    I bought access to the X Dance University from the 2 step secrets live special you guys had a couple of months ago. I have to say that it is the best virtual dance training platform I have seen. Thank you for your hard work that went into making those videos. The detail you guys go into is really helpful. I also think that the horizontal approach is awesome. I have almost completed the two step level 1 course and I can say that it has helped me improve a lot! It would be awesome if you guys could add courses for triple two step and country swing.

      That makes us so happy to hear! We're so glad you're enjoying it.
      We are working hard creating new content and will definitely continue to add new courses and lessons. As you can probably tell, a LOT goes into creating the content. We had a choice when creating XD... we could do what everyone else does which is teach a pattern, film it, and publish it... or we could do it the way we have which is include as much information as we can and make it interactive so that each lesson is customized to what that student needs. Obviously, that takes a long time to create, but we feel like the end result is an entirely superior experience for the student.
      But, stick around as there is new content on the way! Country Swing and TR2 are definitely on the agenda!

      @@countrydancex Yes I can definitely tell that so much hard work went into the videos! I have a few DVDs of the ones where they just film one pattern after the next but your method is so much better than that for learning!

    Anthony and Rose, I like your videos. One observation I would like to make. The partners in a couples dance, as you have shared, are defined as leader and follower. I have danced for over 50 years and I see the same thing from virtually all instructors. The instructors teach the couples dance as the pusher and the pushee. I see on so many dance floors, especially dance floors with lots of dance couples and especially with people or couples just learning the dance, they get so focused on what their feet are doing they keep running their pushee in to other people. If the leader will start off backwards (lead) then they can protect (lead) their follower. It does not prevent any of the moves you have in mind. You can still do your turns, etc. This also makes the follower and the other people on the floor, especially experienced dancers, happier because they are not being run into. I still do see many experienced dancers being a pusher and a pushee and "NOT" a leader and follower. Have a fun day! Thanks for the videos.

      Hi there. Thanks for the input and contribution! I've read your comment twice trying to understand where you're coming from... and there are some important conceptual flaws in your argument.
      First, no one should think of lead/follow as "pusher and pushee". Leading simply means to "initiate" or "ask".
      Secondly, the leader is responsible for managing the floor (what we call floorcraft)... Going backwards simply means you can't see where you're going and will not cause collisions less (totally far more). Sure, beginners focus on their feet (they're beginners) but the only thing that the leader going backwards will do is cause the leader to run into the dancers in front of them (substantially more too since they won't be able to see the traffic ahead.
      You also mentioned that going backwards wouldn't keep us from being able to our turns and I beg to differ 100%. The vast majority of what we do could not be done with the leader in front of the follower (for far too many reasons to list here).
      Just from this conversation, I would suggest spending some time looking into "dance frame" and understanding how that plays into things. BTW, dance frame and dance position are different things (people confuse them all the time). With good dance frame from both partners, there is no "push" or "pull", there is simply connection.
      I have heard before that in some regional areas, it is common for leaders to start going backwards. I wouldn't suggest it as it would be very inhibiting and cause an entire assortment of problems that wouldn't happen when danced the normal way.
      Here's a little tough love for ya... maybe there's a reason that professional dance teachers teach the way we do?
      Sending you love and happy dancing!

      Glad you enjoyed it. The entire sequence is QQSS... in that move, she turns for qqs... he turns on the second slow. It's neither ss or qq.
      She turns QQS, he turns on the 2nd slow.

    What about right and left turns in closed position?

    • @countrydancex
      @countrydancex  3 года назад

      Hi Rich. If you mean turning from a closed position and then ending back in closed position... some people teach that as a basic turn because it's easier. There's nothing wrong with doing that as a variation, but it is not a basic turn and should not be taught first. It is a variation that strays away from the core structure of 1 and 1/2 turns (and a really bad habit to get into for a beginner that will inhibit them later).
