A great site to visit. One can sense the ancients there. The area around the site is probably very much like it was 2600 years ago. Farm land, scattered homes. A population today probably smaller than during Roman times. Watch these videos on Paestum and do a little more searching on the Greek, Lucan and Roman history there...it will greatly add to your enjoyment visiting there. Well worth the visit. Also, some great B and Bs in the area and restaurant prices are more reasonable than in Pompei and Rome. Enjoy!
