This video was originally filmed for the Element Optics channel, but I thought I’d share it here too since it is good information to know (whether you like Element or not)😄. I won’t publish all the Element videos here, so if you want to see more like this please subscribe to the Element channel here: ruclips.net/channel/UCrjXLZpYd-tJimQTQQKrVPQ
Would a rifle chanted/canted(sp) say 0.05% , then adjust reticle to level as it would be when I shoulder it,still be accurate/projectile shoot true ?? Thanx v
Needed this video 30+ years ago. It’s funny how none of us, shooters in general, have ever met or talked but we all have figured out or learned a lot of the same tricks. Never thought of pulling my bolt and seeing if my crosshairs centered to it. Learn something new every day 😁. Great video. 👍
Got 3 for a matched set of .22s. Not disappointed. Had to get my own high mounts, but over 3 scopes these lay down consistent 1" spreads after a hundred rounds
Such a simple video but these are the videos I like watching little tips and tricks somethings you might know somethings you don’t it Helps out the average shooter like myself😃 Great work 😃😃
Excellent instructional video Matt. I would highly recommend you look into acquiring a Wheeler Scope RIng Alignment and Lapping tool set... you will be amazed with the results! Enjoyed meeting you at Utah Air Guns this past January. If you come to the states March-June I can take you to the alfalfa fields for some "sage rat" shooting (Belding's ground squirrel). Very easy to burn through 500 rounds a day doing pest "control" !
Great instruction and revision for scopes. I would be cautious of using locktite on any set of mounts as the nature of it as it dries can actually increase the torque on the screws unevenly depending on how much was used and thus either give you a cant or worst damage the tube. From personal experience of wrecking an ffp Optisan
Happy Halfwit please explaining how the drying of Loctite can increase the torque on bolts and screws and how Loctite can cause cant . !!!!! You screwed up your scope because you over tighten your scope rings,....... nothing to do with the Locktite.
Dear Mat I once had a question, is there sometimes already known when the Element Helix is expected in Belgium. I am already waiting to order it at Krale sport shooting. Are there also t-shirts and or other items for sale from element. and I would also like to hear where I can order the patch from Airhunters because it is not sent to Belgium. nor does she find it at Airgun 101. Best regards Werner
Hey Matt, maybe a good topic for a standalone video, but what air rifle caliber has the best BC with a consideration for slugs and pellets, also in relation to the flattest trajectory caliber? Would that be the same or different caliber? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Matt, you raised an interesting conundrum I never thought about before with scope mounts: The scopes might be off-set. What would be the best way to find out if your scope mount is slightly off-center itself so that you could purchase a new one if necessary?
The Element Helix only has 18.9 mils of elevation. Using a 20 or 30 MOA rail you may not have the adjustment needed to zero the scope. The top 10 and bottom 10 moa of adjustment shouldn't be used. I made this mistake thinking I could use this scope on my .22 lr precision.
8:25 в теории правильно делаешь. Но! Перед этим нужно винтовку выстовить вертикально и горизонтально. Только после этого выставляется прицел по уровню.
Matt, thanks for the very well done video. If I am planning to zero a Helix scope at 25 yrds and use turret tape to dial for distance, at what distance should the optical center of the scope be?
hello I hope you are in good health with your loved ones in this quarantine of covid 19 my questions are 2 how to mark a telescopic sight and the FX hybrid slug are used for a PCP P15 artemis thanks
So your saying , like most scopes, these scopes do not come with mounts and rings? What are you thoughts on Quick release mounts? Yes, they are not really quick release mounts because after I tighten them down properly with an Allen wrench to where they can not come lose, they are no “Really” longer “Quick Release”. Unless your as strong as the Incredible Hulk! Because I can’t release the cam on the QD system in reality. I have to use the Allen wrench to loosen them up to where the cam system works again.
@@AirArmsHuntingSA It's rather complex: you take two zipties, and afix the scope to the reciever with those (for extra durability, you can run one if the zipties trough your triggerguard, in order to protect it), and then you zero the gun, and pray to dear God your zero doesn't change after you so much as breath in the general direction of the optic, or that the recoil doesn't knock it straight off. Pretty cool if you ask me:)
you mentioned 2 different ways to level your scope so my question is, is it more important to have your scope and rifle leveled like shown using the 2 bubble levels or is it good enough if just your scope is leveled as mentioned using a plumb line?
Hi Matt, I use a element optics Titan, a real nice scope! I noticed however that when I level my turret top with a spirit level like you explain in this video, my reticle is far from lined up as it should be. I leveled it with a rope and a weight in it now and of course that always worked. But I assume it is not Meant to be at least 10 to 15 degrees of in comparison with the top of the top turret. What would I need to do. Would you advice to have my scope checked at a dealer?
HEY MATT, IVE BEEN LEVELING MY SCOPES ACCORDING TO MY SHOULDERING OF MY GUNS (per SHOULDERING,everyone's hold is different, I've adjusted reticle level per my hold ! Always a small cantering (sp). Can you state if projectile will still travel level on target ?? Thanx .
Started great -- because I don't know how to do this (iron sights background) and I wanted to start from the very beginning... but then he immediately started talking about tilted rails and specific scopes... and things I didn't about or why. :-(

Good to check that inside of scope rings are smooth and line up correctly with each other. Lapping can help both situations if needed.
Yes. Definiatley use a lapping kit to get the the most out of a quality setup like this

awesome video matt. a great help to people that want to do it the right way.
Thank you. I learned to be much more careful. I love getting the best possible accuracy and I just learned a crucial element for myself in this video.

Thanks for the knowledge on how to correctly mount my scope to my Rifle , Matt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
awesome info, never thought about the bubble level method . gonna put that to use now !
Love this channel cheers Matt, I bought an FX Impact II and made my own adjustable butt pad after seeing yours.
Cheers Matt
Nice clear info, lots now checking their rifles and scopes😏😏

Thanks Matt for your great information
Very informative video , keep up the great content. Cheers 🍻 from Australia
Awesome video, thank you!
You forgot to set the diopter before setting eye relief. That's a critical step.

Awesome video matt after seeing this now I know I have been putting on my scopes wrong for years. Btw what kind of bipod is that? Thx
Looks like an Atlas.
Makes me want to re check mine, informative as always cheers
Very good teaching. Liked very much.
Informative video.
Sir how many click should i give If my MIL dot 1/2 MOA hits 6 inches down the bull eye at 20yards?
60. Assuming 1/2 MOA per click. If four clicks per MOA, then 120 clicks.
Thank you. Rick
Great video Mat, that's the way it works - just perfect explained!
Are you prefer steel or alu picatinny bases?
Excellent video, Thanks

Definitely not. It would not be smart to sell a scope with rings because different rifles require different mounts.
Wait, Matt so you're telling me that my precision ziptie method is no good?
dávid Honfi Tell me more about this method, it sounds interesting🤔😁
@@AirArmsHuntingSA It's rather complex: you take two zipties, and afix the scope to the reciever with those (for extra durability, you can run one if the zipties trough your triggerguard, in order to protect it), and then you zero the gun, and pray to dear God your zero doesn't change after you so much as breath in the general direction of the optic, or that the recoil doesn't knock it straight off. Where can I find the hunt for that Lion in the background?
matt where do a get permission to shoot at a silo
Thanks sir for help
Matt just bought a Helix to be shipped to Bolivia and I would like to know what’s your recommendation for the rings. I have an FX crown .22
awesome!
Your trophy room?
Cheers Mate!
Do you think lapping the scope rings is sensible, or is the the advantage negligible?
If there high quality rings then no but if your using rings that aren't perfectly machined then yes it is important.
If you are not going to shoot further then 100 yards using a Titan scope do you need a 20MOA mount or can you use 0 moa mount?
Nice
Can you do a video on how to zero a rifle

Do you have idea of how I can get a good second hand a Irgun here in South Africa?
Hello my friend Where can I get the binocular camera apparatus?

Started great -- because I don't know how to do this (iron sights background) and I wanted to start from the very beginning... but then he immediately started talking about tilted rails and specific scopes... and things I didn't about or why. :-(
