👀 As a fellow mood reader the amount of times I switch from book to book is kinda embarrassing lol The Darkling!?! GIRL, me too cause when I read it the first time I was like ohhh maybe I’m the one that needs to get checked. By the end though I was a book Mal stan. I’m excited to hear your thoughts about Tempest of Tea and The Framiliar! For Leigh Bardugo books, seeing how she has grown into her style of writing throughout her books is interesting, but I found it’s harder to go back into her older works 😅 Shadow and Bone trilogy is still something I would keep on my shelves and think of fondly (I devoured the books in 2 days!!!) but I don’t know if I would enjoy them as much now
i relate so hard to that haha like i've spoken to non-mood readers and they're almost horrified by my reading habits and im like noooo i'm normal i swear 😅🥴 IT'S SO BAD BUT.....i also think it's because i saw snippets of the shadow and bone tv show before ever reading it so now im just picturing ben barnes.....and im being so deadly serious when i tell you i would forsake the rest of the planet to be with that man HE IS MY VILLAIN ORIGIN STORY hahahah! Ooooh okay that gives me hope that i might grow to like book Mal! Right now though i hope he disappears ahah That's exactly my thoughts! I've done that before with my favourite slow-burn author Mariana Zapata, I read her most recent work at the time and was OBSESSED so i made it my mission to not read anything else and just go through her entire bookography, and i went from newest to oldest and i regretted it so much, like they were still good but no where NEAR as good as the new stuff! now whenever i start a new author i try to read their oldest stuff first so i can enjoy it without it feeling like they regressed in skill haha That's exactly why i want to finish shadow and bone before reading any more Leigh Bardugo because i just KNOW they will ruin shadow and bone for me haha (which i suppose is a testament to her evolving skill as an author!)
@@love.lauren... Netflix was DIABOLICAL when they casted Ben Barnes! How am I supposed to root for Mal when the Darkling is Ben Barnes???? 😅 My journey to being a Mal stan was a wild one. I went from the Darkling, to Nikolai, to finally Mal LOL. I skipped around with Leigh Bardugo’s works so now I’m procrastinating on Nikolai’s duology even though he is my favorite 💀 Ohh I’ll check them out!! I’m always looking for new authors to explore 🥰

I think at the time we're talking, I think the only series I've read is the The Cruel Prince & Divine Rivals. I am starting the Poppy War trilogy... but out of the 60+ books for this year... very little series 😂 LOL You calling out that "we have opposite seasons." I feel like I should read Beach Read since we're at our peak temperature right now... but I feel like it'd just make feel even more hot??? I don't need my characters to go through this suffering I am at the moment too 😭 I read to get out of this world, and into the next cooler world.
i honestly have been trying to compile one of those on list platforms like Anime Planet and AniList, but there are SO many it's so overwhelming haha I'll get there!!! No I so get that, series are quite hard to get into and I find myself mostly reaching for standalones, manga, or duologies at most, but I realised recently I MISS being so invested in a series because you fall in love with the characters and it makes it so intense, but I just haven't had the time (and im sure you can tell by the existence of this video that i find series EXTREMELY hard to actually finish!) OOOH R.F. Kuang!! I really want to read The Poppy War because I loved the writing in Yellowface! No because if I see one more comment on an Australian tiktok saying "why are you wearing a coat it's like 100 degrees....?" like GIRL TIMEZONES AND OPPOSITE SEASONS EXIST!!!! i got so frustrated hahaha That is actually a good point because I've been reading cozy winter reads and it makes me feel colder! maybe i should try reading a summer read to live vicariously through you guys hahah!

So I guess I'm also so scared to start a series purely because of that. I feel like with series, the first book is always the most 🔥 Unless it's The Cruel Prince 😂 Because I'm obsessed with the 2nd book. Not so much the 1st. I honestly gave up actively tracking ones that I haven't touched recently? And just add it to the on-going list when I catch up on it at the time.
