I've been driving a front loading truck similar to this for the last 18 years in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. Interesting to see the little differences in the trucks. As an example we don't have any cans with fork pockets underneath - for my company and all of our competitors - all the pockets are on the side. LOL at 8:50 - I hate it when that happens.
Always curious if there is an advantage to having the fork pockets under the dumpster vs the sides? Is this a west coast trend? Noticed it for awhile so i figured you could provide some knowledge. Great video too!
thanks! I know the drivers will occasionally request plastic bins at some stops where they need a lighter, more maneuverable bin but otherwise not that I know of
Nice truck, always appreciate seeing a custom truck running the streets of LA. I also dig the sound of the hydraulic radiator fans when they kick in. Has any other hauler expressed interest in purchasing a batch of these?
Fun vid! Haven't seen much video of these in the past few months so really enjoyed this. Definitely different watching this compared to the truck and route I'd see him on out in Pasadena. Actually had no idea he ever ran route in a RecycLA zone prior to Pasadena, nor did I know he had ever driven one of the 520s haha. Anyway, truck looks incredible, perfectly chromed out with the half caps on the front and back hubs. First stop looked like a real pain to do having to back out into the main road again. I LOVE watching those plastic bins get dumped cause the drivers never seem to slow the arms down unlike with metal bins. His operating style was fun to watch. Little more bouncy and rough than I remember seeing so that was entertaining. Happen to remember how long he'd been at UWS at this point? Also, definitely curious how hard it was for you to film the vid lol never enjoyed the driving aspect of filming LACOM with how hard it was to find parking most of the time! Great video!!
this was actually filmed at the end of June, just some random route they needed him on on a Saturday. Funny you mention the difficulty aspect, I only managed to film maybe 1 stop of the first 10 or so I saw him do. The route finally opened though and it got easier but this was definitely a tough one to film. Thanks!

it reduces the overall length of the bin allowing them to fit in tighter spaces. Thanks!
Nice video. This front loader is amazing
Great video! That stop at 5:10 doesn't look like the funnest. Is there a reason they use plastic bins at some places?
