This song, "Merry Go Round", and "Smother" were all released as singles before they were all re-recorded and included the on "Suck My Shirt" album. On the album versions there are no keyboards, because Candice Jones left the band between making the singles and the release of the album. This is the single version, and I agree that I like it better.
I like this version better than the one on "Suck My Shirt". Julia's voice isn't loud enough on the album's version.

They've never given a clear answer to why Candice left. What's out there suggests that Candice quit because she didn't want to tour any more, and that she left basically on good terms but that the others weren't thrilled that she waited until they were only a few weeks away from starting a new tour to support what would be the "Suck My Shirt" album. In a more recent interview, one of them said that Candice went back to school and got engaged.
Sadly, I think the Coathangers are done...no shows, Stef and Atlanta band, and Julia playing with her husband as the Soft Palms
