~ Lacie
Love your videos❤
I always say, if you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say anything. And when people are grumpy I give theme a big smile.
Mike, this is I think, is your Best video!!! Your personality, camera presence HAD ME IN STITCHES!!! Thank you. 😂😂😂
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a happy baby. Enjoy they grow up so fast.
It feels so good to take care of home projects. At least after it’s done!
That baby is the cutest! He has such an expressive personality. So happy!❤
That is cool get arid of the buckets and create a pipe line out side, great job.
Looking forward to the construction of the second yurt. Ya'll won't know what to do with so much extra room.
Little Man is growing so fast!..and got all those teeth and chatting away…he’s beautiful! All your kiddos are…your “description” of why you live in a yurt and what it is had me rolling with laughter! Too funny!!..blessings guys ❤🙏🏻
How precious is that!!!😘 baby is growing up so fast. It seems like it was just last week you were pregnant!😊
❤
Wow Mike, what a monumental project! Good for you in solving it.
Hezekiah is such a sweet and happy little boy. I can see he brings you much joy. God bless him.
Enjoyed watching you solve that drain problem! Seems as if every home fix-it job makes a giant mess!
Never a dull moment!!!
YOU DID A GREAT JOB 👏

Mike until you find another hook for your baby storage system, use a wire coat hanger to create a hook!

The Honeysuckle leaves are a great natural antibiotic. Check into it since you have an easily accessible place to harvest.
Great idea !
😂😂oh my goodness! I got such an understanding laugh when you showed the baby by the drip bucket! I needed that! Thank you! Love how real your family is. Don't change a thing!

Mike a battery oscillating tool is great for small drywall jobs, and less drywall dust.
Thanks for sharing. I can relate.
Your a good man
goood job
Jah make me happy!
Cool
Mike, you are so right, sometimes we have to do projects because of lack of funds. That's why I'm stripping bathroom cabinets to paint and not hiring someone to do it for me.😊
Hezzi’s such a Toddler! They are so inquisitive at that age!

Steel wool around pipes bottom keeps mice from chewing into house..
Mike maybe you should have added a water catchment in and you could have used that to flush the toilets or even run it out to still water the garden with no pressure needed
Awesome video God Bless you and your family Amen
We can honestly say there is never a dull day at your house. Isn't it amazing how much abundance God has blessed you with. Love watching you guys.

He mentioned a couple of videos back that funds are a bit tight right now so the extra yurt is on hold.
Thank you for the lift!
I really need to focus on what I need to focus on..... 😆🤣🤣🤣😂🙃,- I feel that!
Mike have every thought about getting a peacock they are so beautiful I think the children would love them
You might get some wall mud and create a texture on the drywall then paint over that. Looks really nice if you like a heavy Monterrey texture. I remember you buying a second yurt & having plans to expand your living situation. Where are you on that project?
Lack of funds right now.

Ya met the challenge and won the VICTORY, Mike! What's next? : )
Like that here also with humidity
Good job❤
Hit the like button if you watch this video. It can really help them out.❤
I used to work in renovations and that’s how we used to cut out Sheetrock. You did good, Mike! And how the heck did that baby get so big so fast? 💖💖💖
Don't listen to the negative stuff life's to short for that
Hnnn a jig saw or sawsall?
❤

I'm sure you are on it, but noticed the floor vents that you removed the the underfloor vents from on your last video are still open.
You did a great job! Yep less moisture inside the cooler it is. Good job! So little one tired mom out for a nap huh?
Next time your dusting spray with furniture polish it works lots better
