Grand Dolly's home is SO beautiful!
It is. It was in a magazine once.
You need to allow Grand Dolly to keep Gaines more often. Gaines needs to learn that you may go away for a few hours but you will be back. The downside of both of you home with her all the time, is that is what she expects. She will quickly learn . And it's ok to let her cry sometimes. She has to learn that she can't always have way.
I have a hard time leaving my kids with a babysitter so I feel bad agreeing with this... but I do :)
yea but grandolly isn't a baby sitter it's her grandmother and she's completely fine and safe... the more often you do it the easier it becomes
+Caren Ross My exact thoughts!!! Being stay at home parents is soooo great, but this is the down side. She has learned that either Mommy and Daddy are always there to give her their undivided attention. You all love her sooo much which is so easy to see why, she's a great little baby. She deserves, though, to learn to be her own little person now. Show her Mommy and Daddy are just as important as she is. You have great family members, and remember that it takes a village to grow a person!!!

I completely agree! Cullen and Katie don't allow her to cry and they are always with her like you said bc they both work from home. The only way Gaines is going to learn is to have them leave occasionally and allow her to see its ok and not spoil her.
I hope someday Gaines has prom, proposal, wedding, pregnancy photos taken in that same spot. Such a special possibility

It is so important to have "US" time as parents!! My daughter has horrible separation anxiety, I use a carrier, but when I really need to get stuff done I put her in a safe area with some toys and let her fuss for a few minutes until she preoccupies herself. It's done well for us and even eased up on her anxiety! Good luck guys!
It's ok for her to cry. They learn real fast when they cry, they get what they want. It's better to let her learn to entertain herself, so she doesn't panic when you leave the room.

when I worked at a daycare with babies-2 year olds, a lot of kids had bad separation anxiety, and the best thing was the parents being calm and acting like they've left the baby there a hundred times. They definitely sense the apprehension in mom and dad and when mom and dad act confident, baby will be too. There will be tears and melt downs, but lingering parents made the kids more upset. So be confident! You know you're leaving her with people you and she can trust and have fun with, she just needs some time to figure it out. And in time, she's going to run away from you and tell you to leave, so enjoy the tears as weird as that sounds haha..
I have never commented on your videos before, however I definitely wanted to say that you NEED and Ergo baby carrier! That's how we get stuff done, especially outside the house. Pop her on your back (not your front) and she gets to enjoy the ride and you are hands free! It's amazing!!

I have two little ones and would give ANYTHING to be able to have family close by to keep them. It's so important for them and you to take little breaks now and then! Our wonderful family lives 15 hours away and me & my husband gets very little time for dates...
I'm jealous of grandberry riding her bike on the racetrack!
Everyone thinks that toddlers shouldn't be allowed to cry. But that the one of the first ways they learn to manipulate. They see if I cry, I will get what I want. It starts early. If she is in a safe place like a gated playroom or pack n play, there is nothing wrong if she cries for a few minutes while you do the laundry and then come back and show her you are still there to reassure her.
The very first 10 seconds is why I love you guys and your channel! Thank you for the constant laughs!

I do as much as I can while my little one is napping or if there are chores I absolutely have to do while she is awake I wear her! She loves it:)
I love you guys to pieces. I honestly do. If you tip toe around while she's sleeping you'll never get anything done. She has to learn how to self soothe. If you pick her up every time she cries she knows that's all she has to do for you guys to come running. I raised three children who slept through me vacuuming. Sometimes letting them cry hurts you more than it hurts them. Its tough not to go to them but it gets better. Watch super nanny, its awesome. It saved my sanity.
Those of us without baby sitters just don't get stuff done! lol

I teach a baby music class here in Boston and there was a little girl who came in with this exact outfit on. We sang '5 Little Ducks' in her honor. Super cute!
As a nanny, I have experienced that parents that linger, drag out goodbyes or come back multiple tines just makes it much more difficult on the child, parents, and babysitter. I have also noticed that kids if they cry usually only cry for a minute or two. I'm not a parent ,but its just what I have noticed. :)
We're military and have no one near us to help watch our kiddos. It's rough! When my oldest was around 18 mos I put him in a Mom's Time Out program, 2 days a week, for 3 hours at a nearby church. It helped him to learn to be around other adults than just my husband and I and it also allowed him to be around kids his own age and get that interaction. It allowed me to get things done I needed to or just have time alone for me time.
The little duck costume/sweater was the cutest! And yesss it does feel good to be just with your hubby without the worry of the kids in my case since I have two boys, but I'm dealing with the separation anxiety with my 1yr old and its bad we just haven't gotten to to point to leave him last time we did was when he was a baby so he didnt really know but looking forward to reading some advice !
put her in a safe room baby gate up and u can see her they can see u. and the room is baby proofed

My daughter went through this phase where I couldn't go into another room without her freaking out. They do grow out of it, we literally just had to grin and bear it and wait it out, once she learnt it's ok to be in another room then it got so much better. We've never left her overnight but the more we've left her with my mum the better she has got coz she seems to have learnt we will come back. I hate hate hate leaving her but it's definitely done her good xxxx
The cutest thing ever was when my neice saw Cullen&Katie together and she said Hi for the first time!!!!!!! I was so excited!! Thanks Cullen and Katie lol.

Grandolly's house looks gorgeous!
I started when my daughter was 6 months and sitting up, putting her in her crib or pack n play with toys so I could do laundry or clean the kitchen because my husband is always gone to work. Now since she turned 1, I made her a playroom and she will play in there by herself while I get things done. She will come out from time to time to give me something or look at me, laugh, and run back in but its nice that she can entertain herself at times when I need to do things.

It's so nice to see you reconnect! I love MG she is adorable but it's nice to see both of you enjoy each other 1 on 1 and see the love you have for each other. It's hard with a baby to appreciate each other with all the hustle and bustle of raising a baby and vlogging but both of you are such a cute couple and I'm glad we got to hear you reminisce on the past and see the love that brought you where you are today! Love you guys!

As far as getting things done with a baby... I do things a little at a time throughout the day knowing my baby can only be entertained for so long by himself or I try to get things done when he's napping (which I'd rather be doing with him instead of doing stuff). So it may look like I have nothing done but I at least accomplished a little of something. It's definitely hard but the way I see it, they are only young once and who cares if the dishes aren't done one night or the laundry is not folded or put away right away, it's those memories you created with your little one that matter the most.
Katie my best advice is let your mom or Cullen mom watch her every so often and get out and do what you did today. You are going to have to make it where she will take a nap and be ok with out you in the room. She will eventually get tired enough to nap somewhere else and she will be ok. Sometimes well most of the time it is harder on us as parents then the baby. Good luck y'all are doing awesome Gaines is a happy healthy girl. Ps with my son at least around 1-2 we hardly ever got to finish a meal at s restaurant because he was always too bored.

Katie, if you find out how to get things done with one year olds, let me know! Believe me, I'm a stay-at-home mom of 16 month old twins and I really only get anything done when they are napping. You are so blessed to have both you and Cullen home to be with her. I wish I had an extra set of hands with me, bc my two are into everything. You turn your head for one second and they're crawling into furniture, chewing apart the toys, etc. It's never ending. :(

i am a baby sitter and the baby babysit was about Macey Gains' age when i was siting for her and she would always scream and cry when the parents left but what you don't know is that after you leave, they calm down quickly and play happily! it's just a matter of practice and distraction and cooperation. he baby is now turning two on Halloween and she doesn't cry at all when her parents leave so it just take time!
My son was the same way at that age. He's two and half and is still very clingy and has separation anxiety. I'm a single mom and I pretty much do everything when he's asleep. I stay up late and do laundry and clean. It's not easy.
How to get stuff done--> A few things: I strapped my kid to me sometimes, other times I distracted with healthy snacks, and lastly I let him cry sometimes. I would leave the room, he'd cry, I'd come back, he'd still cry. lol Eventually he learned that even though I left, I'd be right back.
"Gaines is a high maintenance sleeper, she doesn't sleep just anywhere." Omg, too funny! You two have long been due some alone time without the baby. Believe me, it will make you better parents and give MG a break as well. Enjoy!
I have three boys that are 19, 17, and 10 and when they were the age of Gaines I was a stay at home mom where my husband worked outside the home. I always had to put mine in a pack and play for a little while to play and entertain themselves just till I got what I needed done always where they could see me.

That duck costume quacked me up when it swallowed her face! lol I think Alex was 5 or 6 months old the first time we left him with a family member to go out.
My son who is now 11 had separation anxiety when he was a baby too. I will get better:) ashton slowly started to realize when mommy left the room I would be back he would cry but eventually it taught himself oh wait mommy is coming back:) you guys are such amazing parents
Also my daughter is almost 13 months and after her 1 year check up we threw away bottles and pacis. I noticed her really starting to always want a paci and I figured we should ditch them before she got to attached to it. It's been 3 weeks and she's totally fine! I think I made our lives so much easier because the longer you wait the harder it will be. Maybe find her a blanket or stuffed animal to comfort her instead. My daughter loves her blanket.

As long as she's okay, not in pain or any harms reach, letting her cry for a little isn't gonna hurt her. I suggest a slow transition Gaines is used to you guys always being there and picking her up the second she cries I would reduce that in increments maybe next time when she cries wait 10 minutes and then see if she's OK maybe the next time 15 minutes and then she if she's OK and so on and so on so she can get used to the idea that you're not going to pick her up every single time she cries. You guys are awesome parents and will figure this out! (:
Yep, you just don't get things done unless it's nap time or after they go to sleep.
I would suggest maybe teaching her the words "i'll be back" while you are at home. You can tell her "I'll be back" or "I'll be right back" whenever you go into a different room to do anything, and when you get back in the room with her tell her "I'm back" Eventually she will associate those words with you leaving for a little while and then always returning and saying "I'm back" Just make sure she is facing you whenever you teach her the words, and that she isn't distracted. You can practice this several times at home until she is comfortable with it and then practice it when you need to drop her off at Grandmas again. I hope this helps. Gaines is such a sweet little girl. I love your channel!

I was a single mom of two boys, now grown. I used what ever I could. I used the t.v., baby carrier, worked during their nap time, you just do it.

My son had his first night away from us at 3months old, and only a handful of times since he's now 2 and he doesn't have any issues being away from us, he goes to nursery and loves it..
And regarding getting stuff done with a 'on the move baby/toddler' my son was quite easy going and would happily sit in his travel cot (pack and play) with toys or a cartoon
