Slight mistake; The Nuggets actually lost to the Clippers in the 06, playoffs, not the Lakers. That was also the year a 44 win Nuggets team finished as a higher seed than the 60 win Mavs due to division rules guaranteeing the division winner a top three seed.
@@ForgottenPlayerProfiles Really been enjoying these videos! Camby was always one of my favorite Nuggets players. Would really like to see a video done on Rony Seikaly. He was another center that if it wasn't for injuries, and better luck on the teams he was put on, may have had a bigger career.
Camby is not forgotten his time with the knicks and nuggets both for years had promise for chip and camby was always a very important piece to those teams
This channel is great! Theres so many great players that have been forgotten ( Glen Rice, Nick van axel, Larry Johnson, Bogues, Richard Jefferson, Ben Wallace, to name a few) I grew up watching these players and its great to see them on here.
Growing up in Mass, I was always a huge fan of Camby. Ever since him going to UMass Edit: such a great defender and even had a minor rivaly with Duncan in college
I was in UMass when Marcus Camby was there. He was fragile. After his freshman first game, he was walking off the court. With nobody near him, he somehow tripped and injured his knee. Was out for two weeks. Kinda like what he did in Toronto in his rookie year.
I think right there with Ben Wallace and Dikembe Mutombo as best defensive big men (I'd rank him below Wallace and Mutombo). Maybe if plsying in today's game he would've contributed more offensively since the game isn't as physical as it was when Camby was in the league
Just discovered your channel n absolutely love it. U might have already done it, but Id love to see one on Antoine Walker...."Cybertoine"/"Employee number eight.... He was one if the best rising stars in the world during his time in Kentucky and with Boston. He was never a very disciplined player/athlete, and gained weight, went through a ton of money and relationships and in turn it affected his production on the court. Despite all this Walker remained in the league for quite some time, even winning a championship with Miami. Unfortunatley he ended up bankrupt and never came close to reaching his potential in the league. He had the talent and size to be a first ballot HOFamer.
Man I miss Camby's defense on the Knicks. We lost the finals in '99 but nearly every game was close as hell. If Ewing had been healthy - who knows. Because the only help Camby had was from Kurt Thomas and damn Herb Williams. A healthy but over the hill Ewing possibly would have made a difference against a healthy but over the hill Robinson. Honestly Duncan was just unstoppable in that Finals series. I think he averaged 27 and 14 for the series.
Great videos! Love the content! I think another good player similar to Camby and make a video on would be Theo Ratliff. Looking forward to your next uploads.
Camby was a defensive beast. If he was on a GSW type team. Playing the Draymond type role. Defense mostly and a lob threat on offense. Sorta like Tyson Chandler did for the Mavs. The year they won the title.
When he played for portland his old ass would still be blocking a ton of shots i was like him and oden coule have lock the paint no shots allowed but never happened
Ed O'Bannon... I remember the hype surrounding him and he ended up being a total bust... like Joe Smith had a better career than O'Bannon... yeah, do O'Bannon next.
In high school, there was a guy that used to argue with me that Marcus camby was better than Tim Duncan. This was when they were in college. Right before pros. Yes, camby had hype in college and was a very good pro, however, to me, even in college it was obvious who Duncan was.
basketball is offense and defense. if we get to glorify offense only players eg; trae young. we should be allowed to glorify the defensive specialists of the sport.
if I'm not mistaken he outplayed Duncan in college when they went head to head so that's why a lot of people thought he was going to be better but Duncan just kept on getting better and better.
@@slicktom300 still doesn't make him better. Look at those rosters and tell me Melo didn't have an all around better squad. Bron was setting records his rookie year
I agree though I think it was close but at the same time some fans seem to think it was a robbery when it wasn't a robbery at all. Numbers were similar with I think LeBron having more assists, steals, and blocks. People use the argument Melo went to the playoffs which is true but the Nuggets were healthier that season than the prior year and had more talent than the Cavs that year. Camby was a good established player, Nene was good, Andre Miller was an experienced solid point guard, Voshon Leonard was an experienced solid shooting guard. Cavs had an inefficient Ricky Davis who didn't even play a full season with the Cavs, Carlos Boozer in his second year, and Ilguaskas. People act as though LeBron had a somewhat talented team when it's second best player in Boozer was still young and Ilguaskas was always a solid to good player but was never great. People think Melo joined the Nuggets and turned them into a playoff team right away and ignore who the Nuggets added that off-season and how Camby was healthier.
You forgot his great game against the seatlle sonics....where he set a record for the quickest triple double in nba history...against westbrook and Durant...

KG is AD’s ceiling, HOF talent on both sides
I remember seeing the Camby comparison on that draft site, forgot the name.. but AD definitely exceeded the floor lmao
Anthony Davis is nowhere near as good as Camby defensively. A healthy Camby was very Rodman like defensively.

I thought his athleticism was underrated during his prime, it wasn’t mention enough as one of the most among centers
Just wish Toronto Raptors never traded him..could of had a young Vince Carter + Prime Camby
The raptors could of been an all time great squad why didn’t they keep the core

Marcus was a 2way beast @ UMass b4 well you know...
How about an Allan Houston and Ike Austin video? Ike was the Most Improved Player!

Marcus Camby is in the same category of Kawhi Leonard. Injuries will always cast a shadow of what their careers could of been without the injuries.
That's one of the dumbest takes I've heard in a while. Kawhi is a thousand times the player camby was.
