I believe that Liu Kang would have purposely tried to take Havik out of the timeline, though since some things are just fated to happen, so Dairou ends up becoming Havik instead.

Vaeternus as it exists in _M1K_ is a *far* bigger threat than Chaosrealm and Havik ever were, even in the tie-in comic book with that Blood Code nonsense. It becomes even more a plot hole between Chaosrealm previously being necessary for universal stablity *and* given that the far worse Netherrrealm still exists in _M1K_ too. Even as someone who missed all of the 3D era games, it becomes even more jarring because I'm like 99% sure that Liu Kang and original Havik literally never interacted. I guess I could see it as Fire God Liu Kang being a bit myopic about "chaos = bad", but it sure isn't presented that way.

And why would you want Outworld blood anyway there’s a disease out? You’d think she’d be more into trying to cure the disease so her people can have a clean feeding source before anything, and again there are so many mythological creatures in Outworld I find it hard to believe I think if Skarlet were in the game she’d be a doctor before anything just because her main weapon of choice itself is compromised

@@hershinI don't know if this has been confirmed or not, but I heard a few times that this game was originally meant to be an Injustice game, but it got changed, probably during the very early production stages, so that, alongside the fact that the game was being produced during the pandemic and the game's current unfinished state, seem to support the fact that, holy crap, the game was rushed.
@@vaggos2003 I've heard the same rumour. This was supposed to be an Injustice game. That's why they have the stupid Kameo thing. Kameos would have made more sense in an Injustice game (Batman with Robin as a Kameo, etc). Instead, we get a rushed MK with bits that make no sense. Aside from that, to wait for a full year to get all the characters in Kombat Pack 1 is just insane.

Sooo, Liu Kang was able to recreate the universe. He couldn’t outright get rid of people, for reasons, as pointed out over and over in the story mode and by characters. But he was able to totally wipe away an entire realm? Ummmm, ok.
I feel like these are fair points, but also this is the entire point of redoing the timeline, so that things don't have to be exactly the same. Though I would point out that in the story, they reduced the nuance to a line where she explains drinking blood doesn't make them evil.

mk1 is my first exposure to mk lore so i dont approach this with the same nostalgia for the characters but personally i like havik. i think the idea of a guy whose people have been oppressed to the point of radicalization but in the completely wrong direction is interesting. he hates orderrealm because of the way orderrealm treats him and his caste so he becomes the antithesis to everything orderrealm stands for i personally dont like nitara but i also feel like she isnt really evil in mk1 either. she has a goal, which is to remedy vaeturius's hunger crisis, and shes simply willing to do whatever it takes to keep her people from starving. shes putting her people above the rest, sure, but its not out of her being evil or having some sort of a supremacist ideology. instead, she wants to pick up the slack where she believes the systems around her failed. i dont like nitara and i feel like netherrealm wanted to present a weird moral dillemma to make the players 'think', it feels very fake deep to me lol, but i still wouldnt say shes a generic evil vampire. generic vampire is more like eliza from tekken 7, i think nitara has more to her than that

I think other 3D characters were also done a disservice, too. Darrius is one, and that's maybe in part because he's a Kameo, but also because there's no Hotaru in game. Darrius is not the Seidan loyalist, instead of the leader of the resistance against its tyrannical government. It's a pretty big change, I would say. The other who has been done a disservice, in my opinion, is Reiko. In the game shows him as a (in my opinion) generic military man, loyal to General Shao but nothing beyond that. It may be a silly aspect (and heaven forbid modern MK characters be silly, right? Goodness, we need Mokap for some levity), but his obsession with Shao Kahn in the original games was one of the major aspects of the original timeline. He didn't just follow Shao Kahn, he wanted to *be* Shao Kahn, and would even dress up like him, sneaking into the throne room to put on the helmet. It may have been a bit of a retcon to make him like that starting in Deception, but it's a personality he had, at least. Even Ashrah seems to have been flattened as a character. In the original timeline, she may have been a good person, but Datusha was evil things without her knowing it. But, I think the sword is one that actually purifies one's soul now. Sure, there's intro dialogue that may suggest it's never going to do it (absolution always seeming just out of reach), but then you look at her dialogues with Liu Kang, and never once does he raise concerns about the sword and its actions, and instead implies it's on the level. Considering Liu Kang should know everything about Datusha, that's evidence that said aspect isn't a thing now. Come to think of it, it's interesting how many of the returning 3D characters were in Deception, either debuting or at least showing up there. Nitara and Reiko weren't (at least not playable--Konquest is a different story), but Ashrah, Havik, Darrius, and Shujinko debuted there (as did Dairou, but I still don't want to believe that the Havik we see is actually the Dairou we played as before, because that's ridiculous), and meanwhile Tanya made a return in that game, with Kenshi and Li Mei carrying over from Deadly Alliance (and Frost doing so in Unchained). Not only that, but Onaga is heavily referenced, and Damashi is again used as a deceptive alias. Maybe there's nothing to that, but it feels important. Deadly Alliance didn't get as much reference (woo, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi are teaming up. Again. How many times is that now?), and Armageddon is really only given as a backdrop for the final battle, which is not even nearly the same circumstances which caused the original timeline's Armageddon to happen, so it just feels like nostalgic window dressing (and yes, Argus and Delia are referenced in the game, so there's that, but they and their children are the only Edenian deities who have been shown as of yet--and Argus is really the only one at that, since Delia is a sorceress, not a goddess, which is important to the story of Taven and Daegon, since they're not full gods, and that would have been remedied for whoever defeated Blaze).
I would love if Nitara's voice was actually done by Beata Pozniak (Skarlet's Mk11 voice actress) and Nitara also had hexes and spells in her moveset. Mk1 Nitara comes across as childish, immature, and unwise despite her age as a long lived vampire and it would have helped as you said if NRS had maintained her 3d era characterization and Pozniak's voice would've aided in that endeavor. I think if they wanted Megan Fox to be Nitara so badly why not just do what they did with Jean Claude Van Damme and make a separate skin for Nitara with Fox's likeness and voice and the default version was done by someone who actually fit the role. I would also add that Tanya also did get very good treatment in terms of her character and she has been made completely unrecognizable. Very good points and love the video.
I dont like how Raiden and Kung Lao are so similar. They have almost the same style. I wouldve liked if they had more an own style, they looks kinda like bland farmers, nothing special about them now... From being a powerful elder god to just a farmer with a straw hat. In the beginning I had problems to know who was who because of the similar hats and outfits

Haviks fighting style would fit meat better. I don't like how he rips of his limbs & separates his body. It was a lot creepier when he would break & contort his body with his skin twising with him.

I actually liked Havik in MK1, I actually really dig the revolutionary with extremely shotty logic to the point he's even trying to free people who aren't even slaves and I actually really like the direction they go with him and Rain in the tower endings. My biggest issue is why the hell is he just a jobber? I think if they bring in Hotaru they can give Havik more to do and make him less a jobber and more a secondary villain. Just do more with this guy, he has depth handed to you in a silver platter netherrealm, please don't let this guy join Reiko and Shao in the jobber category.

And that which you just said is one of the most annoying things when discussing the game and in a way one of the most annoying things about the game itself. A lot of the story and aestgetic critisisms can just be deflected with "lol, it's a new timeline, get over the previous ones" to which I respond with "good, then I don't need to care about this series anymore, because the series itself doesn't care about its own continuity and lore anymore", because now not only everything pre-established has changed so much, both in- and out-of-universe, that almost all connections to the past of the series are lost or unrecognisably altered, up to the point where the series doesn't even feel like itself anymore. And what makes long-term investment even harder is that feeling at the back of our heads that even this new status quo that was created to replace the status quo we've been following for years that was created to replace the previous status quo can be replaced with an even brander newer status quo on a whim.
The thing is with nitara is that netherrealm is the same studio that made sindel evil just because she looked evil so they probably had the same viewpoint for her

I'm Havik main just because I enjoy his gameplay but I feel like the 3D era Havik was so much better in terms of personality and how he acts/talks/look
The original Havik's calm voice felt a little creepy. Like on the outside (despite his appearance lol) made him seem pretty chill but you could tell there was barely contained violence and chaos just boiling beneath the surface. I think Nitara's MK1 design is "okay" in my opinion but good lord I don't know what the devil they were thinking with her voice man. The vampire being a neutral manipulator was very interesting. Not for malevolent intentions but to free her realm from Outworld. And even then, kept her end of the bargain with Cyrax though still kind of screwed over Reptile. I just don't think this alternate timelines and constant reboot BS is needed and is just annoying to us longtime MK fans.
Yeah let's not also not forget how they ruined my boy Bi-Han as well. Sure he was never a good guy but also he was never a straight up villain like how they made him in mk1. In talking about when he was still sub zero
Going off the dairou aspect of this I don’t find a problem there because scorpion is kuai liang and they changed who raiden was, so I don’t think that part was as bad as changing the background completely

What’s funnier about NRS fumbling Havik is they knew exactly what he was about. They made him the absolute perfect menace in the mkx comics. Like he was such a threat and so unpredictable that he was pretty much the main villain of that comic. He was perfect. And then they decided to change that for whatever reason.
They did my boy Raiden all wrong, performance-wise. I miss the days when he used to fly at his opponent while yelling *Furaingu Sandaa Rei!* (lit. "Flying Thunder Ray") But Ed Boon took that away from his character for cultural appropriation bullsh!t, because it seemed in the early MK games that they were "mocking Asian people".

All 3D era characters are in there best state in mk1 in terms of gameplay and design.and honestly gameplays is the most important thing so i wouldn't call it ruined people are embarrassing to hate a character just because of its voice when its gameplay is amazing.
I'm honestly a fan of Chaosrealm being rewritten into Orderrealm. I always felt that Chaosrealm didn't make any sense. I thought Outworld made a better Chaosrealm because it was a realm of all these different monsters trying to conquer everything. Chaosrealm just sounds like a first draft version of the name and all the other realms represented a different aspect of the One Being but in a subtle way. Edenia was heaven, Netherealm was hell and so on. Calling Chaosrealm this name is like calling a realm "Cool Realm". I agree that Havik was written poorly though 😂
I honestly feel bad for Havik and Nintra about this and am not judging them and the characters looks great. And hopefully they deserve a chance in MK part 2 and fingers crossed.🤞❤

my head canon is that the writers told Liu Kang what to change in his new era just so he has always has a higher chance of winning each fight canonically, but at the same time ruined what made Nitara and especially Havik beloved in the first place.
Havik is one of my mains in Mk1. I liked his character, for the most part, but now with the context of his characterization in the 3d area, I think he’s lackluster. It feels like NRS wanted to cater to fans like me who weren’t around for the 3d era games, and as a result made Havik and Nitara generic baddies to fight in story mode. It’s almost insulting, as someone invested in Mk’s story.
Havik is ruined. First off, him being Dairou is as grossly offensive as Kuai Liang being Scorpion. Probably worse. STOP IT! I hate NRS. It’s so annoying. Havik is always shouting and angry and that’s just not Havik. He originally had this smooth whispery voice. It’s a subversion of what you’d expect from a man that looks like that and THAT is CHAOS! He’s not even a chaosrealmer as pointed out in the video. And for a guy all about chaos, he’s very totalitarian which is disgusting. “By force”? HAVIK WOULD NEVER SAY THIS! And he’s a jobber in the story. He’s just awful. And I hate the ridiculous way he gets his face. Nitara as stated in the video is just an evil character. Nothing to her. She used to be so cool and cunning but made good on her promises.
They charge you money for a skin thats 80% accurate for Nitara what a shame. Horrible voice acting and terrible choice of 3d character modelling. So bland, afraid of showing attractive women but not afraid of showing shirtless men showing alot of skin
MK needs a true reboot at this point. Redo everything eith no timeline garbage. Maybe make a return to 3D fighting, especially after seeing Tekken do it well.
I know johnny is easy to play as, but legacy wise, i hate how they have to reinvent him every game. Not sure if this applies to other fan favorite characters though
Gonna be honest, the whole calling Dairou a tumor for Havik's replacement was a bit to much for me. Dairou isn't the most memorable character, but he wasn't terrible, just a little bland. I found the reveal honestly pretty cool, and the fact that the previous timeline is still real means that the original Havik is still around. I'm excited to see if they ever do anything with them. Maybe introduce them to each other and see how they work.
People were clowning Megan Fox for voicing nitara in this game when in reality she's decent. She's not bad but she's not good either. I feel like it's the way she delivers her line that are the problem. The only difference between her and Ronda Rousey though is that Ronda at least had fun voicing Sonya and she actually tried where as Megan Fox sounds like she's bored 90% of the time. If I have to say who has the worst voice in the mortal Kombat games it would be Dimitri Vegas. That's my opinion
I agree with almost everything you said, however I don't see why vampires who can fly, don't need medical science, and have magic would bother with technology. It makes sense that their architectural advancement would be unnecessary.
I am an old school Mortal Kombat player, as in 1 & 2. I am not familiar with characters like Havok and Nitara, but I am familiar with Scorpion’s background and they screwed the pooch in making him Kuai Liang. It doesn’t make any sense. At his core Scorpion is a man so obsessed with revenge for the murder of his family that Hell itself spat him out. That is why he spits hellfire. Now apparently Bi Han’s little brother has fire powers for reasons.
I seen some people say how its another timeline so its okay for changes. While thats true alot of this is what made the characters interesting and stories great. Like nitara for example. The timeline reset in mk4 and mk9 and they still respected and did great with the characters. I'm not upset because its a new timeline but at the same time i get why people are mad at the changes. Especially since before mk1 the lore had so much stuff
To be perfectly honest, the most relevant and fun thing to come out of the story mode was Shang Tsung. He was extremely charismatic. Most of the other characters were forgettable. And they totally ruined Shao Kahn, too. He used to be a menace in the original 2d trilogy.
NGL storywise aside i actually dig Nitara especially Havik's design on this game and it's a bit better than their Deception and Armageddon counterparts While i have no problems with Havik (And to his voice actor who did JUSTICE of voicing him) the same can't be said about Nitara and my problem about her is: *WHY DID THEY DECIDED* to put Megan Fox as Nitara's voice actress? Don't get me wrong i really *REALLY LOVED* her performance in Jennifer's Body but *WHY HER?* There's A LOT of talented Artists out there that can voice Nitara VERY WELL hell! This makes Ronda Rousey's Sonya in MK11 looked like an oscar winning performance (But to Rousey's credit AT LEAST SHE TRIED AND KINDA NAILED voicing Sonya Blade in most of the scenes in MK11 unlike Fox WHO DIDN'T EVEN TRY IN THE FIRST PLACE)

I believe that Liu Kang would have purposely tried to take Havik out of the timeline, though since some things are just fated to happen, so Dairou ends up becoming Havik instead.

Vaeternus as it exists in _M1K_ is a *far* bigger threat than Chaosrealm and Havik ever were, even in the tie-in comic book with that Blood Code nonsense. It becomes even more a plot hole between Chaosrealm previously being necessary for universal stablity *and* given that the far worse Netherrrealm still exists in _M1K_ too. Even as someone who missed all of the 3D era games, it becomes even more jarring because I'm like 99% sure that Liu Kang and original Havik literally never interacted.
I guess I could see it as Fire God Liu Kang being a bit myopic about "chaos = bad", but it sure isn't presented that way.
I loved Nitara in the 3D era games because she was neutral and had so much character depth.

@@hershinI don't know if this has been confirmed or not, but I heard a few times that this game was originally meant to be an Injustice game, but it got changed, probably during the very early production stages, so that, alongside the fact that the game was being produced during the pandemic and the game's current unfinished state, seem to support the fact that, holy crap, the game was rushed.

Kameos would have made more sense in an Injustice game (Batman with Robin as a Kameo, etc). Instead, we get a rushed MK with bits that make no sense. Aside from that, to wait for a full year to get all the characters in Kombat Pack 1 is just insane.

Sooo, Liu Kang was able to recreate the universe. He couldn’t outright get rid of people, for reasons, as pointed out over and over in the story mode and by characters. But he was able to totally wipe away an entire realm? Ummmm, ok.
In the new era, I think the original Havik was killed, and Dairou took his place, like the student becoming the teacher.
I feel like these are fair points, but also this is the entire point of redoing the timeline, so that things don't have to be exactly the same. Though I would point out that in the story, they reduced the nuance to a line where she explains drinking blood doesn't make them evil.

mk1 is my first exposure to mk lore so i dont approach this with the same nostalgia for the characters but personally i like havik. i think the idea of a guy whose people have been oppressed to the point of radicalization but in the completely wrong direction is interesting. he hates orderrealm because of the way orderrealm treats him and his caste so he becomes the antithesis to everything orderrealm stands for
i personally dont like nitara but i also feel like she isnt really evil in mk1 either. she has a goal, which is to remedy vaeturius's hunger crisis, and shes simply willing to do whatever it takes to keep her people from starving. shes putting her people above the rest, sure, but its not out of her being evil or having some sort of a supremacist ideology. instead, she wants to pick up the slack where she believes the systems around her failed. i dont like nitara and i feel like netherrealm wanted to present a weird moral dillemma to make the players 'think', it feels very fake deep to me lol, but i still wouldnt say shes a generic evil vampire. generic vampire is more like eliza from tekken 7, i think nitara has more to her than that

I think other 3D characters were also done a disservice, too. Darrius is one, and that's maybe in part because he's a Kameo, but also because there's no Hotaru in game. Darrius is not the Seidan loyalist, instead of the leader of the resistance against its tyrannical government. It's a pretty big change, I would say. The other who has been done a disservice, in my opinion, is Reiko. In the game shows him as a (in my opinion) generic military man, loyal to General Shao but nothing beyond that. It may be a silly aspect (and heaven forbid modern MK characters be silly, right? Goodness, we need Mokap for some levity), but his obsession with Shao Kahn in the original games was one of the major aspects of the original timeline. He didn't just follow Shao Kahn, he wanted to *be* Shao Kahn, and would even dress up like him, sneaking into the throne room to put on the helmet. It may have been a bit of a retcon to make him like that starting in Deception, but it's a personality he had, at least.
Even Ashrah seems to have been flattened as a character. In the original timeline, she may have been a good person, but Datusha was evil things without her knowing it. But, I think the sword is one that actually purifies one's soul now. Sure, there's intro dialogue that may suggest it's never going to do it (absolution always seeming just out of reach), but then you look at her dialogues with Liu Kang, and never once does he raise concerns about the sword and its actions, and instead implies it's on the level. Considering Liu Kang should know everything about Datusha, that's evidence that said aspect isn't a thing now.
Come to think of it, it's interesting how many of the returning 3D characters were in Deception, either debuting or at least showing up there. Nitara and Reiko weren't (at least not playable--Konquest is a different story), but Ashrah, Havik, Darrius, and Shujinko debuted there (as did Dairou, but I still don't want to believe that the Havik we see is actually the Dairou we played as before, because that's ridiculous), and meanwhile Tanya made a return in that game, with Kenshi and Li Mei carrying over from Deadly Alliance (and Frost doing so in Unchained). Not only that, but Onaga is heavily referenced, and Damashi is again used as a deceptive alias. Maybe there's nothing to that, but it feels important. Deadly Alliance didn't get as much reference (woo, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi are teaming up. Again. How many times is that now?), and Armageddon is really only given as a backdrop for the final battle, which is not even nearly the same circumstances which caused the original timeline's Armageddon to happen, so it just feels like nostalgic window dressing (and yes, Argus and Delia are referenced in the game, so there's that, but they and their children are the only Edenian deities who have been shown as of yet--and Argus is really the only one at that, since Delia is a sorceress, not a goddess, which is important to the story of Taven and Daegon, since they're not full gods, and that would have been remedied for whoever defeated Blaze).
I would love if Nitara's voice was actually done by Beata Pozniak (Skarlet's Mk11 voice actress) and Nitara also had hexes and spells in her moveset. Mk1 Nitara comes across as childish, immature, and unwise despite her age as a long lived vampire and it would have helped as you said if NRS had maintained her 3d era characterization and Pozniak's voice would've aided in that endeavor. I think if they wanted Megan Fox to be Nitara so badly why not just do what they did with Jean Claude Van Damme and make a separate skin for Nitara with Fox's likeness and voice and the default version was done by someone who actually fit the role. I would also add that Tanya also did get very good treatment in terms of her character and she has been made completely unrecognizable. Very good points and love the video.

I actually liked Havik in MK1, I actually really dig the revolutionary with extremely shotty logic to the point he's even trying to free people who aren't even slaves and I actually really like the direction they go with him and Rain in the tower endings. My biggest issue is why the hell is he just a jobber? I think if they bring in Hotaru they can give Havik more to do and make him less a jobber and more a secondary villain. Just do more with this guy, he has depth handed to you in a silver platter netherrealm, please don't let this guy join Reiko and Shao in the jobber category.

And that which you just said is one of the most annoying things when discussing the game and in a way one of the most annoying things about the game itself.
A lot of the story and aestgetic critisisms can just be deflected with "lol, it's a new timeline, get over the previous ones" to which I respond with "good, then I don't need to care about this series anymore, because the series itself doesn't care about its own continuity and lore anymore", because now not only everything pre-established has changed so much, both in- and out-of-universe, that almost all connections to the past of the series are lost or unrecognisably altered, up to the point where the series doesn't even feel like itself anymore. And what makes long-term investment even harder is that feeling at the back of our heads that even this new status quo that was created to replace the status quo we've been following for years that was created to replace the previous status quo can be replaced with an even brander newer status quo on a whim.
The thing is with nitara is that netherrealm is the same studio that made sindel evil just because she looked evil so they probably had the same viewpoint for her

The original Havik's calm voice felt a little creepy. Like on the outside (despite his appearance lol) made him seem pretty chill but you could tell there was barely contained violence and chaos just boiling beneath the surface. I think Nitara's MK1 design is "okay" in my opinion but good lord I don't know what the devil they were thinking with her voice man. The vampire being a neutral manipulator was very interesting. Not for malevolent intentions but to free her realm from Outworld. And even then, kept her end of the bargain with Cyrax though still kind of screwed over Reptile.
I just don't think this alternate timelines and constant reboot BS is needed and is just annoying to us longtime MK fans.

What’s funnier about NRS fumbling Havik is they knew exactly what he was about. They made him the absolute perfect menace in the mkx comics. I'm honestly a fan of Chaosrealm being rewritten into Orderrealm. I always felt that Chaosrealm didn't make any sense. I thought Outworld made a better Chaosrealm because it was a realm of all these different monsters trying to conquer everything. Chaosrealm just sounds like a first draft version of the name and all the other realms represented a different aspect of the One Being but in a subtle way. Edenia was heaven, Netherealm was hell and so on. Calling Chaosrealm this name is like calling a realm "Cool Realm". I agree that Havik was written poorly though 😂

my head canon is that the writers told Liu Kang what to change in his new era just so he has always has a higher chance of winning each fight canonically, but at the same time ruined what made Nitara and especially Havik beloved in the first place.
Havik is one of my mains in Mk1. I liked his character, for the most part, but now with the context of his characterization in the 3d area, I think he’s lackluster.
It feels like NRS wanted to cater to fans like me who weren’t around for the 3d era games, and as a result made Havik and Nitara generic baddies to fight in story mode. It’s almost insulting, as someone invested in Mk’s story.
Havik is ruined. First off, him being Dairou is as grossly offensive as Kuai Liang being Scorpion. Probably worse. STOP IT! I hate NRS. It’s so annoying. Havik is always shouting and angry and that’s just not Havik. He originally had this smooth whispery voice. It’s a subversion of what you’d expect from a man that looks like that and THAT is CHAOS! Gonna be honest, the whole calling Dairou a tumor for Havik's replacement was a bit to much for me. Dairou isn't the most memorable character, but he wasn't terrible, just a little bland. I found the reveal honestly pretty cool, and the fact that the previous timeline is still real means that the original Havik is still around. I'm excited to see if they ever do anything with them. Maybe introduce them to each other and see how they work.
People were clowning Megan Fox for voicing nitara in this game when in reality she's decent. She's not bad but she's not good either. I feel like it's the way she delivers her line that are the problem. The only difference between her and Ronda Rousey though is that Ronda at least had fun voicing Sonya and she actually tried where as Megan Fox sounds like she's bored 90% of the time. If I have to say who has the worst voice in the mortal Kombat games it would be Dimitri Vegas. That's my opinion

I agree with almost everything you said, however I don't see why vampires who can fly, don't need medical science, and have magic would bother with technology. It makes sense that their architectural advancement would be unnecessary.
I am an old school Mortal Kombat player, as in 1 & 2. I am not familiar with characters like Havok and Nitara, but I am familiar with Scorpion’s background and they screwed the pooch in making him Kuai Liang. It doesn’t make any sense. At his core Scorpion is a man so obsessed with revenge for the murder of his family that Hell itself spat him out. That is why he spits hellfire. Now apparently Bi Han’s little brother has fire powers for reasons.
Since MKX the series became a cheap MCU copycat with millions of universes and nostalgia bait.
MK1 didn't ruin them. NRS and WB ruined them.

I seen some people say how its another timeline so its okay for changes. While thats true alot of this is what made the characters interesting and stories great. Like nitara for example. The timeline reset in mk4 and mk9 and they still respected and did great with the characters. I'm not upset because its a new timeline but at the same time i get why people are mad at the changes. Especially since before mk1 the lore had so much stuff

To be perfectly honest, the most relevant and fun thing to come out of the story mode was Shang Tsung. He was extremely charismatic. Most of the other characters were forgettable. And they totally ruined Shao Kahn, too. He used to be a menace in the original 2d trilogy.
NGL storywise aside i actually dig Nitara especially Havik's design on this game and it's a bit better than their Deception and Armageddon counterparts
While i have no problems with Havik (And to his voice actor who did JUSTICE of voicing him) the same can't be said about Nitara and my problem about her is: *WHY DID THEY DECIDED* to put Megan Fox as Nitara's voice actress?
Don't get me wrong i really *REALLY LOVED* her performance in Jennifer's Body but *WHY HER?* There's A LOT of talented Artists out there that can voice Nitara VERY WELL hell! This makes Ronda Rousey's Sonya in MK11 looked like an oscar winning performance (But to Rousey's credit AT LEAST SHE TRIED AND KINDA NAILED voicing Sonya Blade in most of the scenes in MK11 unlike Fox WHO DIDN'T EVEN TRY IN THE FIRST PLACE)
Imo best part to come out of this, is that Havik basically turns seido into chaos realm
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him do a no Outro. I feel it though the same way you feel about havik and nitara is how I feel about how they got Jax perfect then just made him a kameo
Hot take... I like Havik's redesign, I think his progress in story mode of him slowly deteriorating was nice.

@Chaos-15 then why was Ashrah with the good guys during Armageddon if she was neutral? Why were Havik and Scorpion fighting for the bad guys if they were neutral? Can you elaborate on that? I think even the creators don't know which side the characters should choose. Talk about the ruination of Kabal in 3d games. His bio kard even says that he is evil and his ally is Kano

Neutral just means Neutral. It makes sense for a Neutral character to be in the good side just as it makes sense for a neutral character to be in the evil side.
Honestly I don't think they cared while making the intro since the game was "Everything and the Kitchen Sink" The Game.
