In all my years playing Pokémon, I never saw the powercreep issue until I started playing Feh. The ridiculous powercreep there has opened my eyes to the powercreep in Pokémon and other games.
Raikou supports needed: - Dugtrio - Porygon 2 - Someone Upstairs I'm not enough of a gamer, I'll just stick to known quantities like Zapdos and volt tackle Pikachu.
3:56 This reminds me that my Porygon got double crit by Dugtrio when I tried to reverse trap them. I was a bit shocked at first. But right after that, my opponent told me "you should have used Ice Beam, it was the safest play". Most "bruh, are you serious ?" moment of that week
Jim it was an honor being featured at random twice in a row! To see your thought process is always such a delight, but to be your opponent haha, you don't know how much you were making ME sweat! Always WP.
I love the new format, a combination of old build a team and play videos as well as the more recent analysis videos you've been doing. This is Epic. Thanks for all the great content Jim. So happy to see you still releasing videos for Gen 3. I love it!
Isn't it kinda menacing to say "Like this video for your own safety" without providing any content into the Iron Mugulis situation? If a viewer doesn't already know the context, it sounds like Jimothy is threatening them lmaoooo
Enjoying this video format. I’m not versed enough in competitive to understand exactly what’s going on in a live commentary, so having a detailed explanation before seeing a specific example match is super helpful
I listen to you while doing homework, you’re voice is very calming and your content is always interesting, keep the good content going and have a good day 👍
Honestly if I don’t want zapdos or jolteon raikou’s not the third choice. It’s lanturn. It’s got some very lucrative unique traits like being able to resist Ice beam and surf alongside a electric immunity. Ice coverage is commonly paired with electric and water coverage which can let it stone wall some mons like wish sets of jirachi and starmie. It’s also not entirely inoffensive and can force our mons like suicune. If I’m wanting to build around a nonstandard electric lanturn’s just got more interesting unique traits. It’s also the single mon who looks at waterfall and doesn’t immediately dismiss it because of paraflinch potential. 0:02
I searched "BL challenges" to see what this mad person is cooking when he's not being attacked by Jimothy and... ...yeah on RUclips BL doesn't stand for Borderline, I think it means "Boy Love"
😂😂😂 I haven't uploaded battles but I save most of the replays on that account for showdown if you wanna check it out. I've brought that team Jim fought to 1700 rating, then tried it with Blaziken and fell pretty hard, we met on my climb down and my climb back up haha
Little Great Neck is kinda weird. It's this middle ground between Suicine and Jolteon. It's bulkier than Jolteon and faster than Cune but what that really means is that it's slower than Jolt and frailer than Cune. It just really wishes it further towards either side. If it was bulkier but slower and could consistently live Dug, it would be a monster. If it was faster frailer, fast than Dug, it would be a monster. But as it stands it's just a little too generalist to stand out.
I have a question, if I may. Could Raikou work in tandem with other electric types? I'm not familiar with gen 3 so idk if same-type-spam is a usable strategy at all, but considering how strong zap and jolt are, a part of me wonders if they could partner with it for the sake of their unique traits that Raikou doesn't offer, and create a very strong double electric offense core.
Not exactly because blissey (and any calm mind user really) will just sit on all of them unless you run a niche physical zapdos set. Additionally electric types are not the greatest spam type because of how many mons easily switch in to electric moves. They usually clean up games rather than break through walls by relying on their speed, zapdos being the exception to this rule, and therefore dedicating half of your team to this is not worth it. Then there’s other problems like swampert who will just sit on your team unless you run HP grass, but if you only run HP grass then other things start to wall you + the general lack of defensive utility the electric type brings.
@@youri7229 thank you for the in-depth answer! I hadn't considered the blissey walling nor the calm mind, tbh. In theory I was thinking that zap or jolt could handle duggy better and thereby help open the door for raikou late game but that didn't cover the big pink egg in the room.
@@youri7229People sleep on physical Zapdos lol that has become my signature Pokemon in my Gen 3 OU adventures. Nothing like catching a Blissey or Tyranitar completely off guard with a Banded HP Fighting! And that Drill Peck hits hard man.

after getting used to Gen 3 OU with sample teams the first team I built myself was a Dug P2 Raikou team- using this team is when ADV OU really “clicked” for me

You can only have one BP mon on your team that can pass a boost, that's the rule. As an example, you can't have Agility Pass Zap on the same team as CM Pass Celebi. You can have Pass on as many mons as you'd like so long as they don't have boosting moves.
Oh hey, I just played BLChallenges and they were using that same team on the ladder last night! You're a better gamer than me, Jim--they beat me twice, but I did 1 vs 1 their Typhlosion lead with my Breloom lead in game 2 by going for the most legendary focus punch reads of my life (predicting subs) until they were chipped enough to be finished with a mach punch. Sometimss you take the L but it feels like a W. (Typhlosion lead countered my whole team lmao.)

How does specifically Jirachi's substitute tank seismic toss. I thought the rule was supstitute takes quarter HP and Seismic deals quarter HP so it always breaks
Seismic Toss (and Nightshade) does damage equal to the user's level. Most people will set their pokemon to level 100 to maximize their stats, so Seismic Toss does 100 damage usually. Pokemon with 100 base HP (like Jirachi) will get to 404 total HP with max EVs. This means their substitute has 101 health, and thus will not be broken by seismic toss.
Idc about pronunciation but just so you know "Baton" is pronounced "Buh-tahn". The city of Baton Rouge is spelled the same but pronounced the way you do it.
