    You can thank the unfortunate homeless people for the grumpy reception in eastern Washington and many other places around our country. They tend to think they can camp any ware they want and no one will care. The old days of friendly people are disappearing fast. Sad but true.

    There is no shortage of jackholes in Eastern Washington. However you screwed up big time quite a few times. First of all not getting the no trespassing sign. Just because it was placed in the yard back from the road doesn't mean you can drive right up to the sign.The signs generally get torn down or bent in half when placed within reach of a road. Then and most importantly you parked your car in dried grass on several times when it was 106 degrees. You also had a cooking fire in an unsafe location. You're very lucky all they did was yell at you.

    I unfortunately had the pleasure of living in Eastern Washington for 3 years and can, sadly, say this is quite common. Whether it's the rude/mean people or other campers deciding to camp right next to you when theres plenty of other spots and then act like they're the only ones there. That place sucks. Even more unfortunate, is a lot North Idaho is the same way :(

  • @stephenkrawiecki2170
    @stephenkrawiecki2170 Год назад +3

    Yes, those people were rude and they should have better explained their problem of other people parking their cars on the road side. However, diving your car over fairly tall dry grass could cause a huge field fire. This is due to the dry grass making contact with the hot exhaust system of your car.

    Something isn’t it. Unfortunately, these crazies are not limited to that area. There everywhere. I’m a touring cyclist and my guess is 10% of US citizens are certifiable. So far, I haven’t seen this in Canada. You appeared vulnerable to these individuals. I have guerrilla camped out there but was not visible thank goodness. I was on a bike tour in Somerset, NJ and stopped to make a phone call on a Sunday and pulled into a small parking lot of a business that wasn’t opened. A woman came out and started screaming at me she was calling the police. I told her i was just making a phone call and couldn’t do it in traffic and would promptly go. She went back inside and came out with a dustbin of dirt and threw it on me.

      Thanks for sharing your experiences. So sorry to hear how some have treated you. As someone who's done numerous long-distance cycling tours I can relate. Most people have been kind (don't think I ever had a problem in Canada either) but yes, in the USA there are certainly some crazies along the way. I hope you have good experiences from now on!

    About 15 years ago traveling through Oregon wine country we stopped off a rural road to walk my dog. Walking my dog on the side of the road a woman approached me to tell me I was trespassing on her property. I asked, "on the side of the road is your property"? Yes, she replied. In California people walk their dogs on others front yards all the time, and long as they pick up after their dog, I have never said a thing. Sorry you ran into so many unpleasant people, a lot of paranoia nowadays. Stay safe Rockhopper, excellent work as always!!

      Yes, people can be strange. I wonder if she really owned by the side of the road? Some people act like they own property they don't, I've learned. Thanks for sharing your experience. More good videos coming!

    30 years I went looking to fish Crab Creek. I could not find the public area and slept next to the creek where a rancher woke me up at 6:00AM. He said I had to go but was ok with me catching a trout the night before.

    Unfortunately, there are pockets of people like this where I live too (west-central Texas). One of the worst things about them are that they all claim to be Christians. That is, the New American Christians, where the word of Jesus has been twisted to the point where "Compassion" and "Mercy" mean "making a clean headshot".

    Catching up here, better late than never. Sorry you got caught in a political climate with lack of compaction. Some followers of Jesus have lost the way, and now follow a Demagogue. The economy in small farm towns is very depressed, mechanized farming or mechanical labor. The need for people to support the industry is gone and so are the hard -working God fearing folks, and business. It used to take hundreds of workers to farm, now 4 or 5 do all the work. One other thing, remember your car is equipped with a catalytic converter they start lots off fires. In dry grass or a wheat field and a fire in that part of the land can be devastating. thank you

    Igrew up there. Never had a problem. Try any big city. They are much worse. It's simple, keep off peoples property. People there work hard and pretty much want to be left alone. I've lived all over and they aren't even close to thw meanest.
