But this song is up there with the best of old fashioned soul songs ( back when soul was pure soul and not like today’s plastic soul), pure brilliance.

I've seen a video (reaction) where he's trying to sing this song, but the crowd is super rowdy if not drunk & he struggles to do it justice... but perseveres till the end & then just walks off. Think this is what he's referring to at the end of this performance. He's clearly poured his heart & soul, not only into his performance, but into the writing of this song & so it's everything to him to have the audience take it all in... hope he has many more sensitive listeners in the audiences to come.
Happened last night at The Showbox in Seattle. Drunks screaming, he walked off then came back-it was great but it felt as if he was still irritated. I love this guy!!! So happy I was able to see him at a small venue.
