  • This is the city of caves! Nottingham old town is built on an area of high sandstone that is riddled with caves directly underneath it. And then there's Nottingham Castle, the Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, the Canal, Sherwood Forest and oodles of shopping. Oh yeah and Robin Hood too!

    Interesting to see you walk around my hometown. Shame you didn't pay a visit to the galleries of justice, though

    I knew Nottingham from reading “The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood”. An honourable mention of Robin Hood and his yeomen would have been nice.
    Excellent video though.

    How good is Nottingham for a visitor ?
    After many years without any holidays, my wife and I (both in our 60s) had a short break to London in Nov 2022. We travelled by train from Newcastle and loved it, so much so, we have had several breaks since, to Edinburgh (twice) Glasgow, London again, Leeds, Manchester, York and Liverpool and we still have London and Glasgow again this year.
    I am thinking of somewhere new to visit, for late in the year, or even early 2025, hence the question.
    My wife likes the shops, while we both also enjoy seeing new places of interest, such as museums, cathedrals etc.
    Birmingham, Chester, Cardiff, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Inverness are other possibilities.

      Nottingham is a terrific city and easy to walk around. And it's hilly too so there's lots of views. And Sherwood Forest is just a bus ride away.

    Lived in Nottingham for 7 years and had a great time in my 30s now live in Brisbane in my 40s and 50s. The caves in the various pubs around the city are fascinating

    Rob! I probabily should check my facts, but, I think that hard Brachen Fern in Sherwood Forest, is the same species that we have in Australia! I think that that is amazing!

    Deite some people's comments. Nottingham is a stunner and so much history. Same as any other city people who mock it haven't clearly done well. And that's not being posh or rude. People have a gripe

    "This was the French church"
    Ah, so that's why it's so shit. I always wondered.

    "The Ye"
    Stop it.

    • @PiousMoltar
      @PiousMoltar 9 месяцев назад

      "Ye" is just an old fashioned version of writing "the". And it's pronounced the same. It's not "ye". It's not even really a Y, it's meant to be the letter "thorn", which makes the "th" sound.
