I love how they keep referring to our boy band era as "old pop" because we had pop long before these groups showed up. 😂 The mid to late 90s and early 2000s were the boy band and girl group era of pop music for America, but pop has been around for decades prior to that. I guess my childhood is old and the stuff that came before can now be called "classic pop." I'm also surprised they didn't mention that the Wahlberg boys (Donnie and Mark) were in NKOTB. They just knew JT from *NSYNC. I guess he's the only one well known in South Korea? I have no clue, but I still found that interesting. As for the Backstreet Boys "claw" dance move, that was very similar to Michael Jackson's Thriller choreography and I'm pretty sure that was the inspiration (MJ is an excellent example of pop that predates all three of these groups) for that video, song, and choreography.
I got to go to 7 new Kids On The Block concerts for free back in the early 90's thanks to my sister and Danny. She was dating Danny who is one of the members of that group. I grew up in Boston during the 80's and 90's so they are my favorites
Can we get more of this type of content? Old Pop/Classic Rock/R&B... Richard Marx, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Journey, U2, Crowded House, Lenny Kravitz, Sade. More series like this.
I lived in California back with NSYC was really popular. They performed in an open air stage behind my house. I could NOT hear them singing over the screams of about 20,000 girls for 2 hours or more LOL It was about 1 mile from me and it was LOUD
Thank you so much for watching all of the boy groups but my favorite is new kids on the block always. Saw them in concert for the first time back in 2019. They r my number one group from back in the day. 😍
BSB and New Kids, are still together. They toured together a few years ago. 98% was another one! They tore up little girls hearts everywhere they went but they weren't together very long.
Love this! Life long Blockhead and now Army!!!! New Kids are still going strong after all these years!!!! The fans may have gotten older but we never forgot them!!!!!

New Kids on the block still do tours. I took my kids to see them in 2019. The mix tape tour was great. . Makes me go back in time haha. Now I'm taking them next February to see Monsta X. The tour was finally rescheduled. I'm dying to buy BTS tickets. But NKOTB are the ones who made me fall in love with pop music as a kid. Nostalgic.
Its so crazy how kpop idols today have never heard of Backstreet Boys or any of these iconic american groups. I’m sure in the 90’s & 2000’s things were different considering how 90’s kpop group H.O.T was based on the formula of the Backstreet Boys and the two groups actually went on a korean talk show together in 1996 when Backstreet Boys toured Korea. The video clip of the two groups on that show is still up on youtube if you type “Backstreet Boys hot”. Also, TVXQ (東方神起/동방신기) did a cover of that particular New Kids on the Block song; Step by Step. That clip is still on Dailymotion if you type “DBSK step by step -tohoshinki” (because they released a japanese song of the same name). I guess this era of kpop is very different from the 90’s & 2000’s Kpop ; kpop back then would be very in tune with American pop music.

The genre Motown and the artists Jackson 5, Temptations, Earth Wind and Fire are the groups that really started the boy band movement, in my opinion. Then yt people took it and made money off of it because blck people weren't allowed in mainstream media. So in come Backstreet boys and the like.
@A YO The Beatles were rock and roll first of all, so completely different genre of music. Second of all, boy band doesn't actually mean band, as in folks playing instruments. It refers to a "band" of boys doing something together, like the Sacred Band of Thebes. Band as in banded together. The Beatles were not a boy band, they were a rock and roll band. And they were so not the first, even then.

Agree! The groups shown were around when I was in my 30s - to me old pop is the Jackson 5, the Osmonds, Bay City Rollers etc. And it might be sacrilegious to some, but to me the original boy band was the Beatles
@@KeltiKyrie although I agree with your definition of band vs boy band, if what happened when the Beatles touched down on American soil for the first time or what happened on the Ed Sullivan Show doesn’t constitute a “boy band” I don’t know what does

It's funny that he mentions he wants an idol group that brings back the nostalgic feeling that older groups had because now we have New Jeans which is bringing back early 2000s pop vibes.
"old pop vibe" That's why Cupid by Fifty Fifty is successful because of the song is very catchy like the old pop... It's was very unique compared to other kpop songs...
I heard about a pop singer back in the days, a Korean raised in America, tried to bring this 90s pop vibe to Korea, but he was treated like a trash when he was young. Then, some guys noticed that new Korean pop idols look just like him from the past. And now, he has success in Korea with his old jam.
I love backstreet boys but you are wrong as hell. They do not touch boyz II men when it comes to live vocals. Even to this day they kept the amazing vocals and same can not be said for backstreet boys.
NKOTB (New Kids On The Block) reunited and still make albums and music together again after a very long hiatus focusing on their individual goals and paths). They also still perform these songs and dances, so yes, they do still remember them.
Justin Timberlake, JC Chazes (N’SYNC), Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Ryan Gosling (I know he’s not a pop star, but he’s a famous actor. So, I thought I would include him), were all on the Mickey Mouse Club. Justin was 12 years old, JC Chazes was 15 years old , Britney was 11 years old, Christina was 13 years old and Ryan Gosling was 12 years old.

Thank you for talking about them 😇
BSB Backstreetboys
Yes NKOTB remember they are still touring, was at their concert in 2019. Check out their newer stuff also
I love your reactions
It's funny that he mentions he wants an idol group that brings back the nostalgic feeling that older groups had because now we have New Jeans which is bringing back early 2000s pop vibes.
Check out the New Kids on the Block and New Edition on the 2021 American Music Awards.
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK is the best boyband all the time. NKOTB & TLC are prototype of kpop idol.
Backstreet boys are my favorite boy band is my sister and I favorite boy band 😊
Sou bem novinha e adoro escuta as músicas dos bsb e Nsync amo de mais .
90's boyband is the best...
"old pop vibe"
That's why Cupid by Fifty Fifty is successful because of the song is very catchy like the old pop... It's was very unique compared to other kpop songs...
prototype of dancing boy groups is r&b groups, theres a lot that even came before the jacksons as well
I heard about a pop singer back in the days, a Korean raised in America, tried to bring this 90s pop vibe to Korea, but he was treated like a trash when he was young. Then, some guys noticed that new Korean pop idols look just like him from the past. And now, he has success in Korea with his old jam.
love this band duing may highschool days
Please react to Boys to Men, they had the best vocals of any "boy band" from 1980 to 2000.
H.O.T and Shinwa were performing on the same shows across Asia as the Backstreet Boys
Yeah a lot of the early 90’s Kpop groups were inspired by New Kids on the Block,New Edition,Bel Bob Devoe, and others
The new kids on the block ❤️ beautiful 90's
I like every song you reaction 💚💚💚GN
im earlyy annyeonggg 💜🥺
There are plenty of korean idols that have done retro concepts. Everyone seemed to be doing retro comebacks during 2020
Jordan Knight from New Kids on The Block has one of the best falsettos.
These were my gate way drug to boy bands.
actually 'n sync stands for the last letter of each member's first name. (justin, chris, joey, lance and jc)
90s boyband is the best...
Especially Backstreet boys, the best selling boyband of all time.
Jordan umas das vozes mais lindas
you should definitely react to Beyoncé partition...
what the back in time i had with those MV
But they’re not idols it America they’re know as actual artist
Pues de hecho el kpop se baso en estos grupos de boy band de EUA, el mismo director o presidente de la SM lo dijo creo .
So good
