Y’all are amazing, I am 13 so I don’t have the money to get in the hobby but if I did I would totally use your link. I like watching your videos the are so inspiring
Thank you for showing not just the crash, but your human reaction to it. Most of us do get upset at first when something bad happens, especially to a favorite thing. Then we assess and some give up and some move forward. We got to see you go through that, and move forward rather than giving up. Best part was how you close with a thank you to the reason we are all here. Also, it was wonderful to see Abby working to help you feel better and see things weren't as bad as they first appeared!
One of the things I really enjoy about your channel is you don't edit out the mishaps. I got into RC because of you guys and i still find inspiration by knowing how much experience you have, things don't always go as planned. Keep up the good work !
This video demonstrates the reality of the hobby for beginners! We all crash more than we will admit to it but it makes us better pilots in the long run. NEVER GIVE UP! Thanks for showing this Nate and Abby.
Well. I once posted that you guys were a big reason I got the confidence to start in this hobby. Now years into it and 30+ planes owned now. (Thanks!!!) I will tell you that your crash on this video is one of the things that keeps me in the hobby! Because EVERYONE crashes. Remember newbies, every plane has an expiration date! Keep up the great format guys!
Your comment means So Much to me my friend, Thank You! 🙏 I’ve had a rough couple of days and some of these comments really haven’t helped. Seriously, you rock and I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying the hobby as much as you are! Here’s hoping you get something super awesome under your tree this year!! 🎄👍💯⚓️
When we fly a lot, we will crash. It's just a matter of when it's gonna happen. This is the nature of this hobby... but we learn from each crash and have more and more fun... you are an awesome pilot Nate, I love your channel guys - Nate And Abby! god bless you two and everything you love.
It seems we have some in the comments of this video that are in face, perfect humans lol! Man, I greatly appreciate your honest perspective. It really makes me question why I bother to post my crash videos. Used to be, I never got much backlash but I just think there’s so much hatred in the world now no matter what we do it’ll get someone upset about something. Sigh. Thanks for hearing me out my friend. Hope you have a great weekend! 👍💯❤️😎⚓️
Nate, thanks for sharing your accident with us. It just shows us how challenging and unforgiving flying jets can be. It looks like you bounced and tried to go around, but the jet had insufficient thrust and was too close to stall speed to enable the go around. Literally, not enough speed for a go around and not enough speed to salvage a decent landing. As a commercial pilot, the one big thing I miss, in flying RC, is having an airspeed indicator. With an airspeed indicator, you always know your margin above stall. In a low inertia RC plane, maybe the speed brakes are too much drag, when combined with the drag from the landing gear and flaps, such that the plane slows down so quickly, there's hardly enough time to stick a good landing, before your out of energy. Also, for a go around there's that much more drag you need to get rid of. I look forward to seeing you fly this plane again.
I think you absolutely nailed it! I probably need to land this with a significant amount of additional throttle if I’m going to have fuel tanks, flaps, and air brakes all in use at the same time! I’m grateful for comments like yours as I learn a lot from them! Thank you, and thanks for watching! 👍💯😎⚓️
Nate, I'm one of those "would of, could of, should of" guys after I crash (or "land" in a tree). Usually takes me several days before I finally stop beating myself up and just accept the loss and think about what I might have learned from the crash. Really, when you stop to think about it, it is only an expensive toy. 😊
Nate, I so appreciate your honesty by showing the good and the bad. I know it was painful but, God is good and you'll fly again. No one got injured, so all is well.
Sir, it is a electric foam plane with nobody around in the air field, he is flying a rc and not IN the plane, no one got injured is expected! if you go to any flying field on any weekend, you will see plenty of crash and nobody got injured!
I have long noticed something you do in that landing patern. You can be at a really good altitude passing by, but as soon as you start your turn in to final You increase your altitude, leaving you to almost dive in once you're lined up with the runway. That gives you a glide path that increase your speed instead of bleeding it off. Especially when you try to make a nice landing right in front of the camera.
You’re exactly right about that! I’m not sure why I do this honestly. Maybe it has something to do with that tree line? I feel like having altitude to control airspeed is better than using throttle to control airspeed on that final. With depth perception being a big limiting factor, I can see how fast it’s “falling” as opposed to the alternative, I think. But honestly most of this is done subconsciously and I’m just thinking through the process now while writing my reply to you! Great observation though! 👍😎💯⚓️
Aw man that is a bummer! That Sabre is such a beautiful RC aircraft. As a fairly experienced flight instructor I would recommend going around anytime you have an unstable approach or a hard bounce like that. Often pilots will try to “save it” resulting in pilot induced oscillation (progressively worse bounces) and damaging / crashing the aircraft. Glad it doesn’t seem too badly damaged though and you’ll have it back up flying again soon.
It's a jet you got to keep your speed up on landing. I think you should be deploying the air breaks only after you've touched down to slow the run out. You're destabilizing the flight characteristics by deploying them earlier.
Your landings are usually spot on. I’d leave the air brakes OFF until you are on the ground rolling out. Then deploy them. Plus you’d get to see them as they open.
I maidened mine yesterday and it was awesome. Easily in my top 5 jets. Lots of power, smooth flying and handles so well. I'm using an SMC 5900 HVLi pack on mine. FMS did outstanding on this plane.
I'm in love with mine! I have the yellow stripe one "The Huff" and I would literally cry If I crash mine. It hurts my soul to see that! So sorry to see that!
sorry to see this a classic tip stall. you did your best to recover, left rudder may have helped, but you were 100% correct in blasting the throttle wide open. as you said , lost concentration on the approach, a late application of up elevator , which popped it back up in the air. so sorry for this, but it is the game we play
The day every RC pilot just feels that sickness in the pit of there stomach " oh nO " , kinda like sliding off of a snow covered road , your just kinda there for the ride at that point... Nate just hop on that Saber again... don't doubt yourself , if it was me , there would be nothing to save lol... and at the end of the day your both safe and the plane will fly again. Cheers to you both , and definitely nothing to be embarrassed about , thanks for sharing.
Ok I ALMOST called dude out over blaming the military jets doing military things at an operational field to boot. Until he said, boy am I mad at myself. He knew it was on him, literally said it was his fault. Hes human too, got pissed right away just like any other guy would then owned his shit and laughed it off. I like the videos, both of you do an excellent job. Keepem coming!!
Thanks for catching that! Some have missed it and just needed a reason to go off on me or something. Appreciate your paying attention there and even taking the time to comment on what happened. Have a nice weekend! 👍💯😎⚓️
Bummer Nate! Ultra light joint compound will fix the chips in the foam nicely! Those air brakes seem to induce some instability-maybe below stall speed?
Awwww,,it will be ok Nate!! That was a BUCKING BRONCO landing and it was FUN to watch (sorry)!! But I KNOW we're going to see it again and I can't wait!! Isn't it Abby's now?! Thanks Saylors for the honest crash!! 💟👍😎
You had me wincing in pain. She is too beautiful to crash. Art project to bring it back. Nate...we want to see the repaired, color-restored, flying, finished plane🍺cheers.
Mine has just arrived here in NZ, and still getting her set up ready for test once the winds die down. Was wondering what would happen when speed brakes were applied while in the air. Now I know they create quite a bit of drag. Thanks so much for sharing this, you may have saved quite a few models. I will set my speed brakes up on a separate switch to the flaps, so I can just open them after touchdown if needed. Cheers love your channel and honesty. Great to see the good with the bad. 👍
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, as the ol saying goes. Nice sunny 🌞 day for flying. Don't worry Nate, you will fly again. Abby your videoing was Spot on, you really never lost de plane. 😊. ⚓️⚓️👍💛🧡💚👍🌞😊👍⚓️⚓️.
Flying RC means flying with distractions. Only way to fly RC with no distractions is on the simulator (RealFlight). I fly fullscale too, and there are tones of distractions there as well. You just gotta learn to tune them out; or if you cant, maybe choose another place, time, or aircraft to fly. As far as the landing goes, I would sugest controling your decent rate with throttle instead of elevator. That will allow you to settle into ground-effect already having a little bit of backpressure on the elevator, so that you can bring the nose up without balooning through your flare. It is all about bleeding off airspeed before letting the mains touch the runway. Tricky to do, because if you flare too high (outside of ground effect), you stall with no room or time to recover. If you touchdown without doing a good flare first, it is like skipping a rock off of a pond. Full scale does the same thing. Think of it like... transitioning the weight of the plane from the wings to the wheels, if that mekes any kind of sense, lol! Best thing you can do, get yourself a "basher", an EDF you dont care about, and put 6 or 8 batteries of nothing but landings through it every time you go out to fly. Nothing but touch-and-goes over and over again, until it is just second nature. That'll set you right, thats how I learned! Took me ages to get good at landings... still think i can use more practice, lol! Really really tricky to do, and harder then full scale, if you can believe it, lol! Good luck!
I got to see Dale Snodgrass put on a show in the F-86 (an F-14) at NAS Oceana years ago. They thought he had damaged the plane as he was so comfortable in the 86 and got so low crossing show center, lots of dirt kicked up when he pulled up! The crowd could hear him in the cockpit claiming he wasn’t sure if it scraped the ground. Everything turned out ok and the crowd was going wild with his performance.
Don't feel too bad Nate , everybody I see fly that plane hates the air brakes.. it gets squirrelly. I've seen most run it on a separate channel and only use them on the ground.
Thanks for understanding my friend! It seems that we have some pilots in our comments section that have apparently never crashed before! Never thought my videos would attract such Aces!! 👍😎💯⚓️
Glad you appreciate seeing the rough times too! Hurts my pride to post something like this, but if it helps someone else out then I’m happy to share it. Happy Flying!! 👍💯😎⚓️
If ya ain't crashin', ya ain't flyin' Glue. Metal bendin'. A little elbow grease- she'll be good as new, Nate. No worries, man. Still a beaut! Thanks for sharing the experience with us 👍 Merry Christmas Saylors!!
I’ve gotta agree. It’s very tough after that last bounce especially! Just had to snap a little plastic tab back in place and glue a couple things to snug it up again. Screwed the steering servo back and everything’s working again! I’m impressed for sure! 👍💯😎⚓️
Well that blows chunks… When no wind landings are rare, I tend to try to slow my planes down too much on final because of the visual I am used to when there’s a significant headwind. That’s when it can bite. I try to keep a bead on how responsive or mushy the sticks are getting… and of course - knowing a good minimum throttle position helps a lot. I’ve never flown an EDF; I have a question: Was a partially spent battery pack a factor? If that had been a fresh pack, would it have had enough thrust quickly enough to get above stall speed in time?
I definitely needed more thrust in hind sight, however I don’t believe it had anything to do with how much juice was left in the battery. It still had at least a solid minute in it if I needed to push it. Love your perspective on this matter! Calm days ending up biting us because we may be used to flying in wind! Never really thought of it that way! Boy, how an airspeed indicator could help us all!! 👍💯😎⚓️
Damn Nate , what a total bummer of a day. We have all been there. Heck I stuffed my Viper 70 In a tree top com8ng in for a landing not long ago. Down draft caught me and sucked me down like a vacuum cleaner. I should have never attempted to just clear the tree tops. We all learn no matter how long we’ve been doing this. In 64 and still make mistakes once in a while. Time to repair it and move on . Glad it was a total wreck. God bless better days are coming .
Generally it’s the size of the duct where the air is flowing and the motor/ fan size. In my somewhat limited experience, the larger they are the cooler they sound! 👍💯😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors that’s good, then- we have an entire video that’s nothing but landings like that! My piloting skills may not be consistent, but gravity ALWAYS works just fine!
Dolphin dance: caused by a late flare and likely a lack or airspeed. The approach was bad, would have been better to go around and flare earlier but nice plane though
Nate, I enjoy the channel and you and Abby... I sorry for all the "advice" folks are sharing in the comments.... As a fellow pilot, I FELT YOUR PAIN and I have been in much worse crashes. Yes, there is the personal frustration of the moment - but there is also an odd sense of loss that occurs. Your bird will fly again, but I know that "gut punch" of a total loss, and I really despise those that think it is funny.... or that they are above it. Today is the 120 year anniversary of the Wright Bro's first flight. May you have many more successful flights on this channel!
Don’t fly at a active airport, that’s not AMA for sure, also the FAA probably won’t see this as a good thing. Anyway stay safe and Maybe try a local field.
You must live near lots of people and are inexperienced maybe ignorant to rural life. Small airports such as this are perfectly fine to fly at especially if locals know you. Traffic volume is so low it’s perfectly safe. Besides most hobby flyers do have common sense to give right away to real aircraft when one is operating near by. I learned to fly rc at an airport like this. Rc flyers and full size pilots blended in perfectly.
100% incorrect! AMA does allow people to fly at full scale airports, given the appropriate steps are taken to do so And Permission is granted! Also, these full scale guys weren’t operating under normal circumstances and were flying well over the threshold required to radio in at our specific airport. This distracted bouncy landing was simply caused because of my focus on their conversation over the radio. That is all. Please, have a nice weekend! 👍💯😎❤️⚓️
The gear in this EDF is beautiful and realistic but as on the F-16, 80mm it is very weak and nightmare to fix :( Hope you’ll have yours in the air asap
Mi amigo hay que buscar en la caja negra que fallo en el vuelo , por lo menos el piloto sobrevivio el vuelo , se fue al hangar a mantenimiento , saludos y gracias por compartir
Hey buddy, btdt with my four year old Freewing Avanti S a few weeks ago. Just had a problem with a new radio set up and lost control and down she went. Trans warned me. I was used to flying it and just took off. First turn it just rolled over and went in.I saved it some just before it hit and it pancaked in. Gear was up so no damage there. I had to glue the front of the fuse back together and now she is in final finish stage. Just fix her up and fly it again. Looks nice.
Now I am no pilot and I don't fly rc planes but it seems like you could have done much worse in your crash. It looks to me like the plane is repairable so at least it didn't get totally destroyed. Things can always be worse is what I tell myself in similar situations.
There is no reason to be embarrassed. As you know, these things are fast and squirrely. That's just part of flying RC aircraft. Watch the most seasoned "Experts". Even they have bad landings. Too bad it didn't have enough power to pull out after the second bounce and come around for another attempt.
Those are cool I'm torn between paint jobs. It's not that bad price for the quality. They air breaks servos aren't that great seeing some people having to replace them. Still out of stock, I think. Hey, it happens to the best and that's fixable.
I do actually! Because without this foam airplane crash I wouldn’t be alive. And I’m so grateful for life today. Plus all that I learned from this experience, I am grateful! I’m also grateful for you and the time you’ve spent here with us today. Praise God! 🙏💯✝️❤️⚓️
Hopefully I'm seeing things.. kinda looked like the front landing arm got bent slightly, it might have been because of the attachment to that servo because of how I saw it, because after you adjusted it and tried the landing gear it retracted fine. (Just my observation)
These comments are crazy dude everyone crashes and it sucks I crashed my friend's turbo timber last summer and got really upset because it wasn't mine and I'm a full scale pilot. Nobody saying the negative stuff has flown an rc plane before

Awwww,,it will be ok Nate!! That was a BUCKING BRONCO landing and it was FUN to watch (sorry)!! But I KNOW we're going to see it again and I can't wait!! Isn't it Abby's now?! Thanks Saylors for the honest crash!! 💟👍😎
Sounds beautiful. Great flight and crash.. we all have that one bad day. Keep it up.. 😊
You had me wincing in pain. She is too beautiful to crash. Art project to bring it back. Nate...we want to see the repaired, color-restored, flying, finished plane🍺cheers.
:-) Don't be embarrassed, you are a very very good pilot. Thank you for sharing.
Nice one you didn’t have to put this vid up well done for doing so .looks like easy fix
Hey, i think you did great, plus it happens to all of us and you kept your composure. Nice job buddy, very nice job. You two are the best 😊
It is a nice plane for only $499, put a nice radio and you have a great looking/flying plane for under 1k! Merry Christmas Time
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, as the ol saying goes. Nice sunny 🌞 day for flying. Don't worry Nate, you will fly again. Abby your videoing was Spot on, you really never lost de plane. 😊. ⚓️⚓️👍💛🧡💚👍🌞😊👍⚓️⚓️.
Guess Abby gets to fly it now...
Hello, that crash reminded me of the F - 86 crash in the movie " The Hunters (1958)". Good job. Thank you.
The dreaded bounce... Oh how I hate them😢
Flying RC means flying with distractions.
Sorry about your jet Nate , had to retrieve my apprentice out of a tree the other day feel your pain bro Merry X-mas to you and yours !
Very amazing Sound. I lovit the rc hobby. Thank you for up-load🤩😘
Don't feel too bad Nate , everybody I see fly that plane hates the air brakes.. it gets squirrelly. I've seen most run it on a separate channel and only use them on the ground.
We all hate crashing but unfortunately we all can make mistakes.
Thanks for understanding my friend! It seems that we have some pilots in our comments section that have apparently never crashed before! Never thought my videos would attract such Aces!! 👍😎💯⚓️
Mill are getting ready for the big finale 😜
This is why I don’t fly models. One crash can ruin your day and maybe a week. I’d watch rather then fly them
Abby and Nate, y'all rock! Nate, it happens to the best of us. Peace
Sorry Nate. Don't beat yourself up over it. You can fix it.
Awwwwwww, dang. 🫨 Where was the Force? You had your Star Wars hoodie on!
You let us see wath happens and we like it its a cool plane nate thanks for showing us
Glad you appreciate seeing the rough times too! Hurts my pride to post something like this, but if it helps someone else out then I’m happy to share it. Happy Flying!! 👍💯😎⚓️
If ya ain't crashin', ya ain't flyin'
Glue. Metal bendin'. A little elbow grease- she'll be good as new, Nate.
No worries, man. Still a beaut!
Thanks for sharing the experience with us 👍
Merry Christmas Saylors!!
She is a tough bird, the arrows 64mm sabre would have broken the whole front off lol sabre air frames are tough though.
I’ve gotta agree. It’s very tough after that last bounce especially! Just had to snap a little plastic tab back in place and glue a couple things to snug it up again. Screwed the steering servo back and everything’s working again! I’m impressed for sure! 👍💯😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors glad you got her fixed up! Just like riding a bike
Awesome and looks great in the air Nate and Abby enjoying watching too 👍😎😃♥️
One good thing about that crash Nate is you didnt have to worry about breaking a propeller....hehe.
glad the jet was algood.
Would enjoy seeing a video of you repairing it and getting her back in the air
I've turned several aircraft into land darts!
She'll buff out bruh, don't sweat it.
December 15 is my b-day and I hope to get a carbon cub s2. I hope the maiden won’t turn out like this
That first bounce was enough to power up and go around. Could be worse though. She'll fly again.
Nate what gives it that authentic jet sound versus other ducted fans that sound like hair dryers or vacuums?
Generally it’s the size of the duct where the air is flowing and the motor/ fan size. In my somewhat limited experience, the larger they are the cooler they sound! 👍💯😎⚓️
Love you guys !!! THATS OK ! FIX AND FLY AGAIN , Next time No fuel tanks And Belly land Grass 😊
If you fly...you crash! Great jet. Love the sound.
Yep we all do.
Every time I cray some, and then fix it or fly something else, good to see ya flying.
Ouch!
Ya. I’ve had worse crashes, but this might have been my most embarrassing “landing” ever! 😬😅💯⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors that’s good, then- we have an entire video that’s nothing but landings like that! My piloting skills may not be consistent, but gravity ALWAYS works just fine!
Nice flying….. you may want to consider separating your flaps and air brakes. I use flaps to land and air brakes to slow down once on the ground.
You guys always show the good the bad and the ugly. Truthful unedited reviews. Thank you from Rhyl North Wales UK
Awesome video and such sound advise about insurance and great ownership on the crash
C'mon Nate you just gave it some love scratches and accidents happen
That is so awesome Nate
There ought to be a way to turn those "drop tanks" into extra battery capacity...
Big oof Nate.
I feel for you.
Don't let it get you down.
Only the pilots who still have their planes in the lounge have their planes intact. 😊
Dolphin dance: caused by a late flare and likely a lack or airspeed. The approach was bad, would have been better to go around and flare earlier but nice plane though
Awesome test!
The gear in this EDF is beautiful and realistic but as on the F-16, 80mm it is very weak and nightmare to fix :(
Hope you’ll have yours in the air asap
Yeah I hate that feeling cos none of us want this to happen to our planes but bit of hot water and touch up paint she’ll look better Nate
Looks nice.
Distractions to blame....yea, okay.....dropped her way too fast.......
I took full blame. But yeah the distractions didn’t help. Guessing you are an ace who’s never crashed? How do you do it?! 🤔⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors When you pay full price for these expensive planes like the rest of us do, we are in full concentration......
Reminds me of rc simulator on Xbox, I do this a lot landing lol I want a edf!
I hate that feeling.
Poing poing poing
You now whats more annoying?! Waiting for parts from Fms !!
All good any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.
Honestly it took it like a tank very little damage for the severity of the crash
You gonna "thank the lord" for that crash dude.
I do actually! Because without this foam airplane crash I wouldn’t be alive. And I’m so grateful for life today. Plus all that I learned from this experience, I am grateful! I’m also grateful for you and the time you’ve spent here with us today. Praise God! 🙏💯✝️❤️⚓️
Phrased that strangely; I couldn’t have experienced that crash without being alive first! 😅🙏⚓️
Worry free. its part of our hobby 😊.
