At 5:45 Wow! I would pay top dollar to trek around the Savoia glacier and behold that view. Just unbelievably grand scale. The way you can see the Negrotto col and the Magic Line from that side of the mountain.
Amazing! How these guys dared to climb k2 with just the basic equipment of that day is a testament to thier drive, tenacity and skill. Surely someone could build a bridge over that river by now but then again crossing it is part of the adventure but then again the bridge would save lives.
Yea you can find them all over. Christ you seriously think Everest or any mountain is only people that never climb?!? What TF.....you 12 or what? How could any adult be THAT ignorant & uneducated on something so basic? You are aware these people and ALL OF THEM back to the 30s used Sherpas right? Cuz that's what your saying cuz Sherpas are used to haul crap that somehow that makes someone not a climber or real. Just insane level of using zero logic or can't use google I guess
Fantastic doc……..RIP to mountaineering legend Nick Estcourt
❤
What an amazing 3 part series. I can't believe this has so few views and likes. These climbers are/were extraordinary people.
my dad taught nick estcourt at school, said he used to go off and do bonkers solo climbs
Thankyou very much for the upload. I've waited ages to see it.
RIP to all lost on K2.
+Paul Preddy It's my pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.

There are many treks that go that way now to Concordia and K2 etc. so I am sure there is a proper bridge.
You're thinking of the 75 climb, this climb didn't just use basic equipment....pay attention
@@3vimages471yea NOW.....this was in 1978
Nick was only 7th killed mountaineer on K2. The 6th before him was Mario Puchoz in 1954

Nick died then.
Joe Tasker is killed on Everest with Pete Boardman on the Bonnington led climb of Everest later.
.
An area of strange beauty.....cue the South American pan pipes!
Good to see real professional climbers on a mountain for once!

How brave you guys are
How did the porters cross the torrent back without the help of the expedition ?
The very same way they came, bearing in mind that they didn't have loads to take back or westerners to deal with.
Doug Scott. Passing resemblance to J.L.
Its John Lenon.
I am the walrus dude.

If you watch "Bonington : Mountaineer" you bear witness to the massive emotional toll taken on Chris losing so many close friends. It's heartbreaking.
