    #1 - Snorkel is for dust when you are following another vehicle, especially on old dry dirt roads. *disagree*
    #2 - The Penis Lights are the bomb!
    #3 - Ladder is lame. Keeps one from opening the back window, in addition to not adding anything. *agree*
    #4 - Raptor Lights. *agree*
    #5 - Molle panels. I could see one on the inside of the tailgate. I am not super impressed with the OEM mesh devices, and hanging some items in molle-compatible storage here isn't bad. But overdoing it and putting them all over the back is too much. *agree (mostly)*
    Adding one you forgot:
    #6 - Silly pirate flags. Why anyone would put this on an FJ is beyond me...🤣

    Disagree about the snorkel. I've had to drive several hundred metres up a river where the water was deep enough to flow over the hood.
    Your fusebox is only going to get wet if you stop (Hint: Don't stop. It's a bad idea).

    🤬 *Here is where I call 🐂💩 on the Snorkel.*
    The Manual says not to breach the fjord level of 700mm/27.56inches. Adjusted for tires and lift that put me at 31.56 inches. Above the fjording level its more than the air intake, its electronics everywhere! Seen this? ruclips.net/video/xlYSfKycYpI/видео.html
    The argument of it being for Dust when following another vehicle is 🐂💩 too! Most snorkels have the intake pointed forward to gather air from the front. When the vehicle in front kicks up dust, this is where dust goes!
    I Believe, the stock intake in the fender, pointed rearwards, is better protected from that vehicle in front of me dust. ruclips.net/video/xlYSfKycYpI/видео.html
    *So That means a Snorkel is for Vain Cosplay Fauxverlanders!* Just my 2¢, Leave your 2¢ Comment below! and thanks for Watching!

      I agree with your points on water crossing. We can also agree on non-fuctional snorkels that are not connected to the air intake - pure poser accessory.
      As far as dust intake, you are speculating. Actually I am too, as I don't know anyone who owns an FJ Cruiser with a snorkel.
      My speculation is based on a FJ100 one of my mountaineering buddies owns. He noticed a significant improvement with dust in the air filter after installing his front-facing snorkel. The top portion of his snorkel could swivel so it could face backward or forward. The idea is to follow far enough back that you can still see out the windshield pretty well, but close enough you can see the vehicle in front turning off a side road, etc. The heavy dust level is below the glass while doing this. Following close enough that the heavy dust plume is at or above eye level is not favorable for a variety of reasons: can't see the front vehicle if it brakes hard, can't see the road, can't see rocks, ruts, etc., and stones being kicked up (special fun in an FJ C.)
      Following far enough back that the heavy dust level is sparing the air filter increases the distance significantly, and makes it more easy to miss what is going on with the vehicle in front. There seems to be a sweet spot as far as following distance, and the snorkel on my buddy's FJ100 seemed to help. He is not a poser, as besides his mountaineering, he would regularly attend Land Cruiser off highway events. He is also not into non-functional accessories.
      My point is that the snorkel = poser isn't as straightforward as all that. What is needed is (an honest) opinion of someone who has one on their FJ C and drives it as per above.

      If I still lived in Houston, I'd have a snorkel. Going thru 3' of water after a rain storm is just the daily commute home.
      Our Car Club was having a beginning of the season road trip, I was in my 911 following tight behind a Panamera and we went thru gravel not yet cleaned from the winter and my front end, hood, windshield get peppered with rocks and every thing chipped.
      I'll never follow close again.

      @@UncleFjester That sucks in the 911! My FJ gets scratched up, but that is what I bought it for.

    • @HomerCrimson

      Drive on Utah dirt roads for a year with a snorkel and you'll get it when you see how much cleaner your air filter is. I'd never get one for water because I'd never drive in something deep enough to actually need it, but it's undoubtedly better for the motor to pull air from outside the engine compartment. If I had an FJ, I'd get the snorkel that comes up through that little panel below the windshield instead of the fender. Agree on the rest.

  • @scootypuffjr.
    @scootypuffjr. 25 дней назад

    I installed a snorkel because i have NEVER had a vehicle dirty up an air filter quicker than my FJ did stock. It pulls dusty air out of the fender. Problem solved. I hope to never need its deep water capability.

    • @UncleFjester
      @UncleFjester  25 дней назад

      Junior! I'm curious, where would you say you pick up the most dirt? Are you in Moab, Beaches of Costa Rica, SoCal, BigBend?

    • @scootypuffjr.
      @scootypuffjr. 25 дней назад

      @UncleFjester my trip to the Black Hills and then to Moab last year really did a number on my air filter. Many miles gravel, dirt, sand roads. The same trip in my 2500HD would make no noticeable difference in air filter dirt. I can go 60k miles on a filter in my Chevy. Pre-snorkel my FJ would have the filter shot in less than 10k. I live in Iowa where there are thousands of miles of limestone rock roads. Very fine dust.
      Edit: much of this is high speed kicking up lots of dust

    I could not agree more about the snorkle, penis lights, ladder, and raptor lights. Partially agree with the molle stuff, bottom line for as awesome as the FJ is, there is no real good storage solution. Some molle is OK, but it can get out of control very quickly and become cheesy.

    • @bms9144
      @bms9144 Год назад +1

      One molle accessory I saw was a basket that fit the area above the left rear wheelwell (opposite the subwofer). I can't remember who made it, but wasn't the cheapo ones on eBay that only partially fill up the area. I am definitely not a fan of over-molle-ing, which seems to be contagious among the tacticool crowd. I especially don't like the idea of blocking the windows.
      @Fjester: I searched around your channel, but didn't find a video on what gear to take along in your FJ when driving OH. Thinking moderate level, not something where I would need to have spare axle shafts or anything major. Do you have anything on that?

    I agree with every one of those poser mods. As well as the umpteen times you used the word penis. It is not used nearly enough in society. I think the word woke took over. Anyway, in addition to overmolleing (I just made that word up) and over modifying. It adds unnecessary weight to your rig. FJC gets ok fuel mileage for a 4 liter 6 cylinder but adding all these extras will get you worse fuel economy and put undue stress on components. All at the expense of looking prepared. Ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain. Pain on your vehicle which will transfer into your wallet.
