    Did the Bulls have unfair expectations for Thomas? Did he need better guards around him? Or was he not that good? www.stuntedgrowth3.com ON SALE!!! Salute 💪🏾💯

      All of the above, He seem like he was more solid then strimole swift ,however he seemed to be with the wrong team at the wrong time for his hustle around the rim style of play

    • @carltonsaffold9940
      @carltonsaffold9940 4 года назад +2

      CHI did have unfair expectations for him (he was never a franchise-changing player) and he did get a better guard when Rose came along...but (like Swift), he wasn't that good. A few ESPN highlight dunks per game never leads to a (positively) memorable career. Personally, I believe he and Swift were unfortunately brought into the league during an era where bigs were transitioning from "the block" to 15ft+ out to the perimeter. However, that is NO excuse for not working on expanding your game. With his athleticism/tools, and a true desire to improve/evolve his game, he could have left the league with 17pts & 8-10reb career averages.

      I’ll never forget that. LMA was a consensus future All-Star and exactly the kind of big we needed at the time. The FO was gambling on Tyrus because they always picked the “safe” players like LMA. Well, that was for a good reason. Most of our picks in this era were really good and we built a playoff team. LMA would have been enough to make us elite (but likely not get Rose later on). Imagine having Ben Wallace, Aldrigde, Deng, Gordon, Hinrich with Duhon, Larry Hughes, Nocioni, Drew Gooden and Joakim Noah off the bench. That’s a fucking squad in the East back then.

      He actually did end up developing a reliable jumper and was turning the corner once Rose came to the team. The FO was just being impatient and never gave him enough playing time, just like 20 min a game. His Per 36 numbers his final year was 15/10 with 2 stl and 2.5 blk a game. He was only 23 years old. We should have kept him. Our coaches were garbage too. Imagine if he was able to play for Thibs who was actually good at player development. He would have been a beast given time and opportunity.

I'm from md so seeing mason make their run was fun albeit at the expense of my boy Rashad anderson and UConn. Randy foye was a bad man on Nova. But Tyrus thomas and big baby snapped too that year in March. Good call stunted. I remember when he was on stage for his draft interview talking about Frederick Douglas. Another club banger, JC!
    This got me thinking...remember when the mid 2000s was considered a point guard renaissance? Crazy to think today with all the elite level lead guards we currently have. But at the time it was true. After the Hardaways and Paytons of the world got older, star point guards were hard to find outside of Jason Kidd. Unless you were counting severely flawed guys like Marbury, B Dizzy, and Stevie French Fries. Which most people weren't. Then all of a sudden, Nash blows up, guys like Heinrich and Devis Harris come into the league, Tony Parker comes into his own, Chauncey finds a real home, and CP3, DWill, and Ray Felton all come out of the same draft. It sounds ludicrous today in comparison to what we see every night, but we all thought we were living in a golden era.

      The story about LA was that Scott Skiles, who was the coach of the Bulls at the time, stared at him for a crazy length of time during the pre-draft interview. LA immediately didn't like Scott Skiles and asked to not be drafted by the Bulls. Hence, the trade to the Trail Blazers. LA, next to Derrick Rose would have been something.

    He should have been in the league for years he wasn’t anything close to being even the 3rd best player on a team, but 100% could have been an energy big off the bench he had great defensive presence, and was a lob threat for easy buckets, and was a great offensive rebounder exactly what you’d want from a big off the bench.

    I personally liked the fact that we got Tyrus over Aldridge... it took a while for Aldridge to develop into the star that he is/was. Tyrus was an "Elite" rim protector with a high motor... you hit it on the head with your mention of him needing a guard tho🏀

    Saying that the management was ignorant to Tyrus Thomas and his development is untrue. If you look at all the other players the Bulls drafted like Deng, Hinrich, Taj Gibson, Sefolosha and more it shows that they had great scouting and weren’t ignorant. Clearly Tyrus Thomas just didn’t have the skill or the work ethic to match his athletic talent.
