If I had only one tip for learning this entire game, it's this: Headshots. Learn how to consistently, smoothly shoot for heads, because often times a single shot will down someone if you hit them in the head, otherwise they can soak up a ridiculous amount of damage to the torso, staggering you while they shoot until one of you ends up dead. This is essential with pistols, but is extra deadly when done with actual weapons. Go into offline and just practice only aiming for heads on Scavs. It takes time to learn the sort of floaty aiming of Tarkov, but when you have it down you will be one tapping multiple enemies in rapid succession like John Wick or something, and it isn't even that difficult at short to medium ranges.

@7scrib when shroud is literally saying its hard, idk whether to trust some tiny ego man named scrib, or one of the best FPS players of our generation.
I feel like the hardest thing to work around in EFT is the anxiety. After you're through that phase, it doesn't matter too much if you play solo or in a group, since you'll be more focused on objective thinking about your plays. Both ways require the same moves from each player, more or less, with parties being more focused on actual tactics. That said, I'll agree that solo play is good for you. It's just not exactly the best way to learn. To each their own.
I used to play alone but I have no idea what I was doing. However I was lucky to meet some people that actually were teaching me things instead of just holding my hand, which is really good!
The more you play it gets a little better, but Tarkov does have some pretty fuzzy graphics, weird lighting and a very flat colour palette with flat textures too. Oh, and an obscene amount of fog. Indoors fog, ffs.
@ArmchairWarrior he doesnt Play max res , he Plays almost lowest res you can go to his mixer channel and type !Settings and then you see his ingame graphic settings
As someone pretty new and still learning the game, the best thing you can do is just not be afraid and don’t hesitate. Shroud has said that this game isn’t like a battle royals at all but I definitely get the same feeling in this game that I did when I first played PUBG: being too scared of getting into fights because you don’t want your run to end. Doing that only makes you less prepared when a fight inevitably does happen and prevents you from the opportunity of getting better at netting kills to rake it big hauls of loot. Something else I’m learning is that every death should teach you some kind of lesson, which means the more you get out there and die from lack of experience, the more experience you’re now gaining
Kasai Brightwater you can buy mags with bp ammo in them from prapor, pestily has a new series that starts from level one on a standard account and explains loads

As someone who just started this wipe . The first tip was the best. I got carried like my first 100 raids until I took the training wheels off and went to learn the maps on my own. You dont have to know every nook and cranny but you need to know the major hot spots and the exfils at the LEAST. Juat getting an idea of general map flow will helps tons
Your Scav and PMC get stronger as you level them up.. so his just play to get better is the most honest advice for the game.. it sucks starting out but it does get better if you stick with it..
“Super fun and way easier” although I would say I’m above average on competitive games and such, but EFT is a completely new playing field for how much effort is needed - I’ve played games similar to this but it’s a whole new experience I don’t mind dying and losing my gear but when I get one tapped across the map by someone when I have fairly good gear just gets tiring - or people who farm Factory all day that Insta-peek you in the head when you first spawn but I’ve been improving and working on getting better
Absolutely! I am comming from over 15 Years Counter Strike and several other competetive FPS. So i started with tarkov way too over confident and got absolutely destroyed. Tarkov is a completely different genre, good reflexes or a good aim is just not enough. That's probably one of the reasons why there is a lot of players over the age of 30 doing pretty good. Pestily and Deadly Slob or Kotton for example.
Honestly for me, starting off playing with others helped way more than playing on my own. 1. I actually retained what we were doing and why we were doing it 2. When I used to play alone I would be too afraid of going for geared players or into spiced areas and playing with even 1 other person gave me more confidence even when playing alone to do spicy shit. Even if you do get babied in the beginning just pay attention to what the person babying you is doing.
Playing with others on new maps is easier to learn extracts tbh. Just by memorizing where they travel by following certain landmarks or which directions to travel to which extracts can really help. Atleast for when its the first few runs. Learning other stuff like scav spawns off the top of your head and player spawns are great for solo players
Me and my two friends all started playing at the same time and it’s been so fun learning alongside them like we’re constantly sharing cool tips we find and the group raids are fun cause we were all at the same level
But, playing in 3 is way easier than solo, not only for the more Guns and ears and eyes, but way less anxiety and results in fights when most of the map is solo or duo and you are in 3
Been playing solo for the past few days. Lost all of my gear, and literally get killed from outta nowhere. I guess it's all part of the learning curve of this hardcore game.
Playing with other people helps a lot as I’m someone who is asking questions every 5 seconds and without having people to answer those questions I wouldn’t have a clue what I was doing
I fully believe you can learn at the same pace if not better with a person than playing solo. I understand what shroud is saying but if you have someone that doesn't hold your hand and puts you in charge, gets you to go first, choose where to go, where to loot and what to look for its just as fun and rewarding as playing solo with the added benefit of playing with a teammate. Luckily, my friend was kind enough to do this and it's how I learnt the game for the most part.
3:00 for a more accurate information there's a Pestilly vidio on skills, he talks about what's what and how to level them up. It'll all change eventually, but yeh
tl:dr the way to get good is 3 factors, knowledge, skill and prep, having the knowledge to plan your route through a raid and to efficiently/effectively engage targets (like what ammo types work against what armor) having the skills to out-maneuver your opponent in combat, outright shooting better and learning what safe routes to take or ideal places to reposition to without accidentally engaging another opponent and finally the prep, the gear to execute your strategies and enhance your skill be it better ammo, a new optic, grenades or medical equipment.
Went bankrupt in my 1st week and I have bad ping. The key is to learn loot routes on each map as well as AI Scav locations. Murder them as they are easy to predict. Avoid PMCs and engage only if you positively have to. Go covert.
@@digviju001 I can tell that are many players who are new or returning. My usual "safest" loot route is no longer safe. Since hideout is introduced, I guess junk is now a valuable commodity. I tried teaming up but I keep getting backstabbed.
This is my first wipe. I’m lvl 27 and knowledge is everything. Been playing Tarkov since November almost everyday dying and killing. 248 raids and I love it.
the way he discribes it is absolutely true for me, learn alone, get questions answered. Learn the maps one by one, loot stuff, start fighting scafs, then pvp. youtube helps alot
So me and a friend got this game and he doesn’t like to listen so everytime I told him where I was he didn’t listen and ended up doming me in the head every game, so overall that’s my experience
This rings true also with a buddy who is just as new as you are and then you can learn from each other while learning together. You don't have to be alone. Streamers are more used to playing alone a lot of the time. I wouldn't start with a 3 or 4 man team but you and a buddy would be absolutely fine and it helps your survival rate while you learn.
I have played now like 6 raids, I got out 3 of the times with a total of 6 kills. I got help from my friends and honestly It was so much fun with the teamwork and such that I kind of think this is the best way for me to get introduced to tarkov. I now have the basics to go out there alone and learn all there is about this game, because there is SO much shit you gotta learn in this, lets be real
only reason why im following your channel is cause u understand how things work in life and when the time comes ur not afraid to put them on the ground . Personality , respect dude ... do it yourself
I understand what your saying shroud, but in the beginning when my friends were leading me to extracts and teaching me what med kits do what and types of ammo; I find that much better than learning all by myself. I learn from watching them play. But I know your way works too
I get killed easily and instantly when the raid starts. Now thanks to watching a lot of youtube clips on tips of playing Tarkov and having a lot of playing time, I'm able to survive more than 5 minutes before getting killed.
In my opinion I think at the very start it's good to have someone help you on the first few raids to help you adjust. Then afterwards when you know some basics you can solo. My brother's friend has been carrying me in my raids by finding all the loot for my raids and just telling me what to do. I can learn some useful tips but i dont learn much and it definitely isn't as fun. I want to strat soloing to learn more but alr lost lots if gear before when i tried it so I'm still nervous but it's what i have to do to learn and improve.
@@immeksa he does it because with the mp7 which is obvs a smg it is not effective after a certain range so he uses the single fire , which means there is way less recoil by typing sf on range
Me personally, a good friend of mine and I got the game at the same time and it was so great going through the game together because we always play together and are learning the game together
A huge tip i can give as a guy who's still in process of learning is avoid gear fear especially now wipe is upcoming you need to be able to take on geared people and make the most of gear you get if youre experienced in hatchiling running or naked mosin taking potshots you wont be able to pick up good gear and make the most of it
I think it entirely depends on the way its taught. I think Shroud had literal hand-holding from the way he described things, he specifically mentioned "Giving you gear" which would ruin the whole experience and the point of playing Tarkov in the first place.
My problem with playing alone is that my gear fear increases a lot but not only that i actually feel scared in a way sometimes for this game.. The gunshot sounds can be so loud it just makes me paranoid from getting shot at any time and since im bad at spotting people sometimes that just increases too.. When im playing with friends i have this safe feeling like that i wont get shot out of nowhere and all and dont feel the fear of losing my gear because i feel more confident to survive
I read the secret is to alternate between Scav running as a dirty looting rat and then PMC running armed to the teeth as practice to improve gunskill willing to risk it all. Also, the very first thing anyone playing an FPS Game is figure out how their mouse software works and create one profile with only 3 DPIs on it set at 1000Hz Polling Rate. 400, 800, and 1600 are the only 3 DPIs you should ever experiment with. 400 should be high, and 1600 should be low. Also, this is the one game Shroud only runs 70FOV on in Display Settings for visibility.
It takes time to learn, don't feel bad. You are up against a lot of people with a couple of years experience. Run scavs a lot and you don't lose anything while you get the hang of the maps and extracts. Be sneaky. Sneaky is good, aggressive only when they already know you are there. But it's a hard game, and it's balanced *against* the newer player. Higher level players not only have game knowledge, they have better gear and their higher skills make them faster, tougher, sneakier and they have better hearing. It's definitely easier starting out right after a wipe than when a lot of us are ~level 50. That being said, when you start to crawl your way up it will feel really good.
@@belliott88 going in fully geared as a PMC when youre a noob is a terrible idea. You use cheap gear and do tasks, and on the way you get better at Tarkov's basic mechanics while not losing a crapload of money every death (which you will be doing a lot of )
Recommendation: play safe, not aggressive. Shit isnt like Rust. Start with nothing but a pistol and a mag or 2 extra, and try out some cheaper guns and play for tasks. Also learn maps. You will make money in no time PS, abuse scav runs for ez money
what helped me a lot is fixing my game from the freeze spikes it would get for 1-2 seconds. Caused my to die multiple times. Finally googled it/youtubed it... there was a fix
I kinda found that playing with someone else in the same raid is a lot more helpful, but as long as you keep a 40-50m distance away from eachother, i feel like the learning curve is improved
Got to agree with the going lone wolf to help learn. I have been playing initially with a level 20 friend and I felt like I was just being dragged around and I didn't really learn anything. I started running with a friend who is level 5 like me and that has been fun as we have been learning things together and getting into some proper messy situation.
Tarkov is an emotional roller coaster first you realize you about to go broke you try and find loot find it loose it right before extract repeat till you know better
Tried this game 3 different times over the last year, and the most fun I had was when my homies (4 guys) all died within like 30 secs and I had to find loot and extract by myself.
Learning at least parts of the game on your own is some of the best advice I’ve heard some of the streamers give. 100% you get better at the game faster when you get punished for doing something wrong or stupid and that’s how you learn. Forgot your extract? Death. Forgot painkillers and your stuck limping in a gunfight. Death. Shit you can win fights and still die in this game. There’s so much depth I love it almost feels more like SHTF simulator 😂
Slowly getting better. It's a hell of a hard game. But so so so satisfying when you get out with loot. Something that is helping, to get over the fear of fights. Spawn in a scav, then nust push any gunshots you hear. Make it your goal to kill a player! Don't loot, your sole mission is to kill a player of any sort. You do that then you can loot.
The footsteps are loud in this game, but he was also wearing a headset (the in-game item). They magnify player movements so your footsteps sound extra loud. All the different headsets balance sound differently, so if you notice when he switched headsets when looting those two guys, his game sounded different.
Honestly, commit to learning a map. I learned Customs first because of all the beginning quests that are there. The app Tarkov map is key, it shows you a lot of map info and you can tailor what you info you want to see like caches and exits. Plus it makes it feel like your really in Tarkov with a sav map. Btw budget builds of SKS, Bank Robbers and the Olive Green Soviet starter helmet (can’t remember the name) helps when your learning and getting killed while still providing great fire power. Just remember the internal mag is 10 rounds and you have to hand reload it I.e no mags at firsts.

2 years have passed since this was uploaded. i am now watching this for tips. Much needed information.
That whole tower situation looked like a fkin movie scene i swear to god...so cinematic
Video: Tips for getting better.
Actual video: Shroud just destroying people with 1 tip.
I can never see as good as he does. He always sees people before I can even see them lol.
The more you play it gets a little better, but Tarkov does have some pretty fuzzy graphics, weird lighting and a very flat colour palette with flat textures too. Oh, and an obscene amount of fog. Indoors fog, ffs.
youtube videos lose some quality anyway... harder to see in a video than in the actual game
he probably got good spotting people from the years hes played on pubg and fortnite
feel like i missed out a lot from not playing those games
Pretty sure he plays at 1440p, so not sure what res you play at but spotting is much easier at 2k

As someone who just started this wipe . The first tip was the best. I got carried like my first 100 raids until I took the training wheels off and went to learn the maps on my own.
You dont have to know every nook and cranny but you need to know the major hot spots and the exfils at the LEAST. Juat getting an idea of general map flow will helps tons
i just started this game like a week ago, spawned tunnels at factory, wiped a three man in rage cage, died to a scav. Life is great.
Your Scav and PMC get stronger as you level them up.. so his just play to get better is the most honest advice for the game.. it sucks starting out but it does get better if you stick with it..
“Super fun and way easier” although I would say I’m above average on competitive games and such, but EFT is a completely new playing field for how much effort is needed - I’ve played games similar to this but it’s a whole new experience
I don’t mind dying and losing my gear but when I get one tapped across the map by someone when I have fairly good gear just gets tiring - or people who farm Factory all day that Insta-peek you in the head when you first spawn but I’ve been improving and working on getting better
Argonile I’m literally the exact same way couldn’t agree more, wanna run some customs one day?
Shroud: *“Knowledge is important.”*
Tai Lopez: *“KnOwLeDgE!”*
11:11 that fight cost an arm and a leg
The best thing about this game is killing a pmc from long range with a sniper and seeing his partner panicking running aroumd
Me and my two friends all started playing at the same time and it’s been so fun learning alongside them like we’re constantly sharing cool tips we find and the group raids are fun cause we were all at the same level
But, playing in 3 is way easier than solo, not only for the more Guns and ears and eyes, but way less anxiety and results in fights when most of the map is solo or duo and you are in 3
the 0:39 seconds just explained life with friends and youll adapt to they holding your hand thx shroud
Rocking MP7 3 years ago. . . Legend.
tl:dr the way to get good is 3 factors, knowledge, skill and prep, having the knowledge to plan your route through a raid and to efficiently/effectively engage targets (like what ammo types work against what armor) having the skills to out-maneuver your opponent in combat, outright shooting better and learning what safe routes to take or ideal places to reposition to without accidentally engaging another opponent and finally the prep, the gear to execute your strategies and enhance your skill be it better ammo, a new optic, grenades or medical equipment.
Went bankrupt in my 1st week and I have bad ping. The key is to learn loot routes on each map as well as AI Scav locations. Murder them as they are easy to predict. Avoid PMCs and engage only if you positively have to. Go covert.
ZEN ZEN yeah I'm new to this game..no money for more than 2 budget raids... Have to learn maps a lot in this.. I just know customs
@@digviju001 I can tell that are many players who are new or returning. My usual "safest" loot route is no longer safe. Since hideout is introduced, I guess junk is now a valuable commodity. I tried teaming up but I keep getting backstabbed.
Just ambush ppl a lot lol
This is my first wipe. I’m lvl 27 and knowledge is everything. Been playing Tarkov since November almost everyday dying and killing. 248 raids and I love it.
bro, this isn't arma. its hardcore, not a milsim. I understand what you mean, but he is doing what he can to survive a firefight.
ok that was meant for someone else my bad. wrong comment lol
the way he discribes it is absolutely true for me, learn alone, get questions answered. Learn the maps one by one, loot stuff, start fighting scafs, then pvp. youtube helps alot
i miss these low key super chill streams peeposad
What I got from this was that Shroud doesn't like to hold hands during games; perhaps a hug will do? For scientific research, of course.
i hate getting carried 100% but i LOVE playing with friends. i get so distracted and never end up playing much alone
Within 15 seconds of this video you already solved my biggest issue with learning the game. Thank you lol
playing alone is the best way to learn, but you should have a community of thousands to answer any question you have instantly.
So me and a friend got this game and he doesn’t like to listen so everytime I told him where I was he didn’t listen and ended up doming me in the head every game, so overall that’s my experience
The sad thing is I can relate
Branislav Sanader respect what he wanna play dude
A good rule also is never ever underestimate scavs like most streamers will.
Having a friend to help guide you through the immense amount of information and resources the game throws at you can be helpful.
it can be hard, but doming some phat pmc as a beginner and taking all their shit and scurrying away like a little rat is the best feeling ever
Domeing?
every single time I try to play it I'm reminded that I need a new PC
#1 - get gud
#2 - headshots only
#3 - sprint always - for terror strikes the heart of your adversary
In my opinion I think at the very start it's good to have someone help you on the first few raids to help you adjust. Then afterwards when you know some basics you can solo. My brother's friend has been carrying me in my raids by finding all the loot for my raids and just telling me what to do. I can learn some useful tips but i dont learn much and it definitely isn't as fun. I want to strat soloing to learn more but alr lost lots if gear before when i tried it so I'm still nervous but it's what i have to do to learn and improve.
bro what you did to those snipers is actually a military tactic called fire and maneuvering towards the enemy.
2:02 " To do research"

shroud: I see one... I see two, they're very lightly geared
me: rewinds and squints at monitor 10 times still sees nothing
I am very new to tarkov and I was wondering what gun and mods did shroud use in this video thank you in advance for any tips
A huge tip i can give as a guy who's still in process of learning is avoid gear fear especially now wipe is upcoming you need to be able to take on geared people and make the most of gear you get if youre experienced in hatchiling running or naked mosin taking potshots you wont be able to pick up good gear and make the most of it
I’ve taught all of my friends and I don’t think going solo is best. They all learned way faster when I helped them than when they were solo.
I think it entirely depends on the way its taught. I think Shroud had literal hand-holding from the way he described things, he specifically mentioned "Giving you gear" which would ruin the whole experience and the point of playing Tarkov in the first place.
Guy in tower speaking to his friend: "I killed one of them but... do you hear boss music?"
Definitely and more than half the players I face have better gear weapons and knowledge than what I have
I tried playing on my own. After a few session I ended up with a hatchet in my inventory.
Pussy hole.
You will make money in no time
PS, abuse scav runs for ez money

2. 4-5 bs and 25-26 bt.
3. For hunting scavs or eco use 10 bt and 20 ps and avoid pvp.

what helped me a lot is fixing my game from the freeze spikes it would get for 1-2 seconds. Caused my to die multiple times. Finally googled it/youtubed it... there was a fix
That was insane gameplay
Jeez, the first thing he said hit me hard. I am being carried rn. Maybe I should try playing alone sometimes, like the good old times.
That was such good game play. Holy crap
i feel this game has a learning curve on par with the top competitive games just masked behind a survival game.
What is your pc specs and tarkov settings? im playing 1440p with 3070 and ryzen 7 3700x and getting like 70-90 fps on medium
the audio lag on gunshots is more annoying then constantly check your on full auto XD love you shroud
So hyped to get this game
Tarkov is an emotional roller coaster first you realize you about to go broke you try and find loot find it loose it right before extract repeat till you know better
I’m getting my pc september 28. This is the first game i’m gonna get.
did the same thing, dont buy the 150 dollar edition like me unless your gonna be fully committed to dying...
Hows your PC gaming going?
100% agree with his beginning statement, all I did was play squad before and now that I play solo and I’m so much better
yes i found ya i used to watch u stream pubg . i have now build myself a pc got pubg and this game . best streamer to learn from
Tried this game 3 different times over the last year, and the most fun I had was when my homies (4 guys) all died within like 30 secs and I had to find loot and extract by myself.
The boots seem so damn heavy haha.
Those guys were probably excruciatingly mad.
On average how much food and water should you bring for a raid?
