The tips are great. Also, try having a routine the last 30 minutes before going to sleep such as putting the phone down, turning off the computer and getting some water. Your routine can vary, but doing this every day will let your mind and body know it's time to fall asleep. Soothing sleeping music can also calm down your brain from overthinking and relax your senses into sleep.

I used to struggle with that a lot until I started sleeping on a consistent schedule (I didn't choose to, I had kids) - same time to bed, same time up in the morning, with a good 8 hour stretch between. This means not sleeping in on weekends. It locks in your circadian rhythm so that your body knows when to expect being up every day according to how your hormones are synced with sunlight. I've been getting up at 7am consistently for about 3 years and I feel like I can get up so much easier now. The few times I've slept in on a saturday, I felt terrible for days after and I struggled to wake up the next few mornings.

Tbh I had that too and I can tell you it's more about motivation than anything. As a student I constantly fell back asleep after setting the alarm back to snooze, because I just cba to get up and go to school. But having a job that's just a lot of fun to me with nice co-workers made it so much easier.

Misty Fugate sleep is so important. Only 2 hours a night is terrible for your health. Weight gain, excess cortisol, stress, lack of productivity, aging, and sleep deprived psychosis. If so doctor mikes tips don’t work, find a professional that can at least introduce you to a more natural substance to help you fall asleep. If I’m desperate for sleep, I’ll take 1/4 of a melatonin. Or valerian root. I don’t take these things every night. Just when I’m trying to get enough sleep and want to preserve my health the next day. Good luck!

I had terrible anxiety, mostly when I slept, for many years. I would fall into bed, exhausted, only to immediately think about everything from grades to nutrition. I ended up with a few hacks:
1)My mom had recommended to listen to books or television shows, but when I did that I would stay up to hear what happened. I finally found the solution: Listening to books in other languages. Personally, I listen to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in French. It distracts me from my fears, but doesn't keep me up.
2)Remove the clock. It makes each minute feel stressful, and you get even more nervous.
    3) Create a schedule and stick to it. Like really. Do not change it. I even set an alarm for when to start going to bed.

    *Step 1:* Find a friend.
*Step 2:* Give them a brick.
*Step 3:* Have them throw it at your head.
*Step 4:* Fall into a coma and have a nice, long sleep.
Edit: If you’re having trouble on step 1, like many others are, throw the brick up and have it land on top of your head.

    Very instructive,
But there's something that felt wrong about caffeine, half life doesn't mean that it'll take twice that time to fully eliminate,
It means that it will take that time to eliminate 50% of the previous quantity.
    So 6h to eliminate 50%,
then 6h other hours to eliminate 50% of the remaining 50% and so on.
So way more than 12h to achieve a negligible quantity, that's why it's highly recommended to drink caffeine as soon as possible during the day.
Also I would've appreciated if you'd given the time before bed when we should decrease light and blue light because "before sleep" or "during the evening" is not very accurate. And i see different opinions on that everywhere.
    Otherwise, I loved that video!

I agree about the sleepy driving thing.
I once had to drive 60 miles on like 4 hours and was ok (mostly because I was excited), but on the way back I was really struggling. Right about the time I saw the rest stop sign I blanked out (probably micro sleep) and when I came too I was like ‘I have to stop or I’ll die’. Wound up sleeping like 45 minutes and felt 100% better.

Could you please do a video on melatonin supplements? Safety, use advice and cautions

    • @udaythambimuthu3176
      @udaythambimuthu3176 6 лет назад +4

1mg of melatonin is the only real effective dose, and that depends on the specific pill formulation.
Any more than that disrupts the body's normal reaction to melatonin.
      Classic case of increased tolerance.

Get out of the shower and slip under your cool bedsheets and you’ll be asleep in no time. Melatonin pills also work SO well to assist in falling and staying asleep. I also keep a fan running in my bedroom at night because the noise helps me sleep.
