I got divorced in my young twenties, and my son and his mother and her new husband Coast guard man moved there and it brings back memories of going to see my son.He lived there in the coast guard station by the lighthouse I lost my son in twenty seventeen Thanks for the memories .

We lived in Florence for 12 years... Sold the house the end of last summer and moved back to Bullhead City... I have a room full of light house pictures from up and down the coast. Russ, thanks for letting me revisit ..... Oh, by the way... you should have stopped at the Sugar Shack in Reedsport... best pastries anywhere...

Wonderful lighthouse tour Russ. If you want a real appreciation of what fisherman go through to put food on our tables Deadliest Catch, while somewhat scripted gives a pretty good idea. And that's just crab. Thank you for another outstanding video.

I have been to the camp ground quite a few times, and have also seen the outside of the lighthouse but never took the tour. Now, I am sorry I didn't. Everything was so interesting! The tour guide lady sounds like she has a Wisconsin accent. I am really curious now! 😉❤ Another interesting part of Winchester Bay is the Dean Creek Elk viewing area.
The tour guide lady is my sister...born and raised in Chicago! ;-)

This was a really neat trip. I painted several lighthouses, 8x10s. Always been fascinated by them.
My uncle was in the Coast Guard during WWII and was stationed in the lighthouse at Eastham on Cape Cod . Thanks so much for this tour .

Thanks for the tour of the lighthouse! I love them, I have never seen one with red glass before. When I was growing up in the 50's my girlfriends family went to Winchester Bay to fish at least couple of times a year. I don't think I have ever been there. I am enjoying your 101 adventure

I have photographed that lighthouse many years ago. It’s really a nice to photograph because it isn’t terribly tall and easier to fit into the frame nicely.

We've visited several lighthouses along the California and Oregon coasts. Unfortunately the visitors center at the Umqua River Lighthouse hadn't been built when we were there many years ago. Thanks for showing it. It is outstanding and the best, by far, of any we've visited. I'm not sure how the red panels all away around at the top and bottom of the Fresnel lens figured into the flashing white light.

That umpqua lighthouse state campground is very-very beautiful. It's like a rain forest. The only thing, it's tiny and when they have their yearly race events on the beach,- you'll hear the occasional off-roader racing around below if you like only quiet. It's popular though - I got in once due to a cancellation. Good beer batter onion rings at king neptune drive-in at winchester bay if the same folks still own it. Sorry for rambling. 🙄 I obviously wish I was there, lol.

Nice video, Russ and the tour was amazing. And you're right. Salmon is amazing too. You can grill it, broil it or bake it. I remember a Mexican restaurant back in Phoenix that used to serve salmon tacos. They were so good.

I believe the video from last year you’re talking about is from his travels in 2019. Russ has been combining his travel videos into long videos and re-releasing them. I don’t understand why he isn’t being upfront about when the videos were taken when he re-releases them.
