- There’s no way to deny the impact that Discovery’s “Deadliest Catch” has had on the reality TV genre. Besides being on air for over a decade, starting a highly successful franchise and on top of all winning several awards, “Deadliest Catch” gained everyone’s hearts by letting its audience access meaningful insight into the life of the crews on board of the fishing vessels cruising the Bering Sea.

There have been many tragedies on this amazing show, but for me, the loss of the legendary Captain Phil Harris was the one that affected me the most ✊️😔🕊
Nick was a good dude sad to see one of us lost to drug addiction
It wrecks lives in all professions. Though rampit in jobs that have heavy body toll. Imagine the amount of lives it smacks taking in consideration the family members, companies/bosses, spouses, and randoms attached to the addicts life. It’s very sad. Me and the wife had to pass on some awesome properties in small flyover towns in our country because 1/2 the population are zombies 😕

Phil Harris’ death was one of the most emotional moments I’ve ever witnessed on tv
Pretty tough to pull that off without getting in the way or seeming like they’re trying to profit off a guys death
They managed it though...
If you read the book, Phil wanted them to keep filming, as he put it “the viewers need to know the end of the story.”

So here's the thing about drug use. The job is one of the hardest in the world, full stop, and these guys work for literal days on end. Sometimes the only way to get it done is to use some uppers to get that speed and ignore the pain and take downers when it's time to actually get some sleep. This isn't a new thing, it's just an unspoken one sadly. If it were legal and monitored it'd be a lot better off than people just messing with their health and bodies under the radar.
What does legal have to do with anything. If something is legal suddenly it changes things? Booze is legal. Pot still isn't federally. No legal is only because money is involved and the big businesses want it all. Legal my ass.
These guys didn't give a fuck about the legal status of the drugs.Legal or not the would stil be dead.

Lol yall are funny, should lookup some of the so called "legal" medications out there. The only difference is a doctor signing off on it and you can get pharmaceutical grade meth, speed, heroin, etc. The point is I believe drugs should be decriminalized but you should still have a doctor monitor your usage. Unfortunately it's cheaper to just buy shit off the street instead of spending thousands of dollars a year on doctors alone, not even including prescription costs.
It sounds like the majority of you are missing the whole regulated and monitored part, even though that doesn't mean it would stop abusers.

Phil Harris was deffo a fan fav, I was so gutted when he passed, I stopped watching as much when he died,
When Phil died it hurt me and I never met him I only knew him from tv I don't get it why people can't change habbits when your life is at stake like Sig he still smokes after that incident

The saddest part was how Discovery channel milked Phil's death into 5 or 6 episodes, no class at all...
I got 2 minutes in and had to stop, I can’t stand the narrator.
This show is fake. My friend said it's filmed on Lake Superior north of Duluth, MN.
I doubt there's that much icing on ships in Minnesota.

Yup , the entire show is fake except its not filmed on Lake Superior . Its all done with CGI , Mike Rowes bathtub , and yo momma . Edgar Hansen makes little model ships that look like the real fleet , Disney Pixar does all the characters , your mom gets in Mike Rowes tub , add water , ice cubes , and when they need a stormy scene she just farts in the tub . Voila , Deadliest Catch from Mike Rowes tub . I heard it saved them hundreds of thousands in production costs . I wish it was my idea but that George Lucas is way ahead of the game .
