As a teenager I made bunch of shorts for myself mostly eyeballing the pattern from my clothes. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I'm well past that guessing stage now. This was a great project to start sewing wearable clothes, easy pattern, clear instructions. Nice and quick to get me excited about my future Wardrobe by me projects. Thank you!
Thank you so much - comes exactly at the right time! My granddaughter (8 years old) is comming next week for holyday and wants to learn to sew. This is the right project!
Wow! This is awesome. Got a tropical shirt pattern for my husband and because of the tutorial I actually made it and he loves it. Going to make these for me.
I never heard of a bodkin! We always use a large safety pin. Of course I had neither on hand so I stabbed the elastic with a jumbo paper clip, twisted the wire to secure it and made it work. The fit of your pattern is amazing!
Thank you for this pattern and tutorial. I appreciate all of your patterns and clear instructions! Do you have advice on lengthening the rise in these shorts? I'm not sure how to do it when front and back are one piece.
You draw a line perpendicular to the grainline, then cut along the line from the front, all the way to the back rise, but not through it. Then you spread the pattern piece at the front-rise the needed amount.
Hi, can you give me the leg length measurements, my son is 6” but only 27” waist and would like to use your pattern and tutorial to make some fun pull on Xmas shorts. Thank you
Thank you for the pattern and video. It helps a lot to see someone doing it step by step. However (and it's a very tiny however), I don't care for the faux fly. how can I modify the pattern to get rid of it? and what was the pattern piece labeled 5 for? I hope you can help me with these two questions.
There are only 3 pattern pieces, so if you refer to pattern piece #3 it's for the elastic. As for making the shorts without the faux fly, use the notch on the center front waistline as a guide, and cit the front there +1 cm seam allowance, fading to the front crotch curve.
@@Wardrobebyme Also, I forgot to mention that my hip size is 39 inches and the size Large was perfect. I will make my next pair out of cotton jersey, but I don't think I will size down, I like my lounge shorts to be roomy. thank you so much, great pattern! 😍
@@Wardrobebyme At 5:01 on the video, your pattern is pieced together as follows: page 1to 4 then 6 to 9 where is number 5 or 10? My pages printed out 1 through 14, which 11 to 14 is the waistband and the elastic. Just wondering about piece 5 and/or 10. Thank you for your reply, Neicy McGrath
@@neicymcgrath1115 we used one of the smaller sizes for the video and page 5 and 10 are not need for that size. You can check the instructions page overview when you tape the pages together for your size.

Thanks for this. Just made myself free pj shorts. Fabric was remnant of some old curtains I made years ago 😀

Thanks for the kind words ♥️
I love how you attached the waistband and elastic. Much easier than another pattern I used. I will be using this method from now on.
Right? I like how that turns out as well!

Very resourceful solution :-) I'm happy to hear that you like them. So do we
just made the shorts, took me an hour or so, as I watched every step and then sewed, so pleased with the outcome, and will be the 1st of many pairs.
Thank you so much! I'm excited that you like them!
Thank you for the free pattern, very generous x

Could you tell me if these are high wasted shorts? I can't find that information on your site.
They sit at the bellly-button

Just go get the pattern. It's free!
Hi, I have the pattern, however his size looks too short in the legs, I would like to add length, I am a beginner sewer.
@@margaretperry2392 You can hold the pattern up in front of him and add the lenght you need at the hem.
It is a present, all good, I just printed the larger size and added that length, turned out great. Thank you for your pattern and tutorial.

The pattern has little extra bits on the hemline. I wanted to see how you sewed them.
Do you mean the curve?
@@Wardrobebyme the curved triangles at the end of the shorts pattern please
Is there written directions somewhere? I have the pattern but it directs me here. I cannot follow youtube videos. Unfortunately it is not how I learn.
Send me an email. I will send it to you!

How wide is the elastic? Tried to find on pattern but couldn’t see it..😊
It's in the measurement chart
@@Wardrobebyme I found the measurement for the length, ie waist measurement, but I was asking width, ie 1.25” or 2” width or doesn’t matter … 😊
@@markwilliams1824 Page 4 of the instructions says Elastic width 1.5”-1.75" / Elastic width 3-4cm

It does. Try from a computer rather than from a mobile device.
Why does your pattern on the video not show #5 or #10?

You have a serger, why are you using your sewing machine so much?
Because that's how I prefer to sew wovens. We use the serger for jersey fabric.
