before i start, you have done this trick before, maybe you forgot it but if you use the undertaker's slug bullets on a lever near the church in the coast it can skip the tavern and get you to the market.
I'm glad you pointed that out, but sadly I did not forget it. The main issue is that the wheel that gets you into the sewer below the gate is IN the tavern attic. That lever still exists and a slug still lets you hit it, but the path into the tavern from below is locked with the key you get from the goat (or in the attic) so the only way that I can reasonably see to get into the market without the tavern (since you need that wheel thingy) is to use the cannon. Using the cannon can be done, but requires a crazy route through a horde of enemies that I haven't tested enough yet, and am unsure if its consistent enough to use. Going to the tavern and killing the goat, however, is consistent. I'll probably upload a faster time soon, though, since there was SO MUCH I could have improved in this run. (Mostly in the intro, dog skip, and a few other places). During that routing, I will look into the cannon route since it could skip the entire tavern (and also, you can use a slug bolt to shoot the lever on the bridge without needing to go to the church which would save a LOT of time!)
@@njihjkzero i completely understand your points. i do have another trick to get to the lighthouse quicker. if you crouch over a bottle and jump and certain walls you can essentially prop jump so i would keep the bottle that was inside the luggage case
@@green-needle Thanks to your earlier suggestion, I was able to route out a cannon route (you can check out the video now, if you want, I just uploaded it) which is actually WAY faster. Did the whole thing in less than 15 minutes :)
a good speedrun, I find it quite interesting, recently I also made my speedrun where the time was 17:42, I think I should take some tricks from your speedrun
Sadly this is a bit old, I haven't gotten around to doing the current patch speedrun. I did hear that some things got added and moved around so there is most likely a way better route nowadays. I'd recommend trying to make your own route, since it can be very fun to experiment!
@@njihjkzero yes, I noticed that the speedrun is a bit old, but not globally. speaking for optimizing the speedrun, I think you could skip the tavern, since there is nothing particularly useful there (although given the fact that in the latest version the player needs to climb over the fence on the central plaza to finish the game, and there are a lot of hunters in this part of the location, it may make sense to take a shotgun in the tavern, but I was able to pass the second difficulty without it, I think nothing much should change on the blood moon). it would be interesting to see your speedrun of the latest version of the game

@user-ns9cm1th4w once I have a chance I'll upload a current run, and see about skipping the tavern since it's a pretty big time sink
