Remy was 3 times k1 champion and spong was not, so that speaks volumes by it self. Remy in his prime would of won in my opinion but of course spong is elite level too with a beautiful style to watch but is not a natural heavyweight.His best fighting weight was around 93 kg and his fights with Nathan Corbett at that weight were so high level, great fighter.

As for spong I spoke with him a lot around 2011 in Facebook when k1 went bankrupt and he told me he wasn't paid for two years from k1 and same for all the other fighters, very humble guy and a big talent that unfortunately had to switch to MMA and then boxing to make a living because kick boxing was in its last legs. Also asked him if he remembered a guy he fought because this guy was from our gym and he said yes and sent his greetings. The guys name is nikos sokolis and was the Greek champion at the time, they fought in Australia if I remember correctly, yeah great guy spong.

@@Hartls1990 Ive always seen Bonjasky as a long, kick-centric fighter who tied you up as soon as you got close and battered you with knees, and Spong as a pressure based, heavy handed boxer with effective, but not exceptional kicks. I picture prime Bonjasky battering Spong from the outside, frustrating him into rushing his attacks, then tying him up and bouncing knees off his body and head until Spong wilts. I'm willing to accept the possibility I'm just partial to the old k1 guys, but Bonjasky was a serious problem in k1 every fight.
