What about Country? I lived on the Ohio/Pennsylvania border in the 80’s as a new Mom. We were decorating in Country, lots of wood, Baskets, candles of different types, Candle Wicking, ruffled curtains quilting and cross-stitch. Lol, I got my first Microwave in 1974! 😂. Love your channel, girls! Z ❤

First, I love your updates to your home, relaxing g, cozy and gorgeous! Second, I am 60 and who gives a hoot what others think about your ripped jeans? If you are comfortable and feel good in what you are wearing and your husband is good with it, that’s all that matters. I am a function before form before beauty kind of lady both clothes and decor and about what I love not what others love or what trends are every year (I would go broke and need to rent storage units for clothes and furniture if I was constantly following g current trends that change every 6 months, besides going broke). I enjoy following the mother-daughter duo of you both and the interaction of you both, keep it coming beautiful ladies!

The blue rug fits well because of the color it has. Love the way it turned out, your right the chest acts as storage for blankets and pillows so a win. We were married when I was 21. And I had my first baby when I was 24. My husband and I met in Sunday school. I was in the 7th grade and he was in 8th. I love the changes. I would try the moonshine collection from Dixie Belle paint, in the color gold digger for your TV frame. I have used it for a few projects, and it leaves a warm gold finish. Give it a shot.

I think of you as Cottage Farmhouse, because of the antiques, white sofa, white washed brick fireplace with the board and batten walls. I’m loving it, great job! I am not a fan of modern, cookie cutter and everything hobby lobby. My 1900’s Minnesota home leans French or Scandinavian Cottage with antiques, gray blues, bleached pine, and creamy whites. I’m in Dallas for the first time this week, staying in McKinney and I am going to explore your stores!

Or ... Put the TV above the fireplace and rearrange the sofa facing the fireplace. You could probably leave the "buffet" . Pretty with the sconces. You'll find that the room to the right of the fireplace will open up. you could probably put a bigger piece of furniture like a chaise lounge or nice large wingback chair with a footrest. And another chair. All to the right of the sofa. And leave the wooden table where it's at. I would move the mirrors to the buffet. And expand that table to make it a second livable space. When the couch is turned towards the fireplace it will free up a lot of space on the back area creating that second livable space.

I rewatched your video, and realized I meant to complement the ENTRY wall with the leaning mirrors that “Mom” designed in my comment yesterday, but I said “long wall”. The long wall is well done too, especially with your FB Marketplace cut-in-half TV console, but we all have to deal with the big black TV screens nowadays which are never my favorite part of a design. I just wanted you both to know where my complement was directed 😊

So, you have me questioning my style now. I think I'm a mixture of coastal, farm house, and french provincial. I don't know, Haha. and I'm obsessed with sunrooms and I want to build one and put my french provincial couches and arm chair in there with some plants, maybe with long white linen curtains on all the many beautiful white French doors... 🤷🏼♀️ ??? I need I ideas on sunrooms. They're not a common thing in Australia.

You showed the comments made on your jeans and I was blown away! I just don't see how people think that saying some of the things they say are even close to being respectful!! I would never say anything to anyone about what they are wearing. Wear what you want ladies!! Laugh at those who make rude comments and feel pity that they had no better raising in their life! People are just too comfortable behind a screen/keyboard in my opinion.

The "blue" rug is the old one, right? I liked the new rug better. The rug you went back to looks gray to me, and I like the design of the new one. They're both really pretty, though. I saw the red spot on your son's head in the shot on the new couch~get ready, you are now a boy mom! (Boy mom of 3 here!) Oh, and BTW, I did mirrors before they were cool (or expensive). I had different sized mirrors on my mantle 25 years ago! 🤗

I love the scale, color, height and textures on the long wall…the composition has the “it” quality I come across in design magazines and books 🎉 Next time you should edit in some close-up panning footage from different perspectives so the audience can fall even more in love with your display.
This video gave me inspiration to layer an antique mirror that I own with another taller one behind it on my mantle which I’ll be on the hunt for while vintage/antique shopping now, so thanks for the eye catching idea! 😊
Upon classifying your home’s style, I’d drop the word “modern” and replace it with the word “timeless”, like “timeless cottage” or “urban timeless”…something along those lines. I’ve caught a few of your videos in the last 6 months showing both of your beautiful homes and they both possess the “timeless” vibe, which is what I always search for in the elements I use to tweak my design so my design won’t end up looking dated. The design prediction for the upcoming year, as you both may already be aware, is based on vintage and unique personal design interpretations, to get the masses off of the retail cookie-cutter look. You ladies already instinctively lean in that direction 👏🏻👏🏻

Alright I've really analyzed.lol. okay so the couch area is too spread out because you're trying to fill up the room. Go ahead and push everything together about a foot and make that to scale with what the sitting arrangement should be without trying to overcompensate to fill the room.
What I think is lacking is there is a lot of space behind the couch. And that's what's confusing you. That's why you pulled the living room apart to spread out. You need to create a separate thing behind the couch. For example you can get a small round table and put it between the windows. And make that like tea time. Or a scrapbook area .And another single chair in the corner where the window is. And I think if you do this you'll need two rugs. A smaller rug once you push everything to scale. And then a separate rug to ground the other living area behind the couch.
And or. Where you have that beautiful wooden table move that to behind the couch and create another sitting area where that was with two chairs and a table of some sort. And make that like working space. I don't know if it needs to be a conversational area with two seats and a small table. But the room definitely is big enough to have two things going on. You need to look at some magazines or videos where rooms are broken up into two living spaces.
So in conclusion, scale as in the room is big enough to have two livable areas. Extend the curtain rods and perhaps add another panel. Insert personality 😝. For example color. Choose a color. Those blue stripe pillows don't count unless accentuated with some personality. Your house in general it just looks like a showroom. And I think maybe that's because you're getting your ideas from like a structured showroom. But you need to find your personality. Your everyday habits aren't showing... That should be an easy way to figure out personality. Do you read magazines? Because that doesn't show. Do you eat chocolate because there's no chocolate. Do you never go out on a date and we're color or a lipstick or nail polish? Because that part of your personality should also be reflected in the space somewhere. You don't like shiny things diamonds gold? Don't like the color of metals,Because that also doesn't show in the room. What do you love? Do you love flowers? Do you love DVD movies. Vinyl. Photos. There's nothing in the room that indicate that you live there. 😁🥳🤗

Hi Ladies! To me you dress fine! I love both your houses . You do an amazing job decorating.. ever since I say Joanna Gaines and farmhouse, I loved it .. but I still like farmhouse but I guess I like a bit modern . I live in a small raised ranch , and the furniture I had before was too big for the room . And we got sofa , and smaller coffee table , and smaller tv stand so that now the room looks bigger and not small . As you come in my house there are like 5 steps to come up to the main floor . At the top is a console table , somewhat farmhouse that I like .. I’m having a problem styling that , my tv stand ( has built in electric fireplace) and my coffee table .. I’m not happy how I styled it. I’m looking for a bit modern approach , coffee books, I’m not sure.
What I saw in this video was when you put up your entry way ( at 19:27 mark on your video) inspiration for you styling .. where do you get it?? Pinterest , design books?? If books which ones .. 1. You're young enough still to pull off the ripped jeans look, not recommended for mid 30's +.
2. Your style has some traditional elements, check out some Cape Cod interior design videos, they might hit home!

Love the look. And the couch is finally to scale with the room. My critique is that scale seems to be the missing lux Factor. The taste is definitely there. For example extend the curtain rods and double-panel the curtains. As for color the room needs some type of deciding trend. You have all these beautiful neutrals which are creating the coziness in the space. For rug you could do like beige pink light blue. With accent pillows and a second curtain to accentuate the dominant color theory. Maybe bringing some lavender floral curtain. The room is lacking personality. Where's the lipstick. Nail polish. A curl. 🎊🎉💋💙💜
