The most unrealistic part of this system is that one good interaction seems to bring confidence up, and repeated bad interactions barely bring it down. In real life, it would be the opposite.
yeah. like in real life you can be good at some hobby but have low confidence because nobody appreciate it. I am trying to raise sim with low confidence and best I am gonna try lower the confidence just before b-day.
I agree. I wish we had a "bad childhood" milestone. So people would have to put effort to make it happy. I raised my todler miserably. For one I had a birthday party, for the other twin I let her grow old without anybody care. She had a sad moodlet of "they forget my birthday" but beside that nothing bad stick to the milestones.
Honestly it would’ve been cool if they made it differ from kid to kid because personality. Some kids are actually confident and hard to bring down while many others are not
Disappointing but not unexpected… I had to download mods for Parenthood too to be able to get the bad traits. And freeze the parents’ parenting level cause they become experts with zero effort. Like seriously, they gain parenting skill from shouting at the crying toddler, I can’t.🤣 Games are just no fun without challenges and bad events.
in my opinion i think it's cute bc kids who play can see the confidence rise fast but it lowers slow but then again it's the fucking sims kids who play this probably don't understand half the game elements💀 anyway waiting for a mod to fix this x
You could use this... dubious method of parenting to play the Pleasants from Sims 2. Angela has memories of learning to talk, walk, and use the potty. Lilith doesn't :/
I loved watching my husband play through that family! He had the dad cheat with the maid, mom kicked him out, the kids reconciled, and everyone but the dad was happy lol.
@@Kristenhas3cats Omg! Me and my sis both played it the same way, too, lol! Made the guy get a crappy appartement somewhere in the city, all lonesome. The rest of the fam wanted nothing to do with him anymore and the mom found a really nice, sound guy.
One thing I was annoyed with the childhood personalities is that its SO HARD to let your child sims grow up with the traits in the red. Its like every single little thing improves their childhood traits, like, PLEASE let me raise my children to be delinquents?? I usually just end up cheating to plummet their traits to the max red but the worst thing is that usually they start going back up soon after 💀💀
same, i just wanna be able to have more complex relationships with my sim families, where maybe a mom treats children differently because of.. whatever
They need to be better at hating each other when it's actually appropriate, it's annoying when my sims start going off at each other out of the blue despite being super close Fights between close friends are normal every now and then but not to the extent I see in my sims like bro you should not be going from full friendship to like half over a couple persistent negative interactions that you had out of nowhere you guys have been nothing but nice to each other where is this coming from??
@@disasterducky ikr, i also wish like mischief interactions with close friends were positive and not negative cuz i’d like my sims to be able to poke fun at eachother, like normal friends. adding on to that, poking fun could either be good or bad depending on how sensitive the sim is… god i wish we had better personalities 😒
@@odaphii My point more was it apparently takes two separate packs to provide rounded content for a single life stage, just like how it often takes multiple packs on the same subject/theme to cover that apparently It also doesn't help that she spent almost half a video based purely on confidence to actually manage to get the confidence level where it should have been for both children
@@Sylrien I mean, I'd rather have two packs both expanding upon a life stage than not expanding upon it at all. I think it's good that things take time and effort as well, because TS4 is WAY too easy as it currently stands.
If your adult Sim has the Hates Children trait, with toddlers and children they get an interaction of "Crush Dreams," which makes the little one sad. I bet that would have a good impact on lowering confidence.
They are only taken aways if they are hunger. My experiment was with toddler but is probably the same. The poor toodler had the sad moodlet all the time. Sometimes she got angry. I let her dirty, sleep outside of the house, ignore the social bar. She hate her father but wasnt taken away because I filled the hunger bar. I was expecting a sad milestone maybe like "bad childood" but she doesnt have any bad memory from it.
I think the reason they would have the same level of confidence is because your “being mean” in front of both kids even though your directing it to bad kid
1:32 i relate to this so much😂 some girl in middle school said “your nose is so perfect, until it gets down to the bottom & it looks all bubbly” LIKE WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?? Ppl always compliment my nose and every time i’m just like thanks BUT….😅
i wear glasses and rarely take them off. if i have to clean them i try to turn away from everyone because i'm insecure about how i look without them (my eyes are a bit small for my face so my glasses balance it out). one time someone saw me take them off and told me that my nose looked smaller with my glasses on. i know my nose isn't exactly super small so i guess my expression was uncomfortable and they quickly followed it with "in a good way, i mean!" oh... thanks...
It’s kinda fun that you hadn’t noticed the earthquakes though, haha. I think we got them in city living. It’s a lot trait. What I don’t get is how you see if there’s neutral/high/low confidence? None of the kids in my game has had any confidence traits even with the new pack. They just get the happy toddler or whatever.
I tried so hard to create a storyline of a verbally abusive parent producing kids with low confidence and it was impossible. LET THE SIMS HAVE PERVASIVE TRAUMA!
Well the upside is the complaint everyone has is that it's much harder to ruin a child's life than to bring them up well. Use MCCC to make everyone's needs decay much slower and you can use it as "healthy re-parenting simulator".
I wish the world made things as easy as The Sims 4 does; I literally can’t get rid of money fast enough or spend enough of it on stuff, and every person easily becomes confident and great but requires active work to become a hot mess

11:18 When she set their reputation to atrocious and said "you literally did nothing" made me realize that that should be a feature in the game. Kids and teens can be awful to each other and even if you've done literally nothing wrong, they can give you a horrible reputation. I think it'd be awesome if they could incorporate that somehow along with the reverse like "spread rumor about X" It would've been SO good had they brought it with the high school pack and at least acknowledged the hierarchy system. I think rather than having parents not interact at all with 2 children (when we could do that with just one) for the leaving things up to the game, I would make one practically raise themselves, and the other be raised with parents like you did that other time before this pack. Kinda like one being Dudley and the other being Harry. So you aren't actively shit to the kid, but they don't have any additional support, it's all up to them how they turn out. The sims 4 has a bad habit of being a happiness simulator instead of a life simulator so I can’t even say I’m surprised at it
I've noticed the opposite I notice how easy it us to lose confidence lol 😆
the issue i’m having is one twin never goes below high confidence while the other switches between high and neutral even if i praise her all the time
