Love Henry, feel a large swell of patriotism anytime I handle my own. Always my go to for lever action purchases with their motto of "Made in USA or not at all".

Bought one last week. I had to put a cheap fixed 4 power scope on it..... old eyes. I love it. It shoots great. I have a couple 32 rnd mags and a bunch of other glock mags from my pistols and a lot of ammo. It's so fun to shoot. My wife loves to shoot it as well.
Thank you Allen for an excellent review. Much appreciated. Henry's decision to offer compatible magazine wells for Glock and Smith & Wesson magazines really broadens the appeal of this rifle. I'm also a big fan of aperture sights and was glad to see Henry use them on a carbine like this. Thanks again.
Great review, as usual. My Marlin Camp Carbine is still an excellent working rifle since the 1980's (Thanks in part to collecting parts when possible over the years). My concern, that I expressed to Henry's president, Anthony Imperato, was that the Homesteader is not NY legal due to the threaded muzzle. He promptly emailed back (Yes, he actually does this) that Henry has more developmental plans for the rifle in the future. I'm a bit of a classic looks guy, so that blued steel and walnut is calling out to me!
Hi Allen, im a lefty so i asume when i swap the chargering handle, the emptys will port from the left? Sorry for the Daft question 👍..........................................................
Great review. You just about covered everything! If I can get one for under $800 I'll go for it. I love my Ruger PC carbine, and my Henry lever gun. The quality is what makes it different.
When I was at Cabelas I was shown the Homesteader, Kel-Tec 2000, and The Ruger PCC. I bought the Ruger because the Homesteader was too expensive and the 2000 didn't seem sturdy enough. If you bend the hinges where the barrel folds so it doesn't line up anymore, you're screwed.
Absolutely love that Henry decided to produce this carbine. I do wish they would add a Non Threaded Model as an option, as Ruger Did with their PCC. Many of us live highly restrictive states. The dreaded threaded barrel is a no no. I have already written to Henry, BEGGING them to do so. Great review as always.
@@Pler1978 perhaps just the more traditional look with the wood furniture. Non take down vs takedown. Some may prefer one over the other. Just spitballing here.
I love my Ruger carbine but I'm definitely going to pick up that Henry. Love that stock and since I have more S&Ws than anything else I'd love to see them come out with the S&W mag well. Would really like to see a .40 S&W or .45 ACP but I can always settle for the plinker.
I like the versatility of being able to use other OEM magazines with just a change out of the mag well. It gives the shooter greater flexibility to use what they have readily available.
This has a 16.37" barrel. That is just over 41 and a half centimeters for metric people. I imagine you could drop deer at 200 feet with something like this. Looking forward to a Paul Harrell review. Made in the USA with quality throughout.
Nice no nonsense review. Might have to find one to purchase. Ive been thinking about a non AR platform with a detachable mag . My remington 88 is a but stock tube mag.
@OEO I plan on stopping in one day to see one. But if you compare it to the Ruger PCC directly, which do you prefer? Oh Lord, OEO might end up selling me another PCC. 🤐
Looks like a traditionally configured carbine as they intended but I still wish they'd put on an attachment for a flashlight or maybe in this case, a kerosene lantern.
The rmovable charge handle was the only questionable thing I noticed as well. I am a lefty . it is great to be able to swithch . but looks to easy to loose
I would have liked to get the Marlin but if you price them used they are up there with new carbines. The Henry is notably more than I payed for a famous brand AR rifle though. IF there is a police/security market for PCC, Glock should get onboard with a version. Because they could sell to civs also. I wonder if any of these carbines will stand up to the WInchester mil type 9MM ammo out now that is notably hot. Because I bet that the MV gain would be worth it in a longer barrel.
Where to begin with the issues I have with mine? Let's just say that if you are interested in this unit, wait for another year or so to see if it make it. I've had mag issues with Henry and Glock mag well, S&W mag well is not available yet, rear sight and threaded barrel cap seems to be installed with red lock tite, gone thru 2 Glock mag wells and parts missing from both of them.... And more, so, good luck.
As someone who also owns the Ruger (and I might add that Alan was my salesman that day), the Ruger is kinda fuddy, chunky, and gimmicky though. It could easily have been done without the takedown and also been put on a diet.
@@Salty_Balls The thing I always hated about my Ruger was it's front heaviness. But adding a Magpul stock was a big improvement. Also when ejection started getting sluggish after 500 rnds, installed Mcarbo tool steel extractor and bolthead pin kit. It's run like a top ever since.
Some of those were imported to the USA years ago, but as for spare parts, they are too scarce to have alot of them available. Either check ebay and parts sellers, or have one made.
