the manga covers are sooo beautiful. it makes the manga looks like a historical book. (well it all make sense because it's a historical fiction thou)

I'm not a big manga guy, but I heard good things about this, so I'll give this series a try. this is not a big issue, but all of my books and the few manga I have are paperbacks, so this will 'sticks out' on the shelf
It's kinda shame that this didn't sell well in the US. Here in Thailand we only got a normal pocket book edition.
That is out dated News, Vinland Saga is Massive in the US and the UK/Europe now. took a few years to get going but now its full steam ahead. its one of 4 Manga master pieces ( Vagabond, Monster, Berserk and Vinland saga )

The backstory is not really that short, the back story ends when he changes, that is where the story begging when he is chopping woods at some farm looking sad as ever, also if you know your history you might already know where the story is headed, so dont spoil it to yourself, honestly I love vinland saga for the character interactions and growth more than anything

For anyone that doesn’t know the reason the books are so thick is because they have combined two volumes into one. So, for example volumes 1 & 2 of the Japanese release are actually contained in book one of the English release.

I don’t wanna hate this series and I really wanna get into it. I read the first chapter yesterday and it was quite cool but doesn’t really give me the “hype” to continue. Does it get better later on? I sure hope so
Well, I wasn't really interested about the first part/arc/season, I didn't really much understand where the story was heading
But now that I read everything I can tell you that this is one of the best manga I've ever come to read in my whole life! If you're seeking for character development, wisdom, very very beautiful drawings, good story and philosophy, then this is for you!
I know that the beginning has normal drawings, but it gets better and better, and the beginning was very necessary for what is coming after, you can trust me it really worth it! Everything that comes after the first season is just perfection
