Oh yeah, without a doubt. I am legit glad that we're reaching the point in the 'nostalgia wave' that people are now actively clambering for late 90s/early 2000s style-video games, with all of the chunky polygonal graphics that entails. A lot of people tend to forget that you really don't need cutting-edge graphics to make a good, fun game. (Hell, most of the time cutting-edge graphics comes at the cost of dumbing the gameplay down.) Plus, I just freaking adore games like Gloomwood, Half-Life, and thief that use the chunky graphics to create an incredibly interesting and engrossing world that you just get sucked right into. Plus, as both New Blood and Rareware's various games have shown off, there's just something about big, shiny, chunky, floating, and polygonal collectables that makes them infinitely satisfying to pick up.
@@NostalgicBlondeDude i think is not nostalgia, this game is really atmospheric has excellent sound and very good gameplay and is not hand holding like most new games. The most important thing is gameplay, i played lots of games with fantastic graphics but ultra dumbed down and i get bored with a lot of new games.
@@alephnole7009 At the moment, seems like all the blood gemstones are only good to sell, but honestly, once the full release comes out, I'm likely gonna be holding onto a few blood gems and ESPECIALLY that Old Kingdom horn. I get the sense that bad boy could have a greater purpose down the line with it's item description in mind.
the shape of the dent next to the gate reminds me of the seals on the emerald eye backroom floor. Interesting also how this is called both an enterance and a ziggurat, which is a temple
Oof. I've been there before ._. Happens to the best of uh, man. Well, for whatever it's worth, there's nothing currently substantial in there to be found, and from what the other comments on here told me, a few revolver blasts/single hit from a shotgun should also be able to break the wall down.
2 things, I love that the name of the note is "Old Kingdom Site A", just begging for there to be at least 1 more site out there somewhere. And secondly if you look very closely in the last shot of this video you can see the white glint of diamonds on top of the scaffold to the left of the door, I stacked two barrels to get there, but there's likely another way to get them without physics manipulation.
Ohhhhhh yeah, the fact that it was listed as 'Site A' immediately caught my eye. I'm very much looking forward to seeing whatever the other sites hold, as well as whatever is behind that door. And yep, I am aware of the fact that there's some gems up there. I'll see if I can't try that barrel try you describe later to get it.
another thing, if you take the horn of ulmar to it it will sing, it still doesnt do anything to the gate so i think we need to slot in the disk which isnt in the game yet(to the right side of it there is a slot for it)
Totally. Like what they said in the update notes, I feel like they've done a fantastic job gradually opening up more of the Gloomwood world in an organic manner.
the pattern found next to the door with a face is the same pattern as the emblems on the floor behind the doctor's store, I thought that was interesting.
I'm curious to see if maybe there's an underground city behind that door or something, that hexagon slot looks like a key spot from the old alpha build
clearly from the look of it with the notes mentions and the fact that the seal needed to open the door look very much like the seals we will have to find in the city i can only guess whatever is beyond that door will be a late/final area of the game for sure
Oh, mean you think that if this area opens up, you think it'll be infested with Crowmen? Certainly a very real possibility, though I'm leaning more towards a secret 'boss' in the same vein as the Slaughtered Goat monster if we can end up opening that door. A gigantic, horrific beast that we'll have multiple options in regards to dealing with.
@@T1tties I thought I showcased that pretty clearly in the vid, but you basically have to go to the storage room to get the gunpowder flasks. The key to the storage room is at the bottom of that pit before you use the valve to open up that gate.
@@T1tties Hmm... hard to say. When I was playing through the mines on Blood Moon yesterday, I was stumped on where the key was for a while, but it ended up being where I described it was. Nah, and I frankly doubt there's even a way in at the moment. Given that Gloomwood's in early access and still being actively developed/worked on, I doubt there's much else you can do in that Old Kingdom excavation site aside from picking up some supplies and blood gems. found this during my playthrough too, pretty cool, shame we have to wait a while before seeing whats on the other side. Im glad we get to play gloomwood early but tbh early access doesnt exactly feel suited for it, its not the type of game to pop in for bits of content then back out and wait for the next one. the game style is different while stuff like that works fine with games like ultrakill. i think a massive but slower update would be better
Eh, I'm inclined to disagree in Gloomwood's case. I certainly hear what you're saying about how massive but slower updates, but like what the devs said in the update note, they've made a point to try and make it feel like the world of Gloomwood's naturally and organically growing as it goes through Early Access and I'm frankly inclined to agree with them in that regard. Plus, coming back to this game months later and finding a cool new secret like this in the new update gives me vibes similar to the first time I saw the Ice Key in Banjo-Kazooie.

Oh look it's the hexagonal indents from the old demo. Guess those keys will be returning!
Now with the added bonus of being able to see our good Doctor's arms, gloves, and dapper-ass suit.
The question is, do we actually need the gems to progress this area in future updates?
Is it worth selling them?
