Bill Frisell is a Zen master. The sound of one hand picking. His silence, his calmness and seemingly egoless. Great interview.

I appreciate Bill's guitar playing very much. Whenever I heard him play on older records with Jan Gabarek or Arild Andresen years ago, or with Marc Johnson's Bass Desire or on all of his own records like "Music Is" or "Valentine" it warms my heart and inspires me as drummer who plays some guitar too. Thank you very much, Bill, for your lovely music played with so much feel and a very unique sense for time, space, melody, voicings and phrasing.

Bill Frisell is one of my heroes. He really is. The first time i watch his band performing "Little Brother Bobby", really impressed me. Then i started to listen to more of his works, and i knew he speaks my language. It's so personal, and hard to describe, but i immediately understood it.

Thanks for this. Bill's created some of the very best music I've ever heard. Heard him on record for the first time on Hal Wilner's Fellini/Amarcord project and saw him live for the first time in 1985 with Hank Roberts, Kermit Driscoll, and Joey Baron and have seen him dozens of times since with a variety of groups. The Paul Motian Trio, Andrew Cyrille band and Charles Lloyd and the Marvels collaborations stand out. And of course Bill in his own trios (with the likes of Thomas Morgan, Kenny Wollesen, Tony Scherr, etc.) are always a true pleasure. I was fortunat to live in Seattle while Bill was in town (early 1990's until 2014) and saw him frequently. The music is as good as it gets. And Bill is one of the really nice people on the planet. We're lucky to have him.

How does one really describe Bill's style and sound? It's so diverse. I first heard him with Marc Johnson and thought "he's a very modern jazz player." Then I heard the original Rambler, then his Where in the World and the only descriptor I could use is "Bill."
