- Let's cut open some amazing agates from Africa! These beautiful agate gems are from the southern part of the Sahara and were sent to me as a gift to cut open and see what wonders will be hiding inside! These agates were cut on my 10" lapidary saw with the thin sintered blade, see the Hi Tech Diamond link below for more info. Thank you all for watching this lapidary cutting video where we use our 10" lapidary slab saw to slice open these beautiful agate gems from Africa. I had a ton of fun seeing inside these amazing minerals. I really loved all the agate bands as well as the geode pocket full of crystals! It would be very fun to go rockhounding in the sahara desert where these were found, maybe someday. I will polishing these on our 8" cabking cabbing machine in the future, see you then!

Was really interested in your cutting that first ‘bumpy’ one- made me think that it was formed out of super hot lava-esque material millions of years ago. So cool!!!

Awesome agates! The first half of the one that you said looked like a buffalo also looks exactly like the shape of the continent of Africa. 🤯 around the 5:00 min mark

OMG I was soooo close guessing Syria!!!! These have to be some of my world favorite agates. Sahara agates and throughout that region is is GORGEOUS. THE YELLOW 💛💛 I have an agatized Sahara snail uncut with the ambition I might cut it one day. Thanks for wonderful close ups just amazing

I'm from the philippines and we have that kind of stones,we gathered some of it to be use as a decoration in our backyard or as stone ornament for cactus and bonsai

Very, very nice! Now that I’ve acquired my basic saw, I’ve been looking for rocks I can purchase and open them just to enjoy the reveal and the beauty inside them. I’ll never get to Africa to gather something like your agates show here, so why not just have some delivered? Finding my own are hard enough here in southeast Michigan! Great work and I’m continually amazed at these openings. I’m struck by how similar some agates are to pictures I’ve seen of distant galaxies or electron microscope frames of clumps of molecules. It’s all so familiar. Thanks, stay safe and enjoy!

The one you didn't cut is really unique. The African Agates are very heavy with Limonite. In the right spot I bet they are actually kinda hard to spot. Big nodules too.

Those turned out so cool. I've got a bag of Agates from Africa that a coworker of my wife gave to me before she moved. There are some cool agates that come from over there!

It broke my heart when The Agate Shop in Two Harbors closed because I could spend forever in there looking at their collection. I'm glad they reopened but now it's so limited.
I was wondering if you have ever checked out Iona's Beach in Two Harbors. We went there the last time we were up North and it is absolutely beautiful.
