I agree with you on TP and other folks on this forced poverty mindset, like its some badge of honor.
Having been poor at some point doesn't make you better or inherently more grateful or virtuous. It simply means at some point you were poor.
Your children can ve privileged and have whatever values you feel are important. That part is about what you take the time to model and teach them. How do you move in your home, with the people you see on a daily, within your community.
Do YOU have a generosity of spirit that your children see? Do you love them generously (your words, affection)? You can give your children the world, and as long as you underscore it with the values that mean the most to your family, they will be fine.
P.S. If they WANT to be a-holes when they grow up, there is nothing you can do about it.

The way some of y’all are comparing Tyler’s kid to your own upbringing-whether broke or middle class (like TP grew up)-is basically the whole point of the conversation Bondy is having with us.
That child didn’t grow up like yall (or his father) why force it on him🤔. Balance.

Because parents get to choose how they raise their children. He could try to raise a son like TI’s or like Simone’s ungrateful kids…or he can choose to raise his kids in a way where they have values, morals, appreciation and a work ethic.
And let’s be clear…growing up with a parent who has HOMES, takes you on international vacations, can introduce you to anything is not like Tyler’s upbringing. But does he need to go the extra mile on Christmas (one day) to prove to anybody that he can get them anything…no

The Mikki Howard conversation is tiresome. Not only is there a dbl standard when women talk about sex or their own body parts, there is also one when it's about black women vs white women. For example, people call Chloe Bailey all kind of mean names and she gets slut shamed for the way she dress and stuff...meanwhile Sabrina Carpenter can simulate sucking dck and different sexual positions during her concerts and everyone is excited and saying oh she's grown into a sex kitten and it's fun and flirty! And I love both of them, love Sabrina down..but people got mad at Chloe for singing about her vibrator.. It's ridiculous.

I mostly agree with you on the hardened energy of wealthy folks trying to parent children to be self-sufficient. The energy you were describing is a paternalistic approach. I really agreed with you that practicing nurture probably looks different than what he was expressing. Parents are not their kids friends either though. I think it's really hard to parent adolescents period. for all the reasons you said. "do as I say, not as I do" doesn't really work; and it really doesn't work with adolescents (12-25). But I also wanted to point out that TP may be modelling moderate privilege just by flying commercial. Real wealth is flying in private jets, not commercial. flying coach isn't poverty and first class isn't wealthy. anybody flying commercial is privileged as they are not on the Greyhound bus or stuck at home.

Coach is a punishment? Why not explain to the 10 year old the importance, the steps to working hard and having your hearts' desires. Who doesn't want to be able to give their children what they want as long as it is earned. I agree, TP sounds angry at his child, has an attitude with his child when it's a reflection of his and her's teachings, example for their son. He's only 10, not 18. Let him visit the studio, see the process, the work that led to the success, first class, private jets, vacations, Legos. He freely gives to strangers, but his son..........

41:33 Sad to hear the interviewer ask Miki Howard this question. I couldn't tell if the interviewer was asking because she seriously doesn't know when popular rap changed from mostly positive to mostly negative, or if she was just asking Miki Howard's opinion. BTW.... The correct answer is 1993. Even though Eazy E. with N.W.A., Uncle Luke with the 2 Live Crew and others existed before 1993, It was the December 1992 Death Row Records release of "The Chronic" album that cemented the change of black music forever. R&B (Through Keith Sweat and Silk) changed around the same time.

Now I will say this I like the way Beyoncé is doing with blue Ivy blue Ivy want to perform and she’s giving her that platform to perform with her mother and by no means do I think that that’s being handed to her I believe she had to work hard to remember those steps in to keep up with all those professional dancers. I hope Tyler Perry is doing that with his son or will. I believe in getting the kids things that they truly want and was in but they should have chores around the house and they should be getting good grades

You can creat humble human beings by using words. He can explain to his son how, why they are able to fly 1st class. All children complain and are impatient. I sensed the attitude when he spoke about the Legos, coach: so coach is punishment. Well, we see where the little one gets the entitlement and uppity mentality from. Coach, business, first class, we're on the same plane. Talk to the child, show the child, be an example. Now the son thinks coach is punishment and will judge everyone who sits in coach (beneath his father). Yes, way to go!

Just recently I was listening to Dionne Warwick’s song Walk on by . I’ve heard the lyrics before, but I never took it to consideration that she was talking about a dude that broke her heart and tell him every time y’all walking down the street and you see me cry just walk on by. Like why do I have to keep seeing you every day as a reminder that you broke my heart you get one good cry out of me and the next day I’m moving on like the relationship even didn’t exist😂😂😂

To me it feels like most black poeple with money hate that their kids have a better and easier life, its weird.
For some reason alot of black poeple rich or poor dont know how to love their kids right and or will not for the world to see .
Look at most others their kids have it good good because their parents got it. You can spoil your kids and still teach them morals etc.
