Why is Mermista so outwardly apathetic yet so adorable?
Because it's so obviously a front. I'm impressed at how they managed to make her so likeable despite being a really moody and sarcastic gal. It would have been easy to slip up and just make her outright unpleasant, but instead she turned out very #relateable and fun.
Everytime I watch this and he hits the high note on "Mermista", while walking up to her, it cracks me up

I think in first season she was genuinely not in love with him, especially the first ep they appeared. But over time, I think she started to return his crush until they genuinely became a very cute couple.
