I’m a single mom of a 2 year old I’m from the Bay Area ( California) so over California non stop fires and high rent I really wanna move to Dallas but I wanna make sure it’s a good move job wise and day care wise
With CoVID the daycare thing is a little weird. I'd say lock down your job and residence first and then see about daycares and their hours. The reason I stress this is because folks don't realize how big DFW is. I worked about 20 minutes away from my son daycare but in the evenings, due to traffic and constant construction, I had to stick with a slightly higher daycare cause they were open till 6:30p when all the less expensive ones were only till 6. That 20 mins turned into an hour plus every evening. And when I say I had to run out of work at exact 5:29 no later I mean it. A lot of time the daycare staff would be side eyeing me cause I was the last parent to pick up.
Moving out to Dallas from Fresno CA, we are currently on 40 homicides on the year and it’s only July. To add to that, for a decent apartment here it’s about 1,500 at the least. Our summers are months of 100 degree weather and homeless everywhere. Our high taxes go to pockets of government officials because our roads are pot hole ridden and trash everywhere. When I visited Dallas it was a new world of clean streets, friendly people, and beautiful parks.
Did you end up moving? How do you like Dallas? I’ve lived in Sacramento, Bay Area, Clovis, Tulare, & Long Beach. Thinking of making the move but I’m scared.
@@keshacoffee yeah I’m out here now. So far it’s been great! Coming from Cali I will say I miss the scenery of our state since most of Texas is pretty flat. Other than that, it’s such a clean state and great restaurant and things to do everywhere. I first moved near the city kind of downtown, but the place I chose didn’t work out for me so I moved further north to Frisco which is a quiet city with plenty of new building going on and the safest place for kids and anyone in general. Coming from Fresno it’s a shock for sure lol
Ive lived in Dallas all my life and never use the toll roads unless i have too. I think ive been on 4 times this year and i drive a lot, doordash and just cruise all day. Hell yeeeeeah rudys chicken i just heard that. I feel so honored ive seen their growth throughout the years, i remember the OG raggedy ass building😂

I moved to Phoenix from Idaho about 2 years ago and I don't like the straight desert ( Idaho is also a desert do tired of it ) :/ Scenery is a big thing to me. Also I like how it has 4 seasons. I know the winters don't have snow though. Thanks for the info.
@@KaiaXoxo well Dallas does have plenty of opportunities and Industrys. And compared to LA,NYC,Chicago,SF,DC and Miami, Dallas Is clean...trust me I've been😂
I grew up in Chicago and moved to DFW in 2002. I moved back to Chicago then moved back to Dallas *again.* I’ve lived in the best and worst of Dallas. The worst is still better.
I always see no to Dallas and yes to Houston. Pros of Dallas: Cleaner and pays well. Cons: Lacks diversity (just because demographically it’s diverse, doesn’t mean it’s not segregated). Houston is diverse is integrated. Both have shitty traffic but coming from Cali, I’m used to it. Nothing I’ve commented is my experience but just what Others have posted. So it’s interesting to hear your perspective. I’m a young black woman that prefers inclusivity and diversity. I’m not for just being in a one race city. I’ve done that in Wisconsin til I was 12 (predominately black and then predominately white). I’ve been in Cali since I was 12 and although hella diverse, there’s definitely places where you know you’re not welcomed.
girl you should’ve got a house coming here, you’ll definitely pay for what you want in a really nice apartment. but frisco, Lewisville, Plano are not only the areas that have really nice & safe places.
Make sure you get a Texas driver's license. When you applying for jobs. Unless you know people. I moved to the Dfw area in 2016. Moving from Maryland Dallas is not diverse. I glad I moved back to the east coast.
@@KingAsa5 I didn't get the first interview until I had texas address. Three people told me about their experiences in Dallas. I have to say moving from Maryland was a big mistake.
@@lifeleader8427 coming here to texas and getting a job is like starting a new job and automatically You get a promotion while the ones who been working there longer sit back and watch. Texas caters to Texas...and not many companies like to hire outsiders unless you have a texan address.

Prices are relatively inexpensive now, given the influx over the next few years that will increase. I’m a 40 yr TX native and prices are increasing. For people coming in from over taxed states it seems super cheap.
I think people from los Angeles should move to san Antonio and people from san Diego should move corpus Christi and northern CA should move to Austin up to DFW

Why aren’t the communities in California improving? Especially Compton? You will notice the district and who is controlling the district. And you’ll see why it won’t improve. You will see their policies. How much did they invest and whether did they invest into those communities. Be Careful who you vote for. Please spend 10 minute and google search who you’re voting for and their policies. It will make a big difference.
@@KingAsa5 what’s wrong with Plano? Apart from it being far from the main attractions. Haven’t heard anything bout Frisco and Arlington I heard you just gotta pick the right area cuz it’s kind of rough out there.
@@LetsGoFlo plano is racist. Not many blacks live there...its mostly Eastern Asians and Whites..Trust me you dont wanna move to Plano. It's full of Racist Republicans. And the Blacks and Latinos are segregated to the East side. Frisco is a wealthier version of plano..Only blacks who live up there are Wealthy blacks and Conservatives and Traffic up there sucks. There is no Public transit in Frisco, so if you stuck on The Freeway then you're just stuck on the freeway. Arlington needs prayer. Outside of The entertainment district it's all Ghetto. It's like the Texas version of LongBeach..just no ocean. The racist whites live in North Arlington..the Asians live in East And Central Arlington and Blacks and Latinos live to the south. Theres always something happening out there..and there is no public transit in Arlington despite it being a Semi Major city. Also Arlington is Entirely too far From Dallas and From Fortworth..so commutes are long. Just stick to Dallas county..Dallas, Irving, Richardson, Addison,Farmers Branch etc. That's where its most walkable, more public Transit, more diverse and Shorter commutes. Living out in the suburbs is just a hassle
@@LetsGoFlo 😂😂😭😭 Arlington Wild. Everywhere else is in Richardson is amazing. Irving is amazing..its a big city so you can easily get lost in Irving. Valley ranch and Las colinas are the best parts of irving..its beautifulllllllll... The Hills overlook the Eastern half of the Metroplex and you can see all of Dallas county and Collin County..its an amazing view up in Valley Ranch. Dallas is the best in my opinion..The Arts District, Uptown and Knox henderson are my favorite neighborhoods. Arts District is always full of culture, and Uptown is always vibrant
Omgg great video! This helped me so much! I have always said I want to move to Texas. I have literally been binge watching apartment tour videos and more about the top places to be in Dallas. Other than Bumble BFF, has it been easy making friends?
Thank you!! It’s been easy to make friends, luckily I became close to my co-workers. Once you start going to events, you’ll meet people all the time too💕
I agree with itsjulia..going to events and coworkers are great places to meet people. I like attending Fashion shows,Or Street performances or performing Arts..
The food in Dallas sucks I’m from Mississippi so to compared to Dallas it’s not all that. It’s a lot of tacos stands and elotes. Rudy’s is awesome. It just take too long though. I’ve lived here since 16. I’m in the Greenville ave area.
I really liked the Las Colinas area and only have been familiar with that area because a friend of mine used to live there. I’m curious if you’re moving to another area and where? Or if you’d recommend Las Colinas?
I definitely recommend it, it’s a nice suburb. I enjoyed living there. It’s quiet, lots of green space and families. I just want to switch it up now, so I’m moving to the city. I hope this helps!
May I ask...how do you get up and move from your city....and go to a new city ...and the apartments require 3x the rent and a lot of the jobs on indeed pay 15-20 an hour how do you get into an apartment and prove 3x the proof of income??
I would definitely reach out to an apartment locator, just to make sure they recommend good areas for you. I would also make sure you have your pay stubs printed or offer letter on hand. Just for piece of mind, I would also look at some places online yourself because some locators just send the same hand full of properties. Always check the distance of the apartment from work/school, grocery stores, etc. Good luck!
@@JustJuliaRUclips Okay yes definitely! BUT my main question is that I'm going to be new in the area and obviously I have to look for a job first. So by you saying bring my check stubs....you mean from past job? Like Idk if im explaining this right lol
Oh gotcha, definitely get a job first before you move. You most likely won’t get approved for an apartment unless you have current income or an offer letter to show them.
If you don’t mind my asking, how do you work from home? I would like to work from home as well, but I’m not interested in doing RUclips. Thank you for the video
My job went remote when the pandemic started so I transitioned into working from home but I used to go into the office. I would recommend searching for remote jobs on ZipRecruiter and Indeed, I see a ton there!
Me too looking to move from S. Cali, but want to visit first. Btw, rent in Southern Cali has decrease due to covid for now because many people moving out. 1 bedroom now is $1,300-$1,400 from $1,600-$1,800, and many landlord giving first month rent free (yessirr), but rent always increase $100 a year, so I don't trust all this bs.
@@nibabi ...I agree, that's why many Californians moving out, some living in their cars or renting room in a house. Imagine if minimal wage increase to $15, rent would double, food would not be affordable at all, gas price is high right now already & would double too.
Yes that’s a great question. I can’t afford to buy everything new all over again . There are moving companies that will ship across states and you can get a quote for the cost of shipping your car . I think once your items arrive the movers will help you move. If not then you have to find movers
I'm a single professional moving from Washington DC to Dallas within the next few months. Do you have any apartment recommendations in Uptown? I'm looking for a 1 bedroom apartment and have a budget around $1,500 - $1,800 a month. Also, which apartment locator do recommend? This video was very helpful so thank you
If you’re looking to stay in Uptown, the two places I loved were The Arden apartments and The 23. I used a locator with Dash Realty to find my place. Best of luck!
@@VirgosGroove3 Dallas lacks an identity in my opinion. It’s just a big city, there was nothing special about it. I also felt that people were less friendly than any other part of Texas and kind of uppity. I’m originally from Texas and I’ve lived in every major city in Texas. Houston is known for food, music, and southern hospitality. Austin is known for nature, live music, and these days the tech industry. I still don’t know what Dallas is known for. It feels like a hodgepodge of a city.

I’m a single mom of a 2 year old I’m from the Bay Area ( California) so over California non stop fires and high rent I really wanna move to Dallas but I wanna make sure it’s a good move job wise and day care wise
You'll love Texas, just remember why you moved here though!!
Lol im from the bay area looking to move to Texas too
With CoVID the daycare thing is a little weird.
S. Cali looking to move out there too.
Girl from Fresno looking to move to Tx as well
I live in NY and I am moving to Dallas. Thank you.
@@thebigcheese5114 thanks for sharing your experience!
The instrumental playing is really, really cool.🎶🎷 When I think of Dallas, I imagine a beautiful, clean city with plenty of opportunities in many different industries. Thanks for your info. I moved to Phoenix from Idaho about 2 years ago and I don't like the straight desert ( Idaho is also a desert do tired of it ) :/ Scenery is a big thing to me. Also I like how it has 4 seasons. I know the winters don't have snow though. Thanks for the info.

Yup, Cali in a lot of parts is more of a mosaic than a “melting pot”
@Ryan Jackson boy you making shit up. 40% of Dallas walls or takes public transportation? 😂😂😂 you out your mind

girl you should’ve got a house coming here, you’ll definitely pay for what you want in a really nice apartment. but frisco, Lewisville, Plano are not only the areas that have really nice & safe places.
I honestly regret not getting a house to rent 🥲

Make sure you get a Texas driver's license. When you applying for jobs. Unless you know people. I moved to the Dfw area in 2016. Moving from Maryland Dallas is not diverse. I glad I moved back to the east coast.
Dallas is very diverse..it's the 3rd most diverse metro and 5th most diverse City..
Sooo yea
@@KingAsa5 I didn't get the first interview until I had texas address. Three people told me about their experiences in Dallas. I have to say moving from Maryland was a big mistake.
@@lifeleader8427 coming here to texas and getting a job is like starting a new job and automatically You get a promotion while the ones who been working there longer sit back and watch.

You're brave and beautiful. I laughed when you commented on your background - aesthetics are important 😆I loathe tolls, I avoid them like the plague!
Dallas reminds of ATL Georgia Hot summers and Cold Fall and winters and Leafs turning Orange during the fall and also the city Vibe
Love it here 9 months in Fort Worth, Tx. everything is on point. I never take a tolls yet.

Prices are relatively inexpensive now, given the influx over the next few years that will increase. I’m a 40 yr TX native and prices are increasing. For people coming in from over taxed states it seems super cheap.

I’m moving to Dallas later this year so I def need the insight. Funniest part of this vlog tho is you talking bout food 🤣🤣
Just dont move to Arlington,Frisco,Plano etc. Stick to Dallas county
@@KingAsa5 the Arlington part 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but bet. Good looks. Yeah Irving, Dallas, and Richardson been on my list.
@@LetsGoFlo 😂😂😭😭 Arlington Wild.
I'm actually from Richardson.. it's great Just no African Americans..Mostly Chinese, Thai, Indians, Banglanese, Kenyans, Ethiopians, Mexicans, Eritreans, Salvadorians etc.
Dont go to Chinatown, they are very racist there.

@@JustJuliaRUclips thank you! I am really considering moving Dallas. But the only area I know of is Las Colinas. Appreciate the info.

May I ask...how do you get up and move from your city....and go to a new city ...and the apartments require 3x the rent and a lot of the jobs on indeed pay 15-20 an hour how do you get into an apartment and prove 3x the proof of income??
Good question. The roles I interview for are salaried and pay higher than that range so I’m able to qualify
What are your tips on first timers looking to rent their first apartment in Arlington & relocating? I really want to go about things correctly 😩
Like how did you relocate?
Oh gotcha, definitely get a job first before you move. You most likely won’t get approved for an apartment unless you have current income or an offer letter to show them.
If you don’t mind my asking, how do you work from home? I would like to work from home as well, but I’m not interested in doing RUclips. Thank you for the video
My job went remote when the pandemic started so I transitioned into working from home but I used to go into the office. I would recommend searching for remote jobs on ZipRecruiter and Indeed, I see a ton there!

Fantastic video. I want to go to Texas
An increase of $100 is ridiculous! An increase of about $0-25 is reasonable.
@@nibabi ...I agree, that's why many Californians moving out, some living in their cars or renting room in a house. Imagine if minimal wage increase to $15, rent would double, food would not be affordable at all, gas price is high right now already & would double too.
COME BACK BEAUTIFUL BABIE
Great Video!!! What route did yo take as far as moving companies? Did you rent a truck? Did you have your things shipped? I need some resource sis!
Thank you! and I didn’t ship anything or use a moving company. I took everything in my Jeep and donated what wouldn’t fit🥲
Yes that’s a great question. I can’t afford to buy everything new all over again . There are moving companies that will ship across states and you can get a quote for the cost of shipping your car . I think once your items arrive the movers will help you move. If not then you have to find movers
