Toronto Shuttle Bus Experience & a Trip to A&W

- Once again the TTC had closed part of line 1 from St Clair Station to Finch and was operating Shuttle Buses for that portion of the line. This video starts by transferring to the shuttle bus at St Clair from the subway and then taking it north to Eglinton. I then get out and find some dinner at A&W on my way home.
Recorded in 4K at 60 FPS with a DJI Pocket 2.

@@JohnnyStumbles Yes, that's correct. Houston is flat & is only 15 meters above sea level. The city & vicinity is very prone to flooding. 😔

Great video Johnny works the same way here in Calgary when the LRT shuts down for Maintenance it's always madness trying to get on the shuttle buses.

good thing it wasn't a desaster.
It's amazing how all throughout the 1980's and early 1990's when I used to visit Toronto on a semi-regular basis, there were rarely any service disruptions and never any closures for maintenance. I assumed that any maintenance was done during the few hours each night when the subway shut down. Unless since the subway was still relatively new at that time, maintenance wasn't needed as much? I don't know...
@Ace ok, that explains why the equipment breaks down more often in recent years. So what explains the excessive amounts of time that subway service is closed in spots due to track, switch, or signal maintenance? Is it due to lack of that type of maintenance from 1995 until recently? And does that also mean funding is now better being that there is so much maintenance now going on? So many questions, LOL!
@ace @Marty Siegel one of the main reasons for all the closures in the last few years was/is to bring Line 1 to full ATC. There is other work that is being done (for the ECLRT) and maintenance.
Having only 1 set of rail running in each direction, and a subway system that runs from approximately 545am - 215 am, leaves a VERY short window to complete all the necessary work.
Weekend closures can easily cover months, if not years of nightly work in that timeframe.
Once this is completed, the number of closures should drop significantly in the coming years.
Many people don’t realize the amount of planning, coordination and work that is involved in these closures. Crews have to prep, work cars have to be readied and travel to their assigned work zone, the work zone needs to be set up in order to meet safety standards, I could go on and on and on.
Buses will never be able to carry the capacity of a train, but it is the only option available.
I’m happy to see, through this video, that physical distancing was being maintained and the trip time to Eglinton from St Clair was acceptable, in my opinion.

@Ace as of now, ATC is fully implemented and functional from Vaughan Metropolitan Centre to Rosedale Station

Smart move walking the length of the train so as to get a jump on the queue at St. Clair station.
Most people don't probably b/c they don't have the layout of the stations memorized. I lived in TO for a long time, and even I only memorized the layouts of 2 stations (Dundas & Spadina stations). I have been away from TO for a few years, and I no longer remember even those 2 station layouts.
These shutdowns happen so frequently I'm surprised more people don't clue in on it. It can literally save you 20 minutes of standing in line.
For lorance station, if you bord at york mills, if you stand or sit near the south escalators, you will be able to get on and off the train and go directly up to the buss level with out having to walk down the long cordor toget to the stairs.
